  1. It is very possible for you to have delayed reactions or you may also have other intolerances. My 20 yr old daughter tested negative on her celiac blood test but decided to ty gluten-free to see if it would help her. It has, she has 'tested' herself two times so far and she gets reactions anywhere from 2-4 days later. You are a celiac diagnosed by blood...

  3. Welcome to the forum! I have not heard that about paper. Does your son get his levels tested regularly to make sure they are going down? I believe this is how Dr.s check to see if you are compliant with the gluten-free diet. This might be a good way to monitor him. Something to consider, is he eating a lot of processed gluten-free foods? It might be a...
  4. Hi stavreski. IgE is for allergy testing. It is possible to have allergic reactions in your stomach and intestines. It is not a bad idea to get tested for celiac also. You can have both. With your endoscopy did they take any biopsies? If you don't already have a copy of your test results you should get them so you can see the results for yourself. Celiac...
  5. Mainstream oats have a higher rate of cross-contaimination with gluten containing grains. They can be grown in the same fields, stored in the same silos and processed on the same equipment. Some people can not tolerate even gluten-free oats because they cause the same type of gluten reaction.
  6. I have read that people have described gluten CC to others to be like 'rat poison' or 'broken glass' and ask if they would eat something with either of those in their food.
  7. Hi Sick_Mommy. I had aches and pains, weakness and constipation among many other symptoms. My son and I tested negative but chose to try gluten-free and it has helped us both. Have you had any testing done, celiac or other? I believe those could all be symptoms. You should get your thyroid checked and vitamin and mineral levels to see if you are low in...
  8. Hi wildcatboy, welcome to the forum. Have you had any celiac testing? A good test, though a Dr. might not diagnose you based on this, would be for you to be strictly gluten-free for three months and then do a gluten challenge by eating a normal gluten filled diet for several days and see if you have any reactions. Taking milk products out in the begining...
  9. This was too funny to me to pass up Some one posted a recipe and I'm guessing hit the wrong keys "use a pastry brush to butter the sides then ass in the pancake batter."
  10. My next step, if you have not done it yet, would be to take dairy out for a while and see if that helps. It could also be that she is having gluten withdrawls or possibly eating something she should not at school. Give it some more time, it has only been three and a half weeks so far and people get better at different rates. Definitely have her take some...
  11. Hi Marc49. I live in GA and buy my son's Udi's bread at our local Publix. I find it in the freezer section with a few other gluten-free items. I usually have to ask if they have any in stock because the shelf is almost always empty and they always find some for me. I have found that Publix is a good company and will probably order it for you if you ask....
  12. Hi shpammy. It does not look like you had any testing for celiac. Some people have severe vitamin deficiencies and some people will have just low normal ranges. The three days you were eating gluten-free you could have been having gluten withdrawals. Celiac tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA...
  13. Hi. It has only been six weeks. I feel you need more time gluten-free before you think you are not GI. I was able to wean off my anti-depressants ( do this with a Dr.) by being gluten-free, taking fish oil (1000mg a day), B-complex with C, vit D 3000-5000iu a day and a multi. It took a few months for the anxiety and depression to lift, but it did. About...
  14. They are made from corn. I am going to be a smarty pants and say 'with a spoon' People eat them in many different ways, mostly with butter, salt and pepper. They are sold in the US by the hot breakfast cereals. Open Original Shared Link
  15. This is something that used to happen to me a lot. In my teen years it would happen in church during prayer, or on a date at the movies and at school too. Very embarrassing with awful anxiety and perspiration to go with it.
  16. Grits or polenta and I have also found cream of rice.
  17. Welcome to the forum Alixx. Constipation is a symptom for many people. It surely was for my son and I. We were negative for celiac, so we just call it gluten intolerance. If you search 'celiac disease and constipation' you will find many things to read. Also weight loss is a classic symptom, but many people are overweight when they are diagnosed. It would...
  18. There is no other way. She will need to have the blood test for celiac. This is a good time to do it because she is on a gluten filled diet. I believe it is recommended to have them done once a year. It is better to catch it early. Most children are not too afraid of getting blood drawn. I am more afraid than my son.
  19. Hi salexander421. Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) Antibodies, IgA & IgG
  20. Are you eating dairy? If you are, I would stop that for a while and see if it helps.
  21. Hi norahsmommy. My son had severe constipation as well. The Dr. finally sent him in for an x-ray and that is how we found out. He took miralax daily for at least three months untill we finally saw good results. At one point we cut the full dose to 3/4 and then had to 1/2 the dose and then to 1/4 of the dose because he was having leakage while he was at school...
  22. A quote from lynnelise that speaks volumes to me: "I think one reason that people like to think that stuff like this only exists in our mind because to admit that it's real would be admitting it could happen to them." It irritated me. My son and I are not 'offically diagnosed' but we know we can't eat it. This may be this guys hobby. Maybe he likes...
  23. Welcome DJ Jess! It is so good to hear you have been able to get better. Many others here have had similar stories to yours, so you are not alone. Please stick around, ask questions, give opinions and read as much as you can. This is such a wonderful place for support.
  24. Welcome HopefulMama23! Celiac disease is hereditary. So it is very possible you, your children and other family members have it. The blood tests are only about 80% accurate. So you could have had a false negative. Be aware that if you go gluten free and then want additional testing for celiac, you will need to go back to eating a gluten full diet for several...
  25. I would just tell that you don't have the money to come and could he possibly tell you on the phone and/or send you a copy of the results. My sons Dr. likes to discuss as much as he can over the phone, he says it is to save us time and money.
