I want to add one more thought. Know your audience. With all the foods I have had to eliminate I would never visit a corn or peanut allergy forum for support and then post that I had just eaten really sweet corn on the cob or peanut butter cookies. Yes, that is exactly how I felt when you talk about soft pretzels -- some of us miss them and many...

ARCHIVED Anyone Get A Fever When Glutened?
GottaSki replied to kb27's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Since he was at camp...my guess would be he caught a bug and got glutened. Lots of water and rest...hope he is feeling better very soon -
Wow Julie- You have been a member since I got here. Many times I have seen you post of the items you and your daughter cannot eat due to multiple allergies. While it is tough to live on a restricted diet, there is a big difference between choosing to remove foods at times and a medical need to remove all sources of gluten for life -- as is needed...

Welcome Scott! All cooking fools are most welcome here -- no wolves here - although they are one of my favorite animals What we are cooking is the basis so there are lots of wonderful ideas for gluten-free and other intolerance cooking. We also like to have fun and sometimes simply act like we are sitting around in the kitchen while one of us... -

Hi Sandy! While there is no "cure", based on your reaction to the ingestion of gluten you should do everything possible to avoid all sources of gluten and cross-contamination. There is no part way with living gluten-free if you have Celiac Disease or Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. As Ninja replied...you indeed have one copy of DQ2 - that combined... -

Great Idea! Butternut Oven Fries Oven 350 Slice Butternut Squash into fry like pieces Spread in single layer on baking sheet Toss with Olive Oil to cover Add salt and pepper -- fresh chopped garlic is good too. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Note: Slicing Butternuts into fry shapes is a bit tough -- this recipe works just as well... -

Actually, what I said is Dr. Harmon is an excellent celiac doctor and still may be the best choice if you want to establish care with a gastro that has celiac knowledge. I stand by that -- if you are not improving, you need an excellent team of doctors -- a Primary that will think outside the box - or at least consider all possibilities, along with the... -

ARCHIVED Never Tested....and Wish I Had
GottaSki replied to Wakingup's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No it can't confirm Celiac Disease because about 30% of population have the genes associated with Celiac, while only an estimated 1% have celiac trigger. What it can do is add another piece to the diagnostic puzzle - especially when a person removes gluten, has symptoms improve and is unable to tolerate gluten for the required challenge necessary to attempt... -

The estimates are produced by the research of the leading celiac centers worldwide. Current numbers are estimated to be: 1% of population is estimated to have Celiac. The numbers vary only slightly between countries with some European countries reporting slightly higher estimates. The numbers for NCGS have risen sharply as understanding, awareness... -

Latest numbers I saw from UoC was 85% of celiacs remain undiagnosed and that doesn't begin to touch on the numbers of those estimated to have NCGS. Paul is spot on....our doctors have some catching up to do! And, yes Bartie is the member I thinking of....glad the description was fairly accurate -

Thanks Everyone! Think I'm going to double check dam astra...removing gluten doesn't equal gluten-free in my book. Honey is actually better for you than Agave...unfortunately I just don't like the flavor -- had to overcome my extreme lifelong dislike of all things coconut and wasn't able to do it with honey although I do use it to bake some things and I used to mix it with jam for my kids lunches -

For me....I've been limiting my sugar to fruit for nearly two years (mostly because things that use sugar have many other ingredients I cannot eat) ... oh I do use agave with coconut milk to make chocolate mousse for myself which is yummy. Nope...you were dx'd by blood and biopsy if I remember correctly. I was speaking of a member without official diagnosis that has no doubt that she has Celiac Disease based on her mother's celiac and her own removal of gluten and symptom resolution. She does not want or need an official diagnosis. -
