I'll third Mariposa Bakery....my kids love their chocoloate pumpkin muffins and just about everything else we have had from there. The Bay Area is awesome for gluten-free dining -- try checking the find me gluten free website or app -- should find lots of options where sillyaks have left safe/not safe details. Have a great trip

ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
GottaSki replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Perhaps a doctor change? She was incorrect about what a positive AGA means, which is not uncommon now and was very common four years ago. My advice remains...return to eating gluten and have a full celiac antibody panel run after you have been back on gluten for at least six weeks -- twelve would be better. My opinion stems from watching many... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result

I agree...positive is positive. Larger positive numbers do not necessarily correlate to more intestinal damage and vice versa. -

Hey Miss FancyPants....made me look up French Green Beans....learned my something new for the day at 5:01am...might be a new record : ) Added shredded cauliflower to my baked Mac n cheese last night.....my less than enthusiast veggie eater was suspicious so I told him....he said he tasted it and the other men told him no way....I think he actually could... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
GottaSki replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Galixie! How do you know you do not have Celiac Disease? The positive Gliadin IgA does mean something. If you are still ingesting gluten, I highly recommend a new complete celiac antibody panel. tTG-IgA (Tissue Transglutaminase) tTG-IgG EMA-IgA (Endomysial) DGP-IgA (Deamidated Gliadin Peptide) DGP-IgG AGA-IgA -- I'm not clear... -
ARCHIVED Wondering Accuracy Of Blood Test For An 8 Yr. Old
GottaSki replied to mommyo's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Longer with a steady amount of one slice of gluten containing bread is best. Twelve weeks is what the University of Chicago recommends. With kids it is tough....but as Nicole already mentioned...make sure your doctor orders both Deamidated Gliadin Peptide tests: DGP-IgA DGP-IgG Good luck to you -

LMAO...uh oh...Mom do you know what that means? I don't think I want to be in trouble before we have had the opportunity to meet in person. Hugs, Ski! Dinner changed slightly...ribs, baked mac-n-cheese and broccoli all around -

Hi Irish's Mom! Being sent to one's room isn't so bad at our age...as long as we can have a good book to read Addie---picked up a few herbs today for my "huge" herb garden -- decided this year is not going to be the year of the backyard to garden transformation -- keeping it small on my patio. Anyway, I found Chocolate Mint -- smells fantastic... -

Pot Pie turned out great -- simple pork, carrot, sweet potato, onion and garlic in a rosemary gravy. One problem -- my super fantastic pie crust that everyone raved about that I hadn't tasted due to the strawberry pie I used it for -- was good in my opinion, not great...perhaps it was the freeze/defrost cycle -- but considering it was my first taste of... -
Glad to hear you are improving! I would also forgive her. She wasn't trying to kill you...she was weak and probably feeling guilty much of the time and/or didn't really "get" how careful we need to be. Now that you have improved, if she is still in your life, she undoubtedly understands that the minor exposures were impeding your improvement and makes...

ARCHIVED Blood Test Results Are Back - Can You Decipher?
GottaSki replied to bvolvo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree with Nicole. I answered in another thread and asked a couple questions about your symptoms as I wasn't sure what triggered the celiac antibody tests and whether you had removed gluten prior to testing. -
ARCHIVED Six Months Gluten Free--New Symptoms?
GottaSki replied to Nicole Thomas's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome Nicole, Kathy and Gwynann! For me, when diagnosed my digestive symptoms improved, but my joint and muscle pain got worse. If your pain continues, you should be tested for other autoimmune disorders, minimally for inflammation. One very good tool is a food/symptom log. Other foods can contribute to joint pain. A log can often help reveal... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Result
GottaSki replied to bvolvo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
These antibody tests are indeed negative for Celiac Disease. We're you ingesting gluten daily when they were run? How long have you been diagnosed with Hashimoto's? In your first post you mentioned symptoms - if you list your symptoms, we have several members very knowledgeable on thyroid issues. Hang in there -
They have continually come down over six months. I think you simply need to wait for the one year mark. Six months ago you had two celiac antibodies over 150...that is very high, now they are nearly all in the normal ranges. Have your Iron or D levels risen since removing gluten? As long as nutrient levels are correcting, celiac antibody levels are...

Taxes are looking better than I had guesstimated!!!! GottaSki replied to GottaSki's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, at Petco, and the reason I posted -- the gluten-free beer was the same price as "regular" beer and at every single beer concession stand. Still stadium prices, but at least there was no UPcharge for gluten-free. I don't personally drink beer at the park. I drink red wine, which is gluten-free and also, conveniently located at every concession stand... -
