    ARCHIVED Poll Time:

Going to a restaurant and ordering a burger and beer...... I miss beer.
  2. I feel your pain, since coming back from camping I think that I glutened myself. Not being extra careful with my toaster. Anyway I was at work(a seniors living facility) and was feeling bloated when one of the ladies said to her friend "she has gained weight since going on holidays". OMG, I felt like crying but had to keep on going with my work and remember...
  3. This is what I found online, I had to follow some links but came to a question answer part. Is "Modified food starch" gluten free. When a food label reads "modified food starch", they are telling you that there is some kind of starch in the product. It could be wheat starch, corn starch, tapioca starch, rice starch, etc. What you should do if you see...

    ARCHIVED Iodine?

Some people react to regular salt and sugar. Try sea salt and raw sugar. If you have only been off gluten for a week, give it a chance. I noticed that my headaches went away after 3 days of completely gluten free. I suffered from headaches for 30 yrs, I always had them would wake up with them, work with them, go to bed with them. Good luck.

    ARCHIVED Discouraged

Sometimes it takes a little bit to get your diet under control. You may have been glutened and not even know it. Check your labels and cook fresh is the best advise I can give you.
  7. I just thought that I would share of my week camping trip with my husband who isn't gluten-free. Tent camping but with electricity so I took my little roaster oven. First night I had fresh natchos, a few days later it wasn't nice out so I decided to have mac and cheese - quino noodles with cornflakes and cheese with bacon - OH YUM!!! The day before we left...
  8. being a caterer my self, we meet with the couple and come up with a menu. this is totally up to you and any caterer will work with u on it. there are mixes out there for gluten-free breads if ur parents really want bread. as for ur friend, thanks for the support- gluten-free is not boring or drab! what do u like? that is the key. and remember it is ur day...

  16. www.theceliacscene.com I have found that lots of places are very good about food allergies. And there are lots of grocery stores that carry gluten-free products. I know the spaghetti factory in Victoria has gluten-free menu. The sticky wicket also has awesome food, just have to ask them not to use wheat products. Good luck and have fun.
  17. I get frustrated when we can't except the fact that we all react different. For years I had to change deodorant, laundry soap, shampoo, fabric softener. I would get itchy and break out in hives. Baking soda baths were my best friend for my teenage years. My journey began in January and continues. I wish we could all just read and be thankful for the support...
  18. I find that when I am glutened homemade veg soup. What ever veg I have I boil up and strain off and then cut up carrot, onion, celery, beets. The first spoonful my stomach seems to relax like my body knows that the food isn't poison. Good luck, I find this journey has been a lot of trial and error.
  19. I have a couple of ones that make the eyes roll every time. My co workers and hubby's co workers, "that must be awful, I couldn't live without bread." or "must be hard to find something to eat" Family members, "once you are better you can eat bread again right?" Gets tiring telling people what I eat. Rice, potato, veg, steak, prawns, chicken etc...
  20. How old are you? and if your mom is gluten intolerant to why is she still buying this crap??!! Yes it is hard at times but I don't want to feel like crap anymore. Sorry to say this but if you do it to yourself then you deserve to feel like crap. As the saying goes, either piss or get off the pot.
  21. Seems some people are in denial and very ignorant of there bodies. As a female I listen to my body and try to figure out what I did to it and try not to do that again. It is frustrating but we can only do so much.

  24. I have been gluten-free for 8 months. The first month I had so much energy, it was scary. I have had some episodes(usually from work) that seem to last 2-3 weeks to get back to "normal" I break out in what looks like boils, lower tummy very tender and bloated, constipated, diarrhea, brain fog, sleeplessness. Lately my sleep has been on a 2 hr cycle it is...
