  1. Here are just a few recipes I found from a google search for "gluten free texas sheet cake." I personally like the sound of the first link... Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Now the fun begins experimenting!! I think hubby could have his cake and eat it too...
  2. You could just try putting her on a strict gluten free diet for a few months and see how she does. If you are done with celiac testing, then you don't need a doctor's permission to do this.
  3. I started out with extreme tachycardia. I was in the emergency room twice with a heart rate over 180. I also had extreme fatigue and later came the unrelenting reflux. I saw my PCP to many times to count. I then found an endocrinologist since I didn't think my PCP was managing my hashimoto's well. Through my endo it was discovered that I didn't convert...
  4. It looks as if you have a VERY positive IgA gliadin antibody and TTG. Although I'm not really sure why there is "normal" after your result of 111.6 for the TTG when normal should be less than 20 according to what you posted. The TTG is pretty specific for celiac. If you want to confirm this with a biopsy then stay on a normal diet. Given that you have...
  5. I've been under the weather for a week now. Started out as a head cold and now is going down into my chest. My chest and back hurt from coughing. My stomach feels great, with only a little upset from the post nasal drip. Weird thing is both of my kids have been complaing this week from stomach pains. The oldest one has been the worse with bad cramping...
  6. I work for an christian hospital and they are very much into vegan/vegetarian diets and promote it. When I first started they would serve the patients meat, but it wasn't an option for the employees. Now they serve both because there are so many that work here that are not of their religious affiliation. I think they were wasting alot of food and loosing...

    ARCHIVED Blood Type

I posted earlier but I'm O+ with med brown hair and green eyes. My youngest son is O+ also with medium brown hair and dark brown eyes. My oldest son is A+ light brown hair and the deepest blue eyes you ever saw. My dad and brother(whom I think have celiac) have B+. They were both toe heads when they were little and their hair eventually turned light brown...
  8. This is precisely what scares me and why I don't eat in my hospital cafeteria. I think if I was to be a patient I would make arrangements for my husband to bring me food. I'm getting more sensitive to cross contamination and there are some gluten free products I can't even tolerate.
  9. I used to have normal TSH and free T4, so nobody would treat my symptoms. When I first went to my endocrinologist my free T3 was tested and was low despite the other things being normal. The free T3 is a measure of the active hormone. Free T4 in the prehormone that breaks down into the T3. I was told I was not converting well and my endo now goes more...
  10. I agree with the rest. I think you will have to share some information, but not all the details.
  11. You have got great advice from the other posters. If she is still having these issues I would look at any possible ways she could be getting cross contamination in the house. You mentioned you still are using regular flour. It might be necessary to make the house gluten free or a restricted shared house. I do have a shared house, but my husband is very...
  12. You may want to consider getting a full thyroid panel done also. Tests include: TSH, free T3, free T4, and thyroid antibody tests. Low thyroid can cause fatigue and other symptoms. Thyroid problems are commonly seen with celiacs.
  13. My oldest boy has negative celiac blood test and a negative biopsy. He has also tested negative on skin testing for food allergies. My son's allergist said the same thing that skin testing won't tell you about intolerances. You have to do an elimination to find out for sure. That's what we are doing with my oldest boy with gluten. His allergist feels...
  14. Ahh, your making me blush.
  15. Our pediatrician refused to order the blood tests on my boys after I was diagnosed. He flat out said no because in his opinion they were fine. I was furious. Fortunately or unfortunately my kids were seeing an allergist/immunologist at the time also. I called explained the situation and they were more than accomidating. They asked me where I wanted the...
  16. I've seen intestinal worms during a barium enema. This was many, many, many years ago when I was a student radiographer during my clinicals. During fluoroscopy we saw it moving around in the large intestine. Something you don't see every day so we were facinated... As Raven said you can call ahead and have the doctor give you the lab order/materials...
  17. I now have one for each of my boys. They still use their regular lunch boxs on days they don't take the lunch and go system. I agree that the thermos works better for soupier things or rice. I bought small flat glad/rubbermaid storage containers to put the food in. I also will wrap things up in foil. O.K, things I have put in their lunch: -tacos/taco...
  18. I have a diagnosis for my youngest son(symptoms, postitive tTG, improvement gluten free, and return of symptoms upon gluten challenge), so there was no problem there. The only issue my husband had with it was that we didn't do the scope. I didn't see the need, but hubby regretted going along with my decision. After he was gluten free 4.5 months we decided...
  19. I feed my cat and dog Taste Of The Wild. It is a completly grain free pet food. My dog and cat are doing wonderful on it.
  20. I really wasn't scared. I knew that it would happen since after the pregnancies I wouldn't need as much. I ended up on a higher dose after pregnancy than before, just not as much as I was on while pregnant. The doctor the first time around was really good. Second time the doctor was adequate.(different doctors). Third time I really didn't know it was...
  21. I've been hyper three times from over medication. After both of my pregnancies and 6 months after I went gluten free. During my pregnancies it took quite awhile to get my medication dosage right. After delivery I was still taking the increase in meds. Let me tell you the first time I was shaking and trembling so bad I thought I would drop the baby. I...
  22. The chia seeds and psylium gel may come in handy if they want the one that makes zombie snot!
  23. Well, we have come up with a sucessful replacement for the bubbling brains, zombie skin and bugs. For the zombie skin and bugs, I did a mixture of sugar, packet of koolaid and a packet of unflavored geletin. Mixed a couple of scoops with a few scoops of water. It worked great. I could have used just jello the same way, but we were having so much fun mixing...
  24. For me I probably would react to touching the soap not on my skin but by contaminating other things or putting my hands to my face. I am extremely intolerant to oats even gluten free oats. I have to call companies to see if they process any gluten free oats and if they do I won't use their products. I won't touch any personal care products with it in either...
