  1. Hi Scotty! Something is not agreeing with your digestive system. Is that a possitive tTG IgG you mention? If so, with your bowel issues I would make sure all the proper celiac testing has been done and then remove all gluten from your life -- I like to say I'm 99.99% gluten free as no one can be 100% gluten-free if they venture out their door. Once...
  2. Mommida is spot on -- no dumb questions when it comes to understanding this process -- one day all our doctors will understand these tests as well as their patients
  3. Happy 5th Anniversary to you both! Enjoy your pizza night : )
  4. Welcome Trent's Mom or Dad? Did he have a complete celiac antibody panel? Total Serum IgA tTG - IgA and IgG EMA - IgA DGP - IgA and IgG Any nutrient testing? Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, D, K, Iron, Ferritin, Copper, Zinc Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Complete Metabolic Panel (CMP)? Were you gluten-free or gluten light for any period...
  5. Your genes come from your parents -- it is possible to have a pair of any gene if your parents happen to pass a copy of the same gene to you. Gene testing can be done from birth - it cannot diagnose Celiac Disease on it's own -- yet can be an important part of the puzzle when diagnosis is difficult.
  6. Thanks Everyone -- she is only a bit more sweet and cuddly than usual - otherwise just the sneeze -- saw her off hunting through the neighborhood yesterday as normal. Shadow -- I read about the allergy posibility last night -- lol -- figures my little girlie would develop allergies! Watching for the day -- tomorrow being Friday will be decision day...
  7. So my dear baby girl - fearsome huntress - queen of her realm - weighing in at 11 pounds on a good day, yet the tomcats in the hood thrice her size quiver in their paws when my teeny - tiny Shelby struts by - is sneezing - been three days at random times - no other symptoms - research says I should wait for other symptoms for the vet......what do you say...
  8. Everyone Welcome - for the next round of Tiramisu - recipe and taste right - says the expert at the table this eve - lol - I was actually a bit more worried about how long to soak the lady fingers - directions were unclear just said make sure the center wasn't still crunchy - soooo next time I know - double dunk in coffee should be perfect. What I served...
  9. Bon Voyage Irish and Welcome Home Mindwarp! Yay for no glutenings on the road - always makes it that much more enjoyable to travel when gluten stays off our path IH is correct -- my travel kitchen got packed in less than a half hour for camping last weekend -- first gluten-free trip took hours to plan and more to execute - and that was traveling...
  10. Thank you Neroli! I love the idea of this thread and will be back to tell a story.....
  11. hmmmm....pizza for dinner sounds perfect for the end of another busy day -- been in bed right after dinner last two nights -- nothing bad just tired from actually having life again! Last night was Lamb Steaks with some sort of parsnip/sweet potato/garlic mashed dealio -- a new produce market opened up the road with a butcher conducting business in plain...
  12. Envious here.... The Kids are Alright -- The Who
  13. Inflammation causes joint and muscular pain. I tested negative on rheumy blood tests for decades - SED, CRP, etc. YET....I consistently had worsening muscle and joint pain to the point that I could no longer function. It is my belief that the damage caused by long undiagnosed Celiac was the cause of all of my autoimmune symptoms. It took a very long...
  14. Love Street -- The Doors
  15. It is tough to transition, but you will be amazed how many foods are gluten free naturally. Honestly, I think the transition is going to be harder on you and Dad -- kids adapt quickly, just don't say "you can't eat that" too many times -- stick with substitution and distraction. Little girls love to learn the rules of anyone's special needs -- by the time...
  16. no worries....I laughed out loud when I read your original post Love the asphault cam -- those were some good bets until the toyotas started popping Our family's favorites have always been Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson -- but have too many others I root for Mark Martin, Jeff Burton (& Ward when he was racing), Little E has my heart -- and I...
  17. Welcome Adelajoy! Wanted to add my opinion on the need for endoscopy when diagnosed with Celiac Disease. When I finally had a celiac antibody test after decades of doctors misdiagnosing me and choosing the wrong tests for me -- I was extremely thankful that we finally had a reason for my increasing severe health over the years. Fortunately I was...
  18. Doh! I succussfully avoided the news as we decided to watch the Oscars last night and the race tonight - who woulda thought I find out the results of the Daytona 500 on the dinner thread? Oh well - will still finish watching the race - we - however are huge Jimmy Johnson fans - he is our hometown boy and my hubby and I watched his first win at the California...
  19. Happy Birthday Colleen! Belated wishes that this year is filled with joy - sent from a beautiful beach in Santa Barbara
  20. I use nuts.com - great company! I can only eat almonds and was having a hell of a time finding completely gluten free raw almonds. I now buy them in bulk to make the per pound rate affordable with shipping then use a vacuum sealer to make one pound bags that store well.
  21. I'd love to find a safe brand as well. Need to replace my beloved cocoa powder if at all possible. Thanks!
  22. Yes! Springy...my heirloom garden awaits...wonder how much ground work will take place with the boss away? Ya, not much....off to pack more - missing the old motorhome 'bout now. Sure is nice to just hop in and go!
  23. My family likes Pamela's Bread Mix -- admittedly it is much better fresh -- within 12 hours -- once in the frig it becomes crumbly. We made our own for a long time, then switched to Udi's and Canyon Bakehouse. I suggest trying one loaf and if you like it you can purchase a 25lb bag at a huge discount. Also of note -- we tried many recipes and...
  24. Let it Snow! Let it Snow! -- Frank Sinatra was thinking 'My Way" but couldn't help myself
  25. Great Work PositiveThinking!!! It really does help to be prepared and be partners with our doctors. Have a wonderful weekend
