  1. I've had celiac my whole life but only got diagnosed at 40, and it hasn't always presented in GI symptoms. One of the worst symptoms has been chronic infections, mostly bronchial and sinus infections. I had to give up my dreams of being a professional dancer and doing theater because of my health issues. I became a teacher, but I didn't even pursue being...
  2. Know what I say? Dump the dog honey. I wasted 3 years of my life with an uncaring man. This was way before being diagnosed. One time my C got so bad I literally could not stand up straight. I needed to go to the ER late at night and he refused to take me. I had to hobble to the car and drive hunched over!! Of course they still did not diagnose me, the moron...
  3. For the allergic reaction, definitely take meds, especially for wheezing- dangerous. For the stomache stuff, I just drink water, eat clean and let it pass, but I'm also new to the diet and healing. If your gut is inflamed I think it just needs to rest. Some people take an amino acid L glutamine but I haven't tried it yet.
  4. Italian princess here. I feel your pain! Yes we can get gluten free pizza, but it's not the same. It will never be the same. Waaahhhhhhh
  5. Considering that only 1 in 5000 people are diagnosed with celiac, I've only met one other celiac in my life living in metropolitan So Cal so no small towns here, most doctors have never had a celiac patient or maybe one in 30 years of practice (according to my own doc, friends and relatives who are docs) ummmm... good luck finding one first of all, and then...
  6. Yeah I know. It's a lot about the experience too. It's that particular bakery, at the beach, etc. KWIM? You see couples all the time sitting on the little bench sharing a cinnamon roll on a cold night type of thing. It's romantic and sweet and fun.
  7. Bowel inflammation and contractions cause uterine contractions. It may be as simple as that. The reason they use castor oil to induce labor is because of that phenomenon. Whatever it is, gluten is not going to help your pregnancy or fertility if you have celiac or intolerance. I got diagnosed by blood test only. I would never torture myself and make myself...
  8. We live by a cute little beachtown with a Main street that has all those adorable shops, etc. So of course there is an amazing little family owned bakery. I haven't been in there since I got diagnosed, and today my kids wanted cookies. The smell in there is DIVINE. They have the best cupcakes and cinnamon rolls ever ever ever. I haven't felt deprived...
  9. Also one of the best things about natural thyroid is that you can dissolve it under your tongue. It goes straight into your bloodstream that way and you don't have to worry about an empty stomache. Most of us take it that way. You'll see if you visit that website and join the yahoo group. They can guide you.
  10. Natural thyroid was LIFE ALTERING for me. I would never ever let synthroid pass my lips again. The trouble is, doctors just like with celiac are total morons when it comes to thyroid issues and prescribing natural thyroid. So you have to find a doc who will give it to you. I take Westhroid. Armour has reformulated and there are lots of people not...
  11. That sucks! But still you handled it really well. I know it's tough in your job especially because so much revolves around eating and meals out. Hang in there! When is the Florida trip? Or are you there now?
  12. With the high powered colonics you can also die from edema because you large intestine absorbs water. People have absorbed too much water and made their hearts and brains swell and died. Don't do it. The gluten free diet IS your detox diet and be prepared because you might go through withdrawals. Most of us do and for me it was pretty bad for nearly ...
  13. You know, this is so frustrating because it also could be CC from my gluten kids. UGH
  14. It was a valentine heart. Yeah it might just also be too soon with the processed stuff. I had some other sausage from Costco that has no nitrites or icky additives and I was fine. I think it's Amy's. It's gluten free.
  15. Performing is such a loaded word in this instance. You are cracking me up!
  16. I made Hillshire Farm Turkey Kielbasa last night. I read on here that it was gluten free but this morning checked again and the posts were from 2006. DOH! I also ate some Hershey's chocolate but there are no gluten ingredients listed. CC? Oh and I had Trader Joe's brown rice pasta for the first time. CC? The sausage does have "natural flavors" in...
  17. Way to handle it Jason!!! I know that panicky feeling. I think we all do. So glad you were able to make lemonade out of those lemons. I don't think it's a fiasco at all. I think you triumphed! Maybe the guys at work are just doing that guy thing where they give each other crap about stuff. Is it possible it's their stupid dude way of "communicating...
  18. I was undiagnosed when I had my kids who are now 2 and 5 years old. I had bleeding and contractions the whole pregnancy with my son. I didn't miscarry, but I had preterm labor and all sorts of sickness and unbearable pain. He was a month early and almost died in childbirth, ending with a dramatic emergency C section and me being put completely under to get...
  19. Yep. Jail doesn't do much to accomodate your diet. They could care less and would actually use it as a bargaining chip against you. Both of my brothers are sheriffs and have worked in the prisons. It's bad in there.
  20. I'm on week 6 of the diet and this past week I'm finally feeling pretty good after being very sick and having awful withdrawals. The past few days I have been so hyper! I feel like I'm buzzing and I don't want to sit still. I can't figure out if it's a physical symptom or it's just that I've been lethargic for so long I don't know how to manage normal...
  21. I have gluten covered little kids too. I have a separate counter for prepping their gluten foods. I clean up crumbs as quickly as I can and I wash my hands alot. My son will eat a cookie or PB and J while on one of my computers, so I wash my hands after using the computer. I haven't gotten glutened from any of their crumbs. Just do careful crumb management...
  22. I haven't read the article, but that makes more sense. That gluten would have a negative effect on the brain like LSD does. I've sat with someone on a bad trip wanting to tear her hair out. I've seen people have some nasty flashbacks at inopportune times. Not pretty. Nothing will ever convince me that there is anything good about the use of LSD. But...
  23. ONE person's experience has absolutely nothing to do with the effectiveness of a treatment. Have you personally had this particular treatment with tetracycline? Even if you had, nothing is 100% so of course there would be some people who had no response or even had negative effects. That doesn't mean that the treatment is completely without merit. Without...
  24. Your synopsis sounds like the article was saying that LSD causes the symptoms?
