  1. WOAH... Thats interesting. But... I am perfectly happy being gluten free as well! I dont really feel like I am missing so much, the diet is not so hard when you are single!
  2. hello everyone! This is kind of long, but Im looking for some help and advice to figure out what my symptoms are coming from. I have been gluten free for 2 months now, and have experienced SUCH amazing relief of GI disturbances and increased energy. Lately though, I have gotten my gnawing in the stomach and even bad stools/gas/bloating and even some...

Wow that sounds like a bummer. Im sorry to hear about your recent bout of sickness! I wish I had more to say that would be helpful but... MAN, that bites! A lot of people can sometimes develop other food sensitivities. In my experience, my thyroid is out of whack and until I got that under control, I was very tired, sick feeling, cold all the time...
  4. Hello! Im going to Milwaukee in December, so does anyone have any good restaurant/coffee shop tips for gluten free dining? I heard that there is a huge gluten-free store there that is awesome, so I can look foreward to that Thanks, guys! Haley
  5. Hi there! I noticed that my levothyroxine tablets have changed brand since I changed pharmacies, and today I have a slight scratchy feeling and other moderate/minor bowel issues. I just started them today. I do have residual effects from a slight glutening over the weekend... *the bratwurst were NOT simmered in Redbridge... they used some other non gluten...
  6. Yes... 11lbs in 2 months. I think it was partially because before I learned to bake I was eating a lot of pre-made gluten free foods, like bread and stuff, until I started eating more naturally gluten free (like rice, potatoes, etc). But if your body has not been able to get nutrients... whoa watch out! Now that you are healing your gut, you can now take...
  7. GLuten free for 2 months I think Ive been hit 2 or 3 times none of the above problems with kidneys or liver The only times I have a no-no is a sip of my dad's homebrewed beer. Otherwise I am vigilant... feeling good is better than cheating!
  8. Sometimes mozzarella cheese, if it is the pre-shredded kind, can have some anti-caking agents that my other gluten-free friend says can contain gluten. If you used pre-shredded, take a look at that and see.
  9. Wow.... I was eating and eating after becoming gluten free too. And what seems to be one of my glutening symptoms (I am still learning the subtle responses my body has to small amounts) is wanting to eat things when not hungry. Im almost 2 months into this, and it was interesting to go through. I put on 8 pounds (of muscle mass... Im a massage therapist...
  10. oh man... this kinda reminds me of how I get when Ive eaten something no-no. Wierd! I get a feeling like Ive swallowed some glass shards, and get spacey, moody and feel overall not well. And fatigued! Im glad to know that not everyone has gastro sx right away... for me the glass shards feeling seems to come a few hours after the fact. Good luck with...
  11. Yep.. totally agree! I cant do raw spinach! TJs does a good job I think. They dont try to cover up- its just important that we read labels where we have doubts!
  12. WESTSOY SOY MILK?????? Ok.. this is wierd, because I just got past a mystery glutening... Ive had a few soy lattes lately and Im wondering if this could be the root of the problem!!!???
  13. Yep, according to some of the other gluten free websites, they are OK.....
  14. Has anyone had any experiences with alka seltzer? I have the gluten-feeling and Ive been brainstorming any new things Ive done lately, and one of the things is taking alka seltzer at work on Friday... The time frame would fit my body's reaction time as Ive been feeling the sandpapering of my upper GI tract for a day and a half. But then again, there are...
  15. I know that I react REALLY REALLY badly to Midol. I dont know it's gluten status as I stopped taking it years ago (before I found out I can't have gluten!) due to allergic reactions to it. My sx with midol are swollen mouth, eyes, and then tons of canker sores! I really hope that didn't happen to you! But I am not sure that any of that had to do with...
  16. Hi everyone! Ive been doing really great on the diet- barely any Sx since starting (only the times that Ive gotten glutened! ) But this is wierd. Ive been feeling that familiar ''someone is sandpapering my guts'' for a day and a half now and Im wondering what I could have done. The lactose feeling is different, thats more bloating. Ive been...
  17. If you go to their website, you can click on contact us, then they have a list of FAQs. They have a thing about gluten about 5 or 6 questions down. I looked to check on their fajita mix that I am going to have tonight! I was wondering specifically about maltodextrin since it has ''malt'' in it, but I read that in the US its almost always made from corn...
  18. Hmmm... tough to tell... they probably wont. But when I managed an espresso shop (a mom and pop business, very independent!) I made sure to keep rice milk on hand. There are even a few places that do hemp milk. Explore some of the smaller shops if you can, and do write starbucks to start doing hemp, rice, or coconut milk! BUT- the squeaky wheel gets...
  19. OH*MY*GOSH! This is the best gluten free thing I have tasted- ever. I cant believe it! They are just like the ones at starbucks... I sprinkled a little gluten free granola on each one and they turned out fantastic!
  20. Yes, check out the almond flour recipes. Also, there are other grains out there that may work for you if you can handle them... buckwheat, teff and others. Carol Fenster has a bunch of flourless cake recipes too; try googling that and see what you come up with! Good luck!
  21. wow, I feel just like you do! I went gluten free after my MD told me that she suspected Celiac. My bloodwork was negative, and I was pretty gluten-free for the week and a half before the test, so it could have been skewed. Now that Ive tried the diet and had my bad digestion go away, and FINALLY gained some muscle mass (!!), I feel that I may have tested...
  22. Mrs May's fruit and nut bars are gluten free! THey have those and another brand of gluten-free bar also.... The Mrs. May's ones are nutrient dense, so if you need to gain weight, they will help that too!
  23. Hi there! Was recently on vacation, and despite my very best efforts, I got glutened. One was eating from a platter of food that had, among other things, Spaetzle on it, and the other time was when I ordered pumpkin ice cream (which was actually pumpkin PIE) and crunched into a piece of pie crust! There could have been a few other times, such as...
  24. Wow, that sounds really scary for you. I did also read somewhere that lots of protein in the diet is not the best thing for autoimmune disorderly-people . What I would do is arm yourself with the research you have done, and talk to your doctor! What you are experiencing is really not normal, and you deserve to know whats going on! Good luck!
  25. Carol fenster has a great one based on sorghum, tapioca and cornstarch. Google Carol Fenster pizza crust and you might just find it. It was EXCELLENT!
