  1. I am a month overdue for my period right now. Had a false pregnancy test yesterday. With my other 2 pregnancies I came up positive before I missed my period with the early result test so I think that maybe I'm just adjusting. I've been gluten free for about 2 months now.
  2. I went through a really rough grieving process and still have some days where it's hard. The hope lies in getting better! Please use the search function on here and read about withdrawals. There are lengthy threads about it. With all the damage in your gut you most likely will go through them. Also, you may have to go on a very simple diet for awhile....
  3. I say for baking get the Kitchenaid. A food processor is going to overwork your flours. I think of the food processor more for grinding and chopping or making stuff into a paste. I just love my Kitchenaid. In the future I want to get the pasta attachment and try my hand at making my own gluten free pasta. In the far future, but it's a dream. I do love...
  4. It might just be too early to get a positive test. I would test again in a couple of days. Your cycle could be changing. Every few years I go late on my period and my cycle changes.
  5. I think I remember reading that one of them, either flours or xanthan gum, last longer than the others and some other chemical reaction reason not to mix them. She suggested you don't buy premade mixes that have the X gum in them already either. If I find it, I'll post the exact reasons why, but I do know I have the gist of it.
  6. I have only tried a couple of gluten free bread recipes, both of which you mix in a mixer and neither had bread machine instructions. They really didn't take much mixing and they only had to rise once. My bread machine is about 10 years old and does not have a gluten free setting. Do I need to use a special setting for it? Also do I need special gluten...
  7. The coughing was horrible for years. I'm nearing week 8 and still have GI stuff going on but the cough has almost gone away. I get it in the morning once in awhile. I coughed for years and years and they always said allergies and asthma. Nope it was celiac. For serveral years now coughs, sinus infections, allergy symptoms, asthma and bronchitis were my most...
  8. I am nearing week 8. I didn't start feeling good until about week 6. I did have relief of daily anxiety and shortness of breath but GI symptoms worsened for awhile. For 2 weeks everything I ate bothered me. I chalk it up to my gut healing and being oversensitive because that giant healing army is working way too hard to also have to focus on digesting complex...
  9. My neighbor and I were talking about this and she brought up an interesting point. If you marry another celiac and have kids, the likelihood of them being celiac is going to jump really high. I personally am glad my husband isn't celiac. I think in some ways it would be harder especially if we both got glutened at the same time from eating out for instance...
  10. Hi another OC girl here! I need to try these restaurants.
  11. I just spit my gluten free pasta out when I read that! That is HILARIOUS!!! :lol
  12. I find cooking really easy. Eating out is hard. I use rice pasta and other flours for thickening or whatever. I do make my own bread because I'm reacting to the tapioca in the gluten free breads right now. I sure hope that goes away!
  13. yes we do. I've done it which is why I think it's funny!
  14. The soy and thyroid thing is a bit controversial, but the major sources I've read say just have it in moderation. If it's in stuff I don't worry about it.
  15. So in the span of one meeting with a group and one email, you've liked her, freaked out about whether or not to date her because how can she possibly like you the way you are, and will probably end the "relationship" because she's boring anyway. Well good thing you worked it out.
  16. Mine doesn't either but a treat never hurts once in awhile. Some people are getting sick from them and some aren't. Hmmmmmm.

    ARCHIVED In And Out

I feel the safest eating at In N Out when I go out. The only gluten in the whole restaurant is the bun. The buns are grilled separately from the meats. They are always so helpful too, so I ask them to be sure my meat doesn't touch the bun in the bag with my family's burgers and they do it. They don't fry anything else but their fries which are made of just...
  18. It's so darn complicated and frustrating. You might want to search on here about withdrawals because many people will have a period of it where they still feel sick or even feel worse for a bit. I did and then it started getting much better after about week 5. Some of us have our digestive systems so messed up that they are pretty sensitive and need to be...
  19. Here's a different pdf for Wendy's and it does say that it is cooked in the same oil as allergens, but not that it contains wheat. Open Original Shared Link It's up to the individual and what risk you are willing to take. Just like Rice Dream having trace amounts of gluten due to the processing of it. Personally at this point, McD's says wheat as...
  20. There is no false positive on a biopsy. If he has tested positive then it's positive. Many people on here have family members who doubt their diagnosis of celiac and it makes it very hard for them to lead an already complicated lifestyle. I'm glad you came on here to ask, and that you want to support him as best you can. It's hard for you to cook for him...
  21. So the website states that they have wheat but others are saying it's processed out. I'm wondering how many people on here eat McDonald's fries and do not react to them? One more thing to make things complicated I guess.
  22. Wow. Yes please don't eat croutons. Wow.
  23. Here is the link for McDonald's website with their ingredients. Open Original Shared Link Here is the ingredient list with all warnings, which McDonald's themselves have bolded for you to read cut and pasted from their website. French Fries French Fries: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and...
  24. The gluten protein molecules are not going to pass into their bodies and muscle tissues intact so that you could get sick from it. If they are bothering you it's not because of gluten, it's an intolerance or allergy to them. And the other poster was right. Mad cow disease is NOT caused by grains. Like they said, cows were being fed sick things that cows...
  25. You said you had a bereavement. I am so sorry for whatever your loss is. Sadly, celiac can also be a bereavement because you lose so much when you get diagnosed. If you use the search function on this board at the top and put in "withdrawals" you can read about other people's experiences at length and you'll find out it's not uncommon to go up and down...
