  1. That totally makes sense based on what I ate that day and the fact that I ate some carbs when I got home and then some protein and felt better.
  2. Wow that's so great!! I'll have to write all these restaurants down as you post. In N Out is very accomodating. I called their corporate office and they were wonderful on the phone. We haven't eaten out that much yet. I wonder if the Yard House has any gluten free beer??? With all the ones they have on tap there has to be something right?
  3. I was looking for a sublingual B12 and one of them had 6000 iu in it. I was worried about that high of a dose so I asked the pharmacist about it. He said not that much of it gets absorbed, even sublingually, so the high dose ensures that you will get what you need. He said shots are the best for celiacs, but I haven't gotten that far with my doc yet.
  4. Vent away. Doctors are so often complete morons. I had a doc try to get me to take Prozac for my thyroid symptoms instead of trying another thyroid medicine or upping my dose!!! He was like a crack dealer. "Just try it. You'll feel great. Prozac makes you feel so good. You won't regret it if you try it." To this day I want to curse when I think of that idiot...
  5. I have to wonder if you were doing a diet by choice for weight loss, such as Atkins, would they be so difficult? Sometimes I think that it scares the heck out of people to face the fact that this disease is even possible. I think they want to pretend like it doesn't exist so that they can pretend that they can't get something like this. It's really illogical...
  6. I don't think I had any protein with breakfast yesterday. Can low blood sugar cause vomiting? I was very hungry when I finally ate. So far I've been grazing today and even though I have a bit of D and a little nausea, I'm far better than yesterday. No vomiting today. I'm also finding that I feel better if I spend some time in the sun, which makes me...
  7. My husband and I were going through my day yesterday trying to pinpoint things. The vomiting came on suddenly and then just went away for the rest of the day. My husband kept saying it sounds like food poisoning. I was wondering about the chicken I made to take with me. I cooked it in the morning and while it was hot I wrapped it in foil and stuck it...
  8. Every doctor who says there is no treatment for celiac should lose their license. That is appalling and every time I read on here that a doc said that I want to scream. There is a treatment. Gluten free diet. Just like the treatment for peanut allergy is no peanuts, or dairy allergy is no dairy. He should not be practicing medicine.
  9. That's funny that your mom cares, because as the baby's mother I would be annoyed if you DID kiss my baby on the mouth. Nobody kisses my kids on the mouth except me and my husband. Germs from other people I do not need. They get sick enough on their own. I would never kiss somebody else's baby, but especially not on the mouth. I don't kiss my own kids...
  10. Well it's not an allergy. It's an autoimmune disorder which is worse. With an allergy your body doesn't perceive the food as poison and destroy your own intestinal tract to avoid ingesting the perceived poison. I'm sorry they are being jerks to you. I can't imagine going through this without the support of friends and family. I hope that you have some...
  11. I haven't had my levels checked yet. The doc I went to who is really knowledgable about celiac didn't do any bloodwork. He was so awful to me and was in such a hurry I could barely ask him a question. So now I switched back to my old doc who is clueless but at least nice and knows about how to treat my thyroid. But she is referring me to a GI, which we...
  12. I have to keep remembering that it really hasn't been a month because my first 2 weeks were a bust. I keep thinking it's been a month and then I remember my accidental glutenings that first 2 weeks. I hate it that they put wheat in stuff they shouldn't. Why do they have to do that?????
  13. I had my fasting blood sugar recently and no diabetes thank God. I do worry about the Gatorade. I bought an electrolyte packet at Sprouts but it gave me really BAD D. I mean bad. I think it has too much vitamin C. I'm at the end of my period so not pregnant. It's funny I had that same thought today and then went "Oh yeah, not possible." I was craving...
  14. I resisted gluten free beauty products BIG time. I am a total product snob and I love buying products. I stock up when there are sales and I only use high quality salon brands so I have a cupboard full of expensive stuff. But... I kept feeling like I was getting glutened the first couple of weeks and I paid close attention to products. EVERY single thing...
  15. Bare Minerals is gluten free and I swear by it. I've used it for years and my skin actually improved because of it. I'm 40 and people say I look like I'm in my late 20's and I think that Bare Minerals is part of that, not all of it but part of it. Still if you are reacting to it, then something is bothering you and I would not use it.
  16. I wanted to add that I've cut soy, dairy and nightshades for now too because they were all bothering me. I guess it's unrealistic to think that after 40 years undiagnosed celiac I would just bounce back to normal, but I didn't think I would still be feeling this crappy at this point.
  17. I have coughed for years. The pulmonary doc said I have "cough asthma" The cough is way better after just a short time gluten free.
  18. This is about week 4 for me, however my first two weeks I got glutened several times out of ignorance about things like fast food chicken breast and some other foods that really ought to be gluten free. Also all my beauty products were glutening me so I replaced them (and cried my eyes out saying goodbye to my good friend Redken!! Been a Redken girl for many...
  19. Okay we need an update!
  20. It's so hard isn't it? Beware of chicken when you eat out. I was eating chicken at Wendy's and some other places the first couple of weeks and didn't know it had wheat starch on it.
  21. Good for you! Just be patient and you'll figure it all out. He's so little he won't care what he's eating.
  22. Well yes that's true, but I guess it depends on how rotten you feel. Even natural stuff has its risks, but if the risks are minute, then it can definitely be worth it. Not sure what speaking colloquially has to do with it.
  23. I use the NeilMed sinus rinse instead of a Neti Pot. I like it because you don't have to tilt your head to use it. It's a squeeze bottle with a tube that goes to the bottom so you get a full 8 oz of water to rinse with. It comes with saline packets premeasured too. They sell it at Costco but I've seen it at grocery stores and CVS too. I swear by the rinses...
  24. I would call the theater ahead of time. That way you don't have to deal with figuring it out on the spot when you are there with friends.
  25. I searched for Baja Fresh on here and found old posts so I wanted to share the new info I got today from their customer service department. They are working on building a list for their website of gluten free items as well as allergy info. All of their meats are gluten free except the breaded fish. Chicken not covered in wheat starch. Yay! Corn tortillas...
