Hi Kiki- You can do this - insert cheerleader icon here It's a tough dance - you'll take steps forward - you'll take steps backward - but you will learn the dance and then one day you'll suddenly realize the steps aren't as hard as they once were. Hang in there -- the first months are the hardest -- I promise. Hugs -- vent as much as...

ARCHIVED Repercussions Of Cheating! :(
GottaSki replied to a84c72's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Everyone! I've read this entire thread and think this is a shining example of how the electronic word can be misunderstood by many. Perhaps if we were able to sit around one of our kitchen tables and chat together we would see the love and compassion of everyone along with the conviction and epiphony moments clearly. How about we call... -
ARCHIVED How Long Does It Take To Heal?
GottaSki replied to charisvet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The answer for both of these questions is everyone is different. Some heal completely within months, others take years. Some notice improvement from probiotics within weeks, others don't notice they are helping -- I took them my first year gluten-free, but did not think they were helping - I was wrong - whether or not you know probiotics are working... -
ARCHIVED Im New :)
GottaSki replied to joseyheather22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! In 4-6 weeks you will likely know far more than your doctor about Celiac Disease. Start with the Newbie 101 thread, then ask as many questions as you need. Transitioning to a gluten-free life is not easy, but it does become much easier with time. Let us know how we can help -
ARCHIVED Vitamin B Injections: I Am Considering It.
GottaSki replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Diana- We found - upon recommendation from our holistic doc -- if we take enzymes before meals and Betaine HCL about a half our after the meal (he actually suggested an hour after, but we kept forgetting them) things digest a bit better. Perhaps you could take your supplements during your largest meal sandwiched between enzymes and HCL? It is a... -

ARCHIVED Biopsy Inconclusive
GottaSki replied to shelly40's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Great news Shelly - not that you have Celiac - just that you have a serious health condition that can be managed by the food you choose. Read as much as you can and ask as many questions as needed - it really does make a very tough transition progress much more quickly. Thanks for letting us know the update- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Biopsy Inconclusive
GottaSki replied to shelly40's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Shelly! Positive blood work. Damage to the small intestine consistant with Celiac Disease. Family history with genes confirmed. I don't know what your doctor is waiting for - you most certainly do not need their blessing to begin living gluten-free. Remove all gluten and note symptom improvement. Consider taking your dietary results along...- 11 replies

ARCHIVED Think I May Have Celiac Sensitivity, Diagnosed Diverticulosis
GottaSki replied to lcn1010's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Jeez - makes me sad to hear of yet another dismissive doctor - running a full celiac panel in patients that present with celiac symptoms will become common place one day. Until then - there are three paths to choose from: Wait for the biopsy results - if possitive re-request proper celiac testing. Remove gluten now. Remove it ALL for no less... -
I use hydrogen peroxide too. My inner ear gets itchy whenever my body is flaring. Never heard of olive oil - will give that a try next time. Shadow- so sorry to hear of your professor's passing. If you are feeling up to it get to the memorial - it doesn't take away the loss, but certainly helps process it. Hoping you are feeling strong very soon...

ARCHIVED Think I May Have Celiac Sensitivity, Diagnosed Diverticulosis
GottaSki replied to lcn1010's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree you should remove gluten as soon as testing is complete. I do think it would be wise to have your doctor order: Total Serum IgA tTG IgG AGA IgG DGP IgA and IgG before you remove gluten. Welcome to the Forum - Hope you are able to remove gluten soon as your symptoms are consistent with Celiac Disease. Good Luck to you -
ARCHIVED Always Bring Your Own Food!
GottaSki replied to bartfull's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well said and absolutely correct! My life simplified when my intolerances increased - it was no longer a choice to try to eat gluten-free in other's homes - once the option was gone it really was a big relief. I now know how to let my host/hostess know that I'll bring my own for all situations. There is no reason removing gluten is not enough of... -

ARCHIVED Should I Re-Test?
GottaSki replied to JDThornton's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hold off on removing gluten until you are sure all testing is complete. Request written or electronic copies of the tests that were run. If you are unsure what they mean, post them here - many of us can help interpret. Many doctors only run one or two of the complete celiac panel. I would push for complete blood tests along with an endoscopy... -
ARCHIVED Can Eating Nuts Make Your Symptoms Worse?
GottaSki replied to confused123's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Many foods can be irritating to the healing gut - or as Bartfull said - you could be intolerant of some items until you have healed. I can eat almonds, but not cashews, pistachios, walnuts and a few others. Perhaps wait a while and try almond butter or almond flour to see if almonds are an issue or just harsh on your system right now. -

ARCHIVED Sick For 23 Years And Wondering About Gluten
GottaSki replied to jackibar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As long as you have been eating gluten - at least a slice or two of glutenous bread per day or the equivalent - your test results should be as accurate as they are going to get. You might want to make a gluten bucket list and eat some of those items until you find out your results/decide all testing is complete.
