  1. Welcome to the forum kington! Is she getting the blood tests or the biopsy or both? If the results are negative, it is advised that gluten-free be tried for several months after all of the testing is done.
  2. Hi linzenilss22. First, if you don't already, I would make sure you get copies of your testing so you can see for yourself what the levels were. What celiac tests did you have done? I am asking because some Dr.s don't run all of the ones needed. The tests do not need to be positive for you to try gluten-free. I would also take dairy out for a while.
  3. Gluten and casein both are known to have an 'opiate' effect on the brain. That is why many have had sucess treating ADHD and autism spectrum disorders with a gluten-free/Casein Free diet.
  4. Hi Teri Lou. DH stands for Dermatitis Herpetiformis. /celiac-disease/celiac-disease-amp-related-diseases-and-disorders/dermatitis-herpetiformis-skin-condition-associated-with-celiac-disease/
  5. Just a thought- Ore Ida has soy as an ingredient in their products. It could be you are reacting to that.
  6. There is a member on here, kenlove, that I believe lives in Hawaii.
  7. Hi gramma elaine. Here is a thread from not too long ago about grits
  8. Welcome to the forum. My son is nine and we all eat gluten-free. He likes Van's gluten-free waffles (i think they make non-gluten-free too so read the package). Udi's bread, glutino pretzels, freeze dried apples, enviro kids crispy rice bars, chex cereals and Bisquick has a gluten-free version also that makes good pancakes.
  9. Not sure if anyone has seen this. It is talking about the TSH test. I hope it is ok to post this.
  10. My stepfather may not have known, for a while, about his high blood pressure. He went to the eye Dr. and they checked his BP and it was high. He told him he needed to get to the hospital but would not let him just leave until my mom came to get him. I don't think my biological father even has a Dr. So yes, I agree that a lot of men just ignore symptoms and...
  11. I like to use it. I get the unsweetened, unflavored so I can use it for mashed potatoes and the like. I also like it with cereal too.
  12. Nice. I guess they do not have any idea or care 'what' is in the foods they eat. So sad.
  13. For my potato soup I have always cooked my potatoes and either take some out and mash them up or add some more potatoes into the pot after the others have cooked down a bit. I have never added any flour to my soup. The flakes will probably work well too. I have made a crisp type thing with peaches using the gluten-free bisquick, last time I added pamala...
  14. Does Microscopic Colitis heal or go away? I am asking because my G-mom says she had this years ago and said it was awful.
  15. I have some leftover taco meat in the freezer I need to use, how do you make this?
  16. Hi, welcome to the forum Betsy. With all of his symptoms it sounds like you need to take him in for celiac testing. Be aware that with young children the false negative rates can be higher. Also, while they are drawing blood for the celiac tests, I would go ahead and see if he is deficient in any of his vitamin and mineral levels too. Those can help with...
  17. Welcome to the forum MsCurious. Did they do any other tests besides those? Celiac tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA and IgG Total IgA level Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) Antibodies, IgA & IgG (this is a newer test) IBS is really...
  18. Welcome to the forum Nancymae. I think it is a very good idea to go and get tested for celiac. Your symptoms sound like many here have had to deal with. Celiac tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA and IgG Total IgA level Deamidated Gliadin...
  19. Hi Leiana. First of all, don't give up. Did the Dr. find evidence of celiac before? Are you sure that all your meds are gluten-free? Is your house gluten-free? Have you had extensive thyroid testing? Open Original Shared Link Have you had these tests done? I do not know anything about thyroid issues but my aunt went through a rough time and ended...
  20. I would contact this group Open Original Shared Link and see if they can help you.
  21. Welcome to the forum hashslingingslasher. Are you a spongebob fan? Have you taken dairy out of you diet yet? If not you might want to do that for a few months. Do you have you own new cookware, pasta strainer, toaster, etc. If you do not you need to. You can get cross contaimination (CC) from scratched cookware, wooden cutting boards and crumbs in the...
  22. Welcome to the forum msmom. The endoscopy is not a bad idea, just make sure you ask the Dr. how many biopsies he/she is planning on taking. I believe six is the norm. Celiac tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA and IgG Total IgA level Deamidated...
  23. You might want to check the chips at your local Melting Pot. I don't think they are safe. Open Original Shared Link
  24. Most soy sauce is made with wheat. There is gluten-free soy sauce. LaChoy is and San-J makes a gluten-free variety also (they also make regular so check the label). I get the San-J at my local Whole Foods store. Bob's Red Mill has many gluten-free flours at most grocery stores in the health foods sections. Gluten Free Pantry also has some flour and baking...
  25. Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you could have celiac or a gluten intolerance. Have you had any testing for celiac? If you are planning to, make sure you are eating plenty of gluten filled foods so you can get the best possible results. If you don't feel you could eat that much you can always just start gluten-free and see if your symptoms start to...
