  1. Did your OB tell you not to take anything? There are TONS of meds you can take while pregnant. My celiac was undiagnosed when I had my babies, so my allergies and asthma were way out of control. I also had and still have severe GERD so I took protonix while pregnant and nursing. (I'm still nursing my 2 year old) I took plenty of meds while pregnant all with...
  2. That truly is the goofiest, yet best pick up line I've ever heard. Great story! Good luck with the dinner. The fact that you are cooking at all is a huge plus! My husband is only capable of making macaroni and cheese, and I still married him. If he had made me a steak dinner I would have probably fainted. I don't even allow him near the grill during...
  3. My first 2 weeks I had horrible withdrawals on the diet and I was getting accidentally glutened by a few foods that I had no clue about like Wendy's chicken breast. Also wheat was in all my beauty products. I figured out what was poisoning me and I simplified my diet. So I'm at the end of week 3 and FINALLY getting some results. My GI symptoms are almost...
  4. Usually the wheat mash is a treat or used as a supplement and most people add water to it so it's not really flying around dry all over the place. You can see if it got on the ground near where you are grooming the horse and wash it away from the mats beforehand. I wouldn't let that stop her from riding.
  5. About the allergy testing, the best thing to do is get skin testing and blood. Testing for food allergies can be difficult sometimes and you can come up negative but still have symptoms. My mother in law is an allergist and she puts a lot of stock in elimination diets and food challenges. Some will say it's an intolerance if you come up negative on tests...
  6. Breathing and sinus problems have been my worst symptoms the last few years. I've had undiagnosed celiac all my life. In the past few years I've had so many sinus infections, even though my allergies are mild and the allergist did immune system testing and my immune system was really strong. She couldn't figure out why I was having constant sinus infections...
  7. The wallpaper paste thing cracked me up! There are many cultures in the world who don't have the high gluten diets that we have. And in the past our diets weren't as gluten heavy as they are now because there weren't as many additives in foods. If there weren't so many gluten based additives the diet would be so much easier!!!
  8. I wanted to add that if I were you I wouldn't tell family and friends you are self diagnosed. Tell them you have celiac disease. They don't need to know all the details.
  9. I'm trying to imagine a scenario where docs wouldn't treat you based on your gluten free diet and I can't think of one. If you get sick down the line, then that will be a new illness and they have to treat it. Celiac disease can cause other things in your digestive system, but those are still diseases in and of themselves. Most of the time the doctors don...
  10. I am so happy for you that you are doing this! I think it's way cool that you are into skydiving, wakeboarding AND in a Ren Faire group. Can't wait until it comes again this year. Still Irwindale right? Easy dinners can be a meat, a starch and a veggie. Get some Lawry's and Lemon Pepper and shake them on steaks or pork chops and they taste great. Tonight...
  11. It takes you SIX MONTHS to see a specialist??? That's just horrible. Here in the U.S. it takes a couple of weeks, maybe a month if it's a doc who is in high demand, but even then they will get you in if you are sick. My blood tests were abnormal and the doc wanted me to stay on gluten to get to a gastroenterologist and confirm with a biopsy. I said NO...
  12. Anxiety is a HUGE celiac symptom. In the past 6 months I started having constant anxiety attacks for no reason. I don't have a particularly stressful life, except my health problems so the doc thought it was due to my asthma flaring up all the time and trouble controlling my allergies. After 2 days gluten free the anxiety attacks were totally gone, and...
  13. Pei Wei has a gluten free menu. I haven't tried it but I did hear that it's good. This is a really casual place, but the El Burrito in Seal Beach across from the beach was so great with me in telling me what to eat and they use very little flour in anything, so CC isn't as big of an issue. I've eaten there a few times with no CC problems. For fast...
  14. I guess there is always a possibility of flour in the curry as a thickener, or coated on the steak and chicken in the Mexican food, but for the steak and chicken I don't think it's likely. The only thing about chicken is that if it's a previously cooked frozen type chicken it can be glazed with wheat starch. I ask them specificially if it's a raw chicken...
  15. Are you talking about Enterolab? Some people swear by it and others don't. I am not against it but I'm skeptical. If you use the search function on here you can look for many threads about Enterolab to get more info.
  16. And if you want a soda with real sugar cane you have to pay a fortune for it. Very sad.
  17. Can you tell us what you ordered those times? Maybe that will help to figure it out. Also was it at the same restaurant or different ones?
  18. Breakfast today is cantaloupe, an egg and hot rice cereal made only of rice. Lunch will be ham with lettuce wraps and some different fruits. And hopefully I last all day like this. Simple diets and I are not friends. I'm a foodie!
  19. I thought it might be tapioca, but the bread I made had none in it. I think I will try your suggestion later. I definitely need to explore this so I don't torture myself unnecessarily.
  20. I knew you would find out my bad behavior! I'm trying. I swear I am!!! I need a kick in the behind.
  21. That's good to know! Guar gum doesn't seem to bother me. I hope that this issue goes away as I heal.
  22. Seriously? You need to be THAT insulting and demeaning to somebody who asks a question? This post is BEYOND insulting and just totally uncalled for. This really makes me mad. Can you not read???? When did Bigdogz say that there was any DELIBERATE risk being taken?
  23. Bigdogz you don't have to justify anything to ANYONE. You are FINE. We are all learning. It makes me mad to no end that two posters had to come here and be so downright RUDE to you when you are asking for HELP. My God aren't we all suffering enough? Isn't it enough that we even need to be on this board without people jumping on someone who needs advice...
  24. I haven't had too many gluten free things because I'm trying to keep it simple, but the ones I've tried made me feel sick and my nose would get stuffy. I suspected xanthan gum, so I made my own pancakes out of sorghum, potato starch, brown rice flour with no xanthan gum. Sure enough the pancakes without xanthan gum were totally fine. Then I made some mix...
  25. Yes my appetite was excessive for quite awhile. When I went gluten free 3 weeks ago it got way worse and I was starving and eating all day long for 2 weeks. Now week 3 I've been very hungry, but eating about every 3 hours or so. When I get hungry, it comes on strong and I need to eat NOW. I don't leave the house without food because I know I'll get weak...
