  12. I was down to 80 some pounds when I was diagnosed and I am up to about 113 now. When you are gluten free your body starts absorbing the nutrients again so you can put on the weight. Coconut oil and milk, peanut butter, nuts, and those kinda of things can really add up the calories. I used to make smoothies and put alot of coconut oil and sunflower seeds in...
  13. All the symptoms of celiac can be a sign of damage. To really know if you have the damage you have to get checked. However, a biopsy is only good for seeing how much damage is done. A biopsy can rule celiac in but can't rule it out. Weight loss and diarrhea are somewhat considered the classic signs of damage but some people with extreme damage show no symptoms...

  22. Yes that can cause his problems. Some people see reactions right away while some don't and my reactions last a good 2 weeks and sometimes longer. He really needs to learn to stick with the diet because it can be life threatening if not followed.
  23. Refractory Celiac is very very rare. Say you have a biopsy done and it shows major damage so you go 100% gluten free. Refractory means after you go gluten free, the damage is still there and has shown no sign of healing. In this case, you usually have to go on steroids. As far as dying from celiac goes, if you have celiac and do not go gluten free or...
  24. If it is made on the same lines as wheat but cleaned in between, I usually will eat it and have only really had a problem with one brand..most have been safe when it comes to that(and I am sensitive) However, that is a personal decision to make. But if it says may contain traces of wheat I am less likely to even give it a try.
