  1. I wanted to add that if allergy tests come up negative, but a food makes you sick they will generally consider it an intolerance.
  2. Were these food intolerance tests or allergy tests? Allergy is a histamine response, and intolerance means you are not digesting it properly, most likely because your body isn't producing enough enzymes for that food. If you are mildly allergic, then yes you can heal that allergy with a rotation diet. It's the same concept as allergy shots. Tiny exposure...
  3. We went for a field trip to Medieval Times with our homeschool group today. They assured me that they could accomodate my gluten free meal but I was so stressed. I was dizzy on the way there because I was anxious about it and fighting a panic attack. I was asking the manager a lot of questions to be sure and he was so reassuring. He said they were all trained...
  4. I think it's like 10% of celiacs that react to oats. The tricky thing with oats is that they are often rotated in fields with wheat, so wheat can volunteer itself and get harvested in with the oats. They are also processed often with wheat and rotated in the machinery so CC can happen easily. Personally I'm steering clear of oats until I'm fully recovered...
  5. A cold is going to make you feel all those things. It could also be the flu which would include D and even vomiting at times. I wouldn't make any big changes right now and give the cold some time to go away. It can take a couple of weeks so hang in there.
  6. I had cut dairy but wasn't worrying about casein until today when I ate butter and felt awful. So that's out too for awhile. I hate celiac disease. I really really hate it. It's hard to know how long you've had it too, because some people get non GI stuff like headaches or allergies, or whatever. It's seriously the stupidest disease ever.
  7. Oh Jason that's great!!!! I was wondering if you had gone yet. So glad it worked out fine. I have had that experience where my meal was not that great after they took all the seasonings off and whatnot. We are going to Medieval Times tomorrow and they say they have gluten free options where they grill your meat separately. I hope I'm not taking my life...
  8. The trouble with shampoo and conditioner is that it can run down your face and get in your mouth. If you really don't want to change (and believe me I understand. I sobbed like a baby over Redken all being full of wheat) then you need to make sure that you keep your head back when you wash your hair and then if you leave the conditioner in for a few minutes...
  9. Sadly I've had symptoms my entire life and just got diagnosed at 40. It has waxed and waned and been awful at times and seemed to be gone at other times. I've been diagnosed with IBS, allergies, lactose intolerance, wheat intolerance (but never went as far as eliminating all gluten and was told to go ahead and eat wheat in moderation) so my healing is not...
  10. It's good to hear!

ARCHIVED Gi Heals In 7-10 Days?

Isn't there just one GI doc that has a clue? Just one? It's so disheartening to hear that this so called doctor is telling people garbage like this, because if you have been sick for any length of time it can take months or even a year or two to heal. So patients will be panick stricken when they still feel like garbage 2 weeks later. then there is...
  12. Yep celiac disease causes hives. I found that out because somebody else posted about hives on here and I said that hives are only caused by allergies (in my ignorance) and that they should get allergy tested. Then I started researching out of curiosity and found that autoimmune disorders, especially celiac, can cause hives quite frequently. Accidental...
  13. Coffee, tea and soda all dehydrate you and throw your electrolytes off. You are supposed to drink something like 2 glasses of water for every one glass of coffee, tea or soda that you drink. I drink tea but cut coffee right now while my gut is healing. I drink a big glass of half water and half Gatorade in the morning before I have my tea to get a leg...
  14. It is your choice whether you want to eat gluten for a month to do a biopsy. I refused to do that. I am not going to make myself sick for a test that is so inaccurate that I have to cause myself damage in order to get it to read positive. Even after all that gluten damaging your villi, they may not get damaged sections and give you a false negative. They...
  15. AS hard as it is, you must stop cheating on the diet and be extra clean with your kitchen, beauty products, etc. It's not worth it. No food is worth suffering and you can make anything gluten free at home anyway. In addition to the antibodies attacking the brain, there is also a connection between the brain and intestines where inflammation in the intestines...
  16. I'm kind of in a mood today, so pardon me for being overly blunt. She's a moron. Either she doesn't have celiac disease, or she does have it and hasn't gotten that sensitive at this point. If she has celiac disease and knows that her gut is being damaged by the autoimmune response then she is a complete idiot for pretending like she can eat gluten. Symptoms...
  17. The only antibodies you are building up, from my understanding, are the ones against gluten which are harming you, so no I would not think that gluten would be helpful to your immune system at all. I have suffered horribly from respiratory infections, severe allergy symptoms even though my allergies are considered mild when tested, asthma, chronic sinus...
  18. Oh dear Lord, please don't throw around the words discrimination and harassment to bully people into doing what you want. That is why we have all this paranoia about liability and why we are going to LOSE support from companies and workplaces becuase if they do try to accomodate someone and don't do it right, people will scream discrimination to get their...
  19. You are probably dehydrated and low on electrolytes. A doctor I went to said that dehydration is a key issue for people with an autoimmune disorder. I have tried natural electrolyte drops and packets and they made me feel sick and dizzy so I'm just drinking Gatorade and lots of water. But you might try them and see if they help.
  20. Start a new thread with your list of foods you can eat so you don't have to scroll through 3 pages to read the replies.
  21. Dehydration is a huge problem for anyone with an autoimmune disorder. I was told that it is my number one challenge right now and that I have to think of myself as chronically dehydrated since I have 2 autoimmune disorders, thyroid and celiac. I have had to drink Gatorade daily in addition to a lot of water or I really feel sick, worse than I already feel...
  22. Your boss is amazing! Since you have a deep understanding of how bread is made I bet you will make amazing gluten free breads. You'll have to share with us as you discover new recipes!
  23. Actually gluten free dough doesn't need all that kneading and rising so it's easier to make it without a bread maker. A great easy baking book is Gluten Free Baking Classics by Annalise Roberts. You only have to make 2 flour blends and keep them in a container to use for whatever you want. If you want to wait on the sweet stuff you can just make her bread...
  24. It sounds like your son has it too. Your ex is a real idiot for saying those things. It sounds like you need a definitive diagnosis to make your ex comply. If your son is wheat free and low gluten it will skew the tests to a false negative. Get him back on gluten and get him to a pediatrician for testing. This is not alternative medical crap as you well...
