ARCHIVED Recovery From Neuropathy - Symptoms?
rosetapper23 replied to AlwaysLearning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Most of my peripheral neuropathy disappeared after going gluten free (though it took a while). You can help things along by taking a good Vitamin B complex. Celiac Mindwarp, if the tendon problems keep returning, it's possible that you're low in chelated manganese. It's cheap....and works really well for tendon health. -
ARCHIVED Chronic Non-Specific Dermatitis...
rosetapper23 replied to jlaw's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Yes, he scammed you--what an arrogant, arrogant doctor! Is there any recourse? Either you need to have a new derm do it over again or insist that the first one do it correctly. Bring in written information if you need to--this man needs to be educated! -
ARCHIVED What Aspects Cause What Symptoms?
rosetapper23 replied to Em314's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My current (and personal) understanding is that reactions to gluten tend to be suddenly acute (D or C, aching bones and joints, migraines, dizziness, foggy thinking, swelling of the eye tissues, stuffy nose, etc., flu-like symptoms), whereas symptoms caused by malabsorption/nutritional deficiencies are more chronic: iron anemia, B12 deficiency (neuropathy... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Use For Shampoo?
rosetapper23 replied to RPM's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I only use shampoos and conditioners from Desert Essence Organics and EO (Essential Oil). Both are made with organic essential oils, and there is NO gluten to worry about. I get Dermatitis Herpetiformis on my face, so it's essential that my shampoos be absolutely gluten free. -
ARCHIVED I'm Not Convinced By My Test Results.
rosetapper23 replied to Brittanyadell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You may not have been eating enough gluten to have a positive celiac test. No worries--you know what you're reacting to....so simply eliminate ALL gluten for life. You'll be glad you made the decision. -
ARCHIVED Plausible And Optimistic
rosetapper23 replied to a2bfree's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are so welcome to this forum! Yes, you sound like a candidate for celiac or gluten sensitivity. However, even if the tests come out negative, I hope you'll try following a gluten-free diet--you may end up with excellent health! -
ARCHIVED Very Hungry
rosetapper23 replied to glutenfree015's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'd add potassium, magnesium, and chelated manganese to the supplements you're taking. They may alleviate the cramping. -
ARCHIVED Malabsorption And Excessive Bowel Movements
rosetapper23 replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Mine didn't slow down until I started taking a scoop of Metagenics UltraClear Sustain in my smoothie every day. It took about two weeks to clear up the frequent bowel movements--I've been "normal" ever since. I can highly recommend this product. -
ARCHIVED Daughter Recently Diagnosed, Questioning Diagnosis
rosetapper23 replied to Jemms1028's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with the above advice, but I would add that you might also remove dairy, soy, and oats from her diet to see if she is having trouble with them, as well (very common in people with celiac). I also highly suspect that there is cross-contamination going on....and if there is, you won't see much of an improvement in her symptoms. She needs to be STRICTLY... -

rosetapper23 replied to Brownie88's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Be sure to check your shampoos and lipsticks--lots of gluten action could be going on there. -

ARCHIVED Help Me Figure Out A Christmas Dessert!
rosetapper23 replied to Kelleybean's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, make it even easier on yourself--they sell French-style Maccarons (maccaroons) in peppermint, chocolate, and vanilla in the frozen dessert area. They're gluten free and look/taste special for the holidays. I've been bringing them to all the holiday parties I've been invited to, and everyone has loved them. -
I've eaten at many Carl's Jr. restaurants in the past nine years, and I've never been glutened. Their policy is that you should request to speak to the manager. Explain that you have an extreme wheat allergy (this is something they understand) and that you would like to be ensured that there will be no cross-contamination. It's been my experience that...

I agree with everything that has been advised, but I particularly encourage you to follow Mushroom's advice. I'm sure you can find a few foods that you KNOW you're fine with and then simply add in a new food once a week. I suspect you can't tolerate soy, oats, nightshades, rice, or gluten-free gums, so you shouldn't re-introduce those for a while. Believe...

ARCHIVED Christmas Family Event. Beyond Frustrated
rosetapper23 replied to Skysmom03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I totally agree with the advice you've been given. Your food concerns don't have to be HER concerns. Bring enough home-baked gluten-free Christmas cookies to share with others, if possible, and bring ALL of the food that your family needs to eat. You'll only have to worry about cross-contamination....and it's probably better not to have your son in the... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be A Gluten Sensitivity?
rosetapper23 replied to Vale's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Her symptoms appear consistent with either celiac disease or gluten sensitivity (especially the raccoon eyes, runny nose, and ADHD symptoms). In small children, many parents have reported that behavior becomes radically different--the child may exhibit ADHD symptoms, whininesss, depression, aggression, clinginess, anxiety, dizziness, or headaches. It sounds... -

ARCHIVED 3 Year Old Boy With Severe Constipation - Should He Be Back On Diet?
rosetapper23 replied to qldmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Many young children with celiac appear to have a problem with constipation. My nephew, who my mother and I (both celiacs) believe has celiac, complains of constipation and tummy aches constantly. His parents don't want to bother having him tested because they like the lifestyle they have, and they know firsthand how difficult it can be to keep a child on... -
ARCHIVED I Had A Nightmare That I Ate A Crouton
rosetapper23 replied to Chaff's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're normal--I startle out of my sleep when I discover that I'm eating a sandwich. It freaks me out! I don't know if these nightmares ever go away--I've been gluten free for nearly nine years.....and, still, there are those sandwich nightmares! -
ARCHIVED Fading Fast. And I'm Just Getting Started :(
rosetapper23 replied to Cderbogh's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
flagbabyds is right--avoid processed foods for now. Then you don't even have to worry about reading the ingredients. Concentrate on eating only natural foods: meats, nuts, dairy, eggs, fruits, and veggies. Yes, lots of cooking.....but you'll feel better sooner. Someday you may be able to reintroduce corn into your diet. Until then, stick to natural... -
ARCHIVED Seeking Advice - Doctor Wants To Do Endoscopy
rosetapper23 replied to kbh75's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just wanted to reiterate what was said above....and that most celiacs are, in fact, overweight rather than underweight when they finally get diagnosed. If your doctor insists you couldn't possibly have celiac because of your weight issues, you should educate him on this fact. New reports come out every day, and I'm sure he doesn't read every new article...
