  1. Um....ya...me mind said Bangles...the fingers didn't cooperate
  2. First step - as others have already said - drop the bananas and do not retry them for six months. If you improve - great! If you do not - ask your doctor to order a full celiac blood panel - you must keep eating gluten for these tests to be accurate. The tests measure the antibodies created in reaction to gluten ingestion. The problem is...
  3. My teens were pleasantly surprised their first gluten-free Christmas when all the candy canes we checked were gluten-free. I too use the left overs crushed up in brownies, cake/cupcake frosting or just sprinkled on top with a drizzle of icing - yummy.
  4. Last year I was trying to find extra large fresh birds for a deal and people were a bit prickly -- a very nice butcher at my local store went to look in back for extra large birds for me -- found the last two and thought it was going to start a riot when I put both in my cart -- luckily it was one of the rare missions that I had my hubby along to block while...
  5. I love the cuddle feet pic - I've got a similar set that generally look quite nice even when the rest of me looks and feels like crap

  8. I find a nice batch of brownies helps in moments such as these. Betty Crocker work great - especially if you add a full cup of chocolate chips to the mix Before long you'll have plenty of go too treats when this happens - but I will not lie - I've been know to stomp my feet and throw a few mental daggers at my family when they are crunching potato...
  9. Hi Ruby! So sorry that you are at the stage where you know gluten is a problem and are still asked to eat it. It doesn't help much, but with strong reactions it may help to limit your consumption to just a slice or two of glutenous bread at night rather than for breakfast -- this doesn't help everyone, but it might help a touch until the tests are run...
  10. Hi Suzie - you are not alone in the Homeland Addiction -- my hubby and I are Hooked! Had a hard time getting into it last year mid-season so we caught up with the marathon weekend they had before the new season started -- you will never guess what's coming -- no worries I won't post any spoilers -- at least not unless the fog rolls in No smileys ...
  11. Welcome albybaby! Wanted to let you know the original poster hasn't been back since their last post in this thread a year ago. There is no problem adding info to older threads - just start a new one if you are wanting to start a conversation.

  13. This is a great idea - and often easier said than done. You can do it! When in doubt come here...there is always someone hanging around that has been through very similar frustrations.
  14. I do eat eggs with fresh vegies and leftover meat most mornings - the other mornings are paleo pumpkin or apple muffins/breads made with coconut flour. In a hurry I eat apple slices with almond butter. When I was not yet grain free I frequently ate rice or quinoa in the morning with a bit of cinnamon and apples. I've also heard a lot of people that...
  15. Yes, you bring your own too. You keep it simple....you have had some serious health problems that are related to food intolerance. Regardless of NCGI or Celiac, If you eat the items you are currently avoiding you will become ill. If these are folks that want specific info and you feel comfortable sharing then explain how thyroid, digestive and autoimmune...
  16. Congratulations on four weeks! Are you hosting this meal? If so, why two gravies? Are you making the three types of stuffing? I make two since going gluten-free -- corn which I make very similar to traditional stuffing just substitute the pepperidge farm stuffing cubes I used to use with cornbread and wild rice/cranberry. As for leftovers ...
  17. Yay! New job - that deserves a nice dinner out - double celebration for your 10 year Silly Yak Birthday - you deserve an extra slice of that cheesecake I know how angry you are. Ten years ago my Primary doc's nurse told me over the phone all my tests results for a multitude of annual tests were "normal" - I asked her to double check as I had prior...
  18. Welcome Jo! First - congratulations on your pregnancy. Second - don't eat more gluten than you need to - a slice or two of glutenous bread is sufficient. I may get slammed for suggesting this, but since you've already tested positive and are pregnant - if it were me - I would remove gluten now. Yes, the endoscopy is most accurate while still ingesting...
  19. Absolutely bring your own food, along with printed information regarding Celiac Disease to leave with her when you leave. If you tell her in advance, be simple and clear. Ingesting gluten is harmful to my health. Even minute amounts of gluten cause my immune system to destroy my digestive system which leads to serious health problems. I am not asking...
  20. What is really scary is while trying to open Dave's link on my cell I almost tweeted this topic to the world - doh! BTW - I don't find the orig info scary - only sad that people can and often do pray on the unknown aspects of gluten enteropathy to line their pockets. Read as much as possible about Celiac, but do consider the source and their motivation...
  21. I agree with mushroom. I would only add get written or electrinic copies of all test results. Was the tTG-IgA the only celiac antiboody test run? If so, remain on gluten - if you can - and have the full celiac panel along with nutrient testing. Nutritional deficicies is another indicator of the malabsorption found in Celiac Disease. Let us know...
