  1. Since you have been off for so long, you need to heal again. Eat clean and simple and avoid gluten free foods for awhile. Don't be surprised if you have withdrawals get sicker for a bit. Most of us do.
  2. I was told by my OB that I might have celiac and she sent me to a GI. He never tested me and gave me a long list of reasons why I didn't have it. I was so relieved! I mean who wants to have celiac and do that restrictive diet? Well... my health got worse and worse. I had two horrific pregnancies and my son barely made it out alive when he was born. ...
  3. First of all, I think until you finish the parasite medicine and get rid of those, your digestive healing will be a bit on hold. Those wreak havoc on your body and on top of celiac that's a lot to deal with. But... please know I'm saying this with kindness and caring, but I'm going to be a bit honest here. I think that you need to get out of this spiral...
  4. I can't even do Udi's bread right now. I haven't figured out what bothers me. I don't really eat bread, but I do make a simple one that has the consistency of corn bread. I use the Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free baking mix. It's the simplest baking mix I've found ingredient wise. I also make pancakes out of it and they are good. Most Bath and Body Works...
  5. Living Gluten Free for Dummmies. Funny, accurate and helpful. I bought another book- The First Year, Celiac Disease and Living Gluten Free. The info seems good so far, but my word that is the most poorly written book. It's dry, stale, boring, and not concise enough. I feel like I'm eating cardboard trying to read it. I can't force myself to read it anymore...
  6. I feel bad because I forgot to tell you I'm so sorry for your loss. You can't know if celiac or gluten caused it. Don't blame yourself. You are armed with some new knowledge now and that gives you options, which is a great thing. I have been processing a lot of emotion about how difficult my pregnancies were due to celiac. My OB was sure I had it before...
  7. Unbelievable. So your marriage was going well and then as soon as things got tough she left? What a rotten person. Shallow. She will never find happiness for any length of time then because there are seasons of life and sometimes things are hard. My husband and I have weathered some bad storms together. When our son was born, he almost died, was born...
  8. If you eat out, tell us where you normally eat and what. There is hidden gluten in wheat starch glaze on fast food chicken. Some beef will be marinated in stuff that has wheat. Meat can be marinated in beer. Soy sauce is a culprit.
  9. Most people can't handle gluten free substitute foods at first. Your gut is damaged by celiac and it takes a lot of energy to heal. The best thing to do is have a simple diet. Meats, veggies and fruits, rice, etc. Eat foods that have few ingredients. Give your body a chance to heal. Also dehydration and electrolyte imbalance is a HUGE issue for us. The...
  10. I think a documentary is a great idea.
  11. This is officially my favorite thread right now.
  12. Did you see my new thread? I challenged xanthan gum and it was fine. So now I have to challenge tapioca and see if it was that. It also could just be my damaged gut having trouble digesting stuff.
  13. Isn't it amazing how somebody can put on an act for a length of time? I've had that happen in 2 different relationships, where after 6 months when we started getting really serious, it was Jekyll and Hyde. I had a therapist tell me "Honey you could fall in love with Jack the Ripper by accident because when he wasn't killing people he was quite charismatic...
  14. I have to respectfully disagree with that. Some people don't feel a difference for awhile and some of us get sicker before we get better. Depends on how sick you were and how long you've been undiagnosed. I've had celiac my whole life and was misdiagnosed until recently at age 40. I felt a difference in anxiety and shortness of breath, but everything else...
  15. Don't feel bad. If you had a deathly allergy and had gone into anaphylaxis they would be getting a call from a lawyer. They can't mess around with stuff like that. Good for you!
  16. I am a big chiropractic fan. A good chiro can really help with sciatic troubles, even if you have had an accident or damage. There is a stretch you can do for the sciatic nerve. Let me try to describe it. You lay flat on your stomache and bend your knee up at a 90 degree angle so your foot is in the air. If you have someone help you it works better. The...
  17. I thought I was reacting to xanthan gum so I took it out of my diet weeks and weeks ago. I took out all gluten free substitute foods. I challenged it last night in a bread I made and ate it again this morning with no reaction. I'm so happy! So either I was reacting to another food, or it was just my healing withdrawal gut couldn't handle it. I also...
  18. Exactly. They're all being misdiagnosed. Maybe you need to start looking for guys with IBS because eventually they'll end up being diagnosed as celiac most likely.
  19. Not at all. The results were dramatic within a couple of days.
  20. Ummm... I think you've gotten a lot of input, and appreciation is always nice when people take lots of time to post to your threads.
  21. I would talk to the bride or groom, whichever one you know, and offer to speak to the venue yourself so they don't have an added job to do and so you can make sure the place understands what you need. Weddings can be long affairs and it might be hard not to eat there.
  22. I didn't think about the charcoal. You need to have an epipen if wheezing is an allergy symptom for you.
