ARCHIVED Possible Dh- Need Some Advice
rosetapper23 replied to Mb17daisy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would strongly suggest avoiding iodine--eating iodine with gluten can cause DH. -
ARCHIVED Pain Under Ribs - What Is Physically Going On?
rosetapper23 replied to Sibenjam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I experienced this on my right side for MANY years until I found out I had celiac disease. It took a number of months for it to resolve, though, on a gluten-free diet. I always thought that it was caused by celiac because it corresponded with the beginning of the small intestine, where I assumed the most damage had occurred. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease And Miscarriage

I had three miscarriages but still gave birth to two healthy children. -
ARCHIVED Migrane Headaches And Celiacs
rosetapper23 replied to Kathi Jones's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I used to suffer terribly from migraines on almost a daily basis; however, after going gluten free, I never had another one. Yay! -
This is very interesting information! It's believed that my mother's celiac was triggered when she was five months' pregnant with me after having an emergency appendectomy. She became extremely anemic, and I was born with Rickets. My three siblings clocked in at over nine pounds, but I weighed only 7 pounds 7 oz. As a child and adult,...

ARCHIVED Teeth Problems
rosetapper23 replied to thegirlsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If your dentist is unaware of celiac, there are informational handouts available through various resources. I know that the Gluten Intolerance Group of North Americas has such a handout. Their website is www.gluten.net. -
ARCHIVED Help?! For Post-Diagnosis: Mayo Vs Columbia Vs Chicago, Etc. - How Do You Choose Which Specialist To Visit?
rosetapper23 replied to em80's topic in Doctors
I've heard all three doctors speak numerous times at conferences and workshops, and I believe that the specialist who may be able to help you the most is Dr. Murray, because he specializes in identifying other foods and factors that may be causing your distress. He believes in cross-reactivity (which, I know, a number of people on this forum do not believe...- 32 replies

ARCHIVED Some Things Are Worth Waiting For
rosetapper23 replied to Adalaide's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
What a wonderfully planned day for you! Happy Birthday! And I'm so happy that it turned out the way that you had hoped! -
ARCHIVED A Year, A Novel, A Thank You
rosetapper23 replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Adelaide, Yes, I hope you're open to taking the parent essential oils. They have to be taken in the correct ratio, though, which is why I provided the measurements. You should start feeling better immediately. Muscle pain and weakness were part of my life for 50 years before I learned about this apparent deficiency that I had. Other celiacs have been... -
ARCHIVED Eno Has Been A Miracle To Help Me Get Rid Of Gas!

ARCHIVED Ct Scans And Iodine
rosetapper23 replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I always say I can't have iodine in the contrast. So far, they've used some other type of contrast with me. I'm allergic to iodine both topically and internally, so there is no other option for me. As long as the technician is willing to use an alternative contrast, I would recommend that you keep refusing the iodine. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Foods Cause Gi Issues
rosetapper23 replied to celiacSuzie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would suspect that it might be the soy. I get a LOT of digestive pain from eating even the smallest amount....and lots of D. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Vaccine? Not For Me
rosetapper23 replied to Opa3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I fear that this vaccine won't protect me against DH.....so I'm uncertain whether I'd be interested in having the vaccine. On the other hand, my Sean can't wait to get it. Even if GOT the vaccine, I would continue to eat a gluten-free diet....and would rely on the vaccine's effect to protect me against accidental cross-contamination at restaurants... -
ARCHIVED A Year, A Novel, A Thank You
rosetapper23 replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sweet Adalaide, I believe we've all walked in your shoes--the tears, the frustrations, the comfort we wish we could get back again.....but it gets so much better, as you know. This next year will be MUCH easier for you--I guarantee! I'm a bit worried that you're still having muscle cramps, though. Have you tried mixing 1/2 teaspoon of organic flaxseed... -
ARCHIVED Itching, But Not Eczema, Or Dh, Or Shingles,....
rosetapper23 replied to jeanzdyn's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You may be sensitive to iodine. Do you take a thyroid medication (which would, of course, contain iodine). It took me years to stop itching, but, unfortunately, I'm sensitive to iodine because of the celiac disease....and the itch was incessant, since I couldn't stop taking my medication. -
ARCHIVED New With Questions
rosetapper23 replied to breiec's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Looks as though you may be suffering from a few nutritional deficiencies. A good start is to take Country Life Natural Vitamin D (it also contains Vitamin A, which I believe some of your symptoms indicate that you may be in low in) as well as medium-chain triglycerides, which will help your body absorb them. Also, you may wish to supplement with chelated... -
You might want to test for staph--sometimes it invades the DH. If this is the problem, antibiotics will help resolve the rash. (Sorry about the bleeding--ouch!)

ARCHIVED gluten-free Cat Food
rosetapper23 replied to Em314's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Blue Wilderness is grain free and all four of my cats love it. There are other brands that are also gluten free, but my cats didn't favor them. I feel so much safer serving them Blue Wilderness--now I don't have to wash my hands after serving them their food. I find Blue Wilderness at Petco, but I think PetSmart also sells it. -
ARCHIVED Stupid Mistake - I Should Know Better By Now..
rosetapper23 replied to LauraB0927's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ha ha! IH, you'll always have my heart! Happy Holidays to you! And I would LOVE to have a healthy 2013--my previous alternative therapies failed me so that the cancer has spread. However, I just started taking a new alternative therapy (Protocel) that has a great track record for sending metastasized cancer into remission 80% of the time. After six days... -
ARCHIVED Stupid Mistake - I Should Know Better By Now..
rosetapper23 replied to LauraB0927's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This has probably happened to all of us at one time or another. I remember once at a picnic, I accidentally picked up my husband's cup of beer rather than my cup of wine (they were both in those red picnic cups and looked pretty identical in color). I nearly panicked....and I couldn't believe being so inept and careless...but it happens. Hopefully, you... -
ARCHIVED New Here With Questions...
rosetapper23 replied to Sooz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you don't care about a DX, I'd just continue eating gluten free. You'll have your answer if you ever accidentally slip up in the future--if gluten's a problem, you'll know it! Not all celiacs have nutritional deficiencies, and I suspect because you've been "gluten light" for years, you probably don't have any. You might just want to get your iron, B... -

ARCHIVED Hidden Gluten In Processed Food?how Do I Spot It, Or Is It A Myth?
rosetapper23 replied to ldslara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When it comes to processed foods, if "gluten-free" isn't stated on the package, I call the company if I truly want to eat it. It's just not worth getting glutened.
