Wendy's fries are gluten free IF cooked in a dedicated fryer. All three Wendy's in my area use dedicated fryers thank goodness. As for McDonald's I have just gotten brave enough to try them. So far I've had them twice with no reaction. I usually react pretty quickly.

ARCHIVED The Most Annoying Thing About Celiac Is...
lynnelise replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Constant planning. Not wanting to cook but being bored to death of the 3 places I can safely eat. How my in-laws put ritz crackers in EVERYTHING and then act like they "forgot" I couldn't eat this or that. -
ARCHIVED Multiple Questions
lynnelise replied to Deacon's Garden's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can address a few of your issues. The Udi's bread and the egg: you would still be healing so that could explain the reaction. I would try eating whole, natural, fresh foods for a few weeks. It's very likely you don't have any other food intolerances. Early on in the diet you can have good days and bad. As for the EGD: eat gluten until the day of... -

Honestly I always shove a Larabar in my pocket. They usually go through my bag and make me step through a metal detector but they've never asked me to remove anything but metal from my pockets. -
ARCHIVED Does Popcorn Bother Anyone Else?
lynnelise replied to Omma's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get terrible pains where my gallbladder used to be each time I eat popcorn. I don't think it's gluten related as that is not one of my usual symptoms. Perhaps it's just hard to digest. Also if you have diverticulitis the hulls can cause a flare. -
ARCHIVED Got Any Funnys From Friends/family Trying To Understand?
lynnelise replied to Chad Sines's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is a lady at work who alerts me anytime she sees something that says gluten free on the box. It's funny because most of the time it's something that is naturally gluten free but she is so excited to be helping me that I don't have the heart to tell her! When I first went gluten free my friend hosted a Christmas party and double checked all ingredients... -

Sorry to hear of your diagnoses! I'm glad you were able to find a doctor who took you seriously!!! Good luck at the doctors! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have Issues With Iced Tea?
lynnelise replied to jmrogers31's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't think gluten is a factor but I really dislike Gold Peak tea. It tastes too artificial. I'd say it's an additive you are having issues with. Are you ok drinking fresh brewed tea? -

I keep swollen glands. Definitely see your doctor. They can look at them with CT scan and see if they look suspicious and if so biopsy them. I just had a biospy last month and everything came back ok, no sign of cancer. The doctor said it was caused by CFS/chronic mono. He is going to continue to monitor to make sure nothing else suspicious pops up.

I agree with this! I mean provided the person doesn't order off the gluten free menu and then order a gluteny dessert or a beer with it I think it's fine. As for the grocery store, the more buyers the more likely they are to stock the product. I live in a fairly rural area and the selection of products at my local store has exploded! Just 2 years...

ARCHIVED If I Cheat On My Gluten Free Diet, Could I Be More Likely To Get Type 1 Diabetes?
lynnelise replied to alicewa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good luck! Hope you have a great wedding and honeymoon. I'm unsure from what you've written as to whether you have eaten gluten within the past few weeks and had little reaction or whether you've been 100% gluten free since diagnoses and are judging your gluten reaction on what you felt before going gluten free. If so I'm going to have to add to the... -
ARCHIVED Making Fun Of Gluten Issues On New Cbs Show
lynnelise replied to Kate79's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The point is not so much that the joke was offensive, the point is that the joke makes people watching the show, some of who work in restaurants and prepare food think that this isn't a real medical issue. I don't care if a particular show offends me but if I go out to eat and someone disregards my gluten free order because they think I'm just being picky... -
ARCHIVED Struggling To Cope With Boyfriend's Mother
lynnelise replied to nikky's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No offense but it sounds like this lady really does not like you and this is her passive-aggressive attempt to get rid of you. I would no go to the woman's house. It's dangerous and you are clearly not welcome. I wouldn't want to be where I wasn't welcome. Hopefully your boyfriend can come up with a solution to see you outside of his mom's home... -
Ok...I see in another post that you work at Taco Bell. I will say it's very possible that you could become glutened through the course of your general work day by touching gluteny foods or touching items that people who have touched those foods have touched and then touching your mouth. Nothing in the ingredients seems to contain gluten so I'd say CC is the...

ARCHIVED Please Help! New Celiac In Need Of Advice
lynnelise replied to MandaSue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sometimes when you are still healing you'll just have a bad day here or there and it's not necessarily caused by gluten. I've read other threads saying newly gluten free people could have cross reactions to coffee. At least one testing company (Cyrex) claims so. -
I've never had an issue with white vinegar. I actually think Great Value stopped labeling things gluten free as kind of a CYA thing. White vinegar is almost always derived from corn. As an aside most (but not all) celiacs can tolerate distilled grains.

ARCHIVED Finally Getting Some Different Test
lynnelise replied to sandiz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The rash doesn't seem to vary with gluten exposure. It pops up every time I venture outdoors. I feel like a vampire! lol! I've been gluten free 2 years and while a lot of symptoms have improved some have not. The worst being fatigue, especially after exercise. A lot of days I wake up and feel like I'm getting the flu. Body aches and exhaustion. I... -
I have terrible TMJ. It's related to inflammation and gluten causes an increase in inflammation so the diet does help a lot! When I get glutened I will always get a TMJ flare.

ARCHIVED Finally Getting Some Different Test
lynnelise replied to sandiz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My normal temp is around 94. Even when I'm very sick the highest my temperature gets is 99. I think normal body temp is a fever for me! I also get terrible rashes in the sun and keep a mild pink rash across my cheeks. I can see the no news is good news theory but after being sick constantly for 3 years I just fear my job will be at risk. With... -
ARCHIVED Making Fun Of Gluten Issues On New Cbs Show
lynnelise replied to Kate79's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I started to post about this yesterday but didn't have time! It made me mad too! I was liking the show and I understand the character is supposed to be abrasive and offensive but it's not cool to make fun of a medical condition! Two medical conditions in this case! As if we don't have enough trouble being taken seriously while dining out! -
I'm going to be in the same boat this Friday. Nephew's party. Last year my sister in law did Subway sandwiches so I'd say that's what it will be again this year. I was told to just throw the bread away. lol! Thank goodness I had a Larabar!

ARCHIVED Finally Getting Some Different Test
lynnelise replied to sandiz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have many lupus symptoms. In fact every new doctor I see and tell my issues to asks if I've been checked for lupus. I have many times and my blood work is always fine. The rhuematologists says she is 95% sure it cannot be lupus. Sadly no one seem to know what it can be and I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired to say the least! For now it seems...
