  1. Dairy for me as well - I was dx'd with lactose intolerance as an infant, but I can now eat cheese without horrid stomach cramps! Also, I can eat rice without bloating up like a balloon now. On the other hand, I have noticed post DX that corn products make my gut hurt really bad.
  2. I bought the TEMPT kind (I didn't realize it used to be something else). I just wanted to try something new. And it was chunky! I really only used it in coffee... blech!
  3. Regarding anxiety, I can say that mine was drastically improved after going gluten free. I do, however, get panic attacks if glutened.
  4. I take NOW brand Super Enzymes. It has Betaine, Pancreatin, Papain, Cellulase, Ox Bile, Pepsin, Bromelain, and Papaya powder. It has none of the following: sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish, preservatives. I don't like all of NOW's vitamins, but these weren't too bad price wise ($10).
  5. All Blistex is gluten-free last I checked. I don't know if Badger Balm has SPF in it or not, but all of their lip balms are gluten-free. h2o makes an Eye, lip, and nose "balm" that is SPF 30 that I believe is gluten-free.
  6. Thank you both for the encouraging responses. The weird thing about it is I don't feel as horrible as I usually do two days after a glutening. My migraine only lasted a day - usually it is three or four solid days in a row. I am not terribly bloated, but it will be a day or two before I find out if I have the big C (I did have D about four hours after...
  7. I made a very simple sweet potato recipe. I peeled and then baked the sweet potatoes. I diced about four apples and baked those, too. Once those were soft, I mixed them with a tablespoon of butter and whipped them in my KitchenAid. I put them in a pan and topped them with a walnut, brown sugar, and butter mixture and baked that for about a half hour...
  8. So on Thanksgiving, my wonderful mother decided early on to make EVERYTHING gluten free with one exception: stuffing. She made a pan of rice and sausage stuffing for me, and a pan of rice, sausage and bread stuffing for everyone else. Okay, so dumb me was speaking to my grandmother when I was making my plate. I was not paying attention. I made whoopsie...
  9. Ener-G Light Tapioca bread does not need to be refrigerated or frozen. But it definitely needs to be toasted!
  10. I second the two above me - there were certain noticable differences within the first few days/weeks. But, in my own experience, the biggest difference was after about the 8 month mark, because by that time, I was able to read labels better. That is the most important thing: ALWAYS read labels! I don't care if I bought the same product last week and it...
  11. Yes. I am talking about the candy company. She says "Nessle Crunch Bars" instead of "Nestle Crunch Bars" The other ones I understand are a Midwest thing. MALK and WARSH drive me batty. I think she made NESSLE up all on her own. She's still my memaw though, despite the blatant butchering of the English language. Memaw and Pepaw... now there...
  12. I have three, all courtesy of my grandmother: "malk" = milk "ness-le" = Nestle "ma-soo-lee-um" = mausoleum Oh! And "warsh" for wash. So four.
  13. I have two Thanksgivings to go to on Thursday. My fiance's family has their Thanksgiving all day, so we will be going there early in the morning and later in the afternoon. My parents have theirs at precisely 2:00. My fiance's family has no patience for my eating habits. None. Adam (my fiance) thinks they care, but his mom is one of those people...
  14. I can find the white cake, the cookies, and the brownies pretty much everywhere around me - but I have NEVER seen the Devil's Food. Looks like I have a mission after Thanksgiving!!
  15. Turkey, unstuffed. Rice and sausage stuffing Mashed taters and gravy (with cornstarch) Regular gluten-y stuffing for the rest of my family Green beans w/ olive oil and slivered almonds Corn Sweet potato fries Homemade cranberry sauce Rolls (reminds me: need to make rolls for myself!) Pumpkin pie for everyone else Flourless chocolate cake for...
  16. From Prairie Farms: We do have a gluten free list. I have attached it. If you need anything else, please feel free to ask. (See attached file: GlutenFreeList.doc) Thank you for being a Prairie Farms consumer. Sherri Boehm Prairie Farms Dairy 1100 Broadway Street Carlinville, IL 62626 217-854-2547 And on that attached list: Eggnog...
  17. I just want to preface that this is my personal story and BY NO MEANS recommendation for others: I was diagnosed with ADD at 8 years old. I was put on Concerta and took it religiously until the day I turned 18. I knew I did not have ADD, something else was wrong. I was diagnosed bipolar just over two years ago. I was going through horrible things...
  18. I emailed this to my mom for some tips on a gluten free Thanksgiving (this year is her year and she is taking it seriously - unlike my aunt who had turkey day last year). Open Original Shared Link It is pretty basic, but it is good info for those who don't know a lot about celiac disease.
  19. Ugh I know. I have had SO many doctors blame my maladies on "my cycle". Um... no. I used to have migraines for weeks at a time - with no pattern whatsoever. If it was related to my cycle, don't you think it would have a pattern?? Like maybe a 28 day pattern?! And my stomach problems were always negated to my "fiber intake". Yeah, right. So that...
  20. I will do this - find a doctor that is worth my deductible (hard to find, I know!) Also, this deep purple coloring strikes a chord with me - after these bumps "pop" the skin turns purplish and stays that way - for a long time. It is darker than a bruise and not as "uniform", if that makes sense. Very odd - but I have had these for as long as I can remember...
  21. Hormel Black Label and Jennie-O turkey bacon are gluten free. Not sure about Butterball in particular.
  22. I don't really think it is KP because it is my understanding that KP is follicular and when these "pop", there is no coiled hair (kinda gross, I know). And they are not pimples. I halfway suspect they are DH because, well, that would make sense. But every photo I have seen of DH shows the lesions as HUGE, and the ones I have are not. They are very...
  23. I have had small, raised red bumps on my arms, chest, and shoulders/neck since... well, since forever. I have changed detergent (I've used baby detergent, sensitive, everything!). So not that. My mom and sister have them, too (although celiac is on my dad's side). Anyway, they are not very big, but bright red with a white middle. They itch, but not...
  24. They have never bothered me gluten-wise, BUT they caused a little cut on my gums that hurt so bad
  25. I second the brown rice. I actually can't find the white rice kind - the stores around me only have the brown. But it is so good - I can't go back to the other gluten-free pastas!
