  1. My husband is from KC, MO and we go there to visit every Christmas. I know there is a whole foods in Overland Park, which is the optimal choice amongst sever small places in KC that don't have ANYthing. Even here in town I have to drive clear across to get to a store and it's the ONLY store besides Harris Teeter (which is expensive too) that has gluten...
  2. I know this isn't much help, but a dermatologist tried to diagnose my mother with Lupus and RA when really it was DH.
  3. I just google, "[product] gluten free" and usually ALWAYS it send me to celiac.com I trust this site better than those random lists out there...
  4. That is familiar to me However, I hear fed'vul (fayetteville) all. the. TIME! Or more commonly knowns as fayette-h*ll, fatal-ville, or fayette-nam.
  5. No, eastern NC I hear it everyday too
  6. I will be looking into this for myself soon too! I had been corresponding with someone who suffers in the same fashion. I am hoping it's ear related (due to a history of severe/chronic ear infections).
  7. I hope enough self diagnosed people turn in stories! I did. It doesn't get much respect, but I know all self diagnosed will agree that it is NOT worth reverting and eating ANY small amount just to get a positive diagnosis, when going gluten/wheat free has made us "better".
  8. Yep, I am feeling great. Yesterday I did have some gas and C that I know came from Ruby's...but this morning all is back to normal. Thanks for asking!
  9. I suggest just bringing your own... I've had too many glutenings at places who have gluten free menu's, but then they add seasoning to the "plain grilled" chicken breast that I asked for with "nothing" on it...this just happened to me over the weekend. And when I asked what was in the seasoning, the manager said, "it's basically just salt..." I for a fact...
  10. Ummm apparently they don't know ANYthing! Whatever...grr
  11. That is essentially what I'm doing...my first post actually was NOTHING like what I actually did. If you read further I started with only chicken, carrots, and bananas. Since I am not SURE as to what I might be reacting to, and taking into consideration that it could be anything, I was advised to add whole foods first, and if all ok, then I can add things...
  12. I've not seen anything similar, sorry...perhaps since the first post has a recipe, maybe you can talk someone else into making them for ya...I donno, just thought it funny that you clearly stated no recipes...and the first one was exactly that.
  13. North Carolina... What is a freheeta? Also when my mom goes to a mexican restaurant she will over pronounce things...as if she's talking to a baby..."Can I have verde sauce....green...ver-de....sauce" OOHHhh and woooder for water. dawg instead of dog. Gawd instead of God, Cawfee for coffee, or poieem for poem. Any incorrect...
  14. I caved a little today, I admit. I went to Ruby Tuesday to have a salad. My salad consisted of ONLY mixed greens, tomato, mushroom and cucumber. Their italian dressing is on the gluten free list they have, so opted for that, but then the person in front of me tipped their plate a little and off rolled a pumpernickel crouton...into the italian dressing...
  15. If you don't want to do it completely from scratch, Namaste brand has a Spice Cake mix that all you add is raisins and nuts...and carrot shreds. It is AMAZING. My gluten-eating coworkers ask for it!
  16. Growing up we had a golden retriever...extremely smart, but for some reason he just looked like a completely brainless animal. He would get close to the invisible line and it would shock him...he never put two and two together...he would just keep walking...zap....keep walking zap zap zap and a few bewildered looks from him like "WTH is going on?" and...
  17. Oh man, ya'll got me started. I bet I used a word that get's on someone's nerves, huh? hahahahaha! Acrosst instead of Across ie "I went acrosst the street" Chuldren instead of children Fedjral (bet you can't guess this one) It's supposed to be Federal Sawl instead of Saw Drawring instead of drawing I work with a lady who says...
  18. What I do to lose weight...and what has worked for other's I've written up diet plans for is to eat small portions more frequently. It speeds up your metabolism this way. Stick to lean meats...boneless skinless chicken and one side...or two, just don't over eat. 6 oz of chicken with a 1/2 cup of each side or 1 cup for one side. Salmon and tilapia are...
  19. Oh thank heavens. Lets see, I'm doing an elimination diet, ended up with an ear infection... Guess what now? A possibly pinched nerve in my neck *sigh* Need to go see a chiro, asap! I woke up this morning and called work in excrutiating pain and in tears to tell them I can't drive until the pain subsides enough to raise my arms up to wash...
  20. I like Namaste's spice cake mix (add carrot raisins and nuts) and brownies...undeniably delicious! I have a bag of bobs red mill in my cupboard waiting until the end of my elimination diet. I can't wait.
  21. I think it's not one gender or another who has it more... HOWEVER, I think more men would ignore or ride off the symptoms longer than a woman, so there might be discrepancies there. I would like to know if it's more prevalent in one race than another...I've wanted to ask, but was kinda keeping that to myself.
  22. My reactions are usually bloating and/or D and the occasional inability to "go" for a day or two. Staying bloated was one of the ONLY noticeable reactions...to begin with (besides migraines and irritability, which I rode off as I was just a . Then I learned that my anxiety and migraines were a reaction and that was after I started having them more. ...
  23. Still so far so good...still on chicken, banana, rice, and carrots. I did add sweet potato on monday. That seems to be well tolerated. I only ate half a potato though. I still have no appetite (due to meds) and it's getting even more so annoying. I'm irritated all the time and very on-edge. Of course that is a symptom of "dieting" anyways. So I knew that...
