ARCHIVED Craving Fish - Need Advice/help
kareng replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Bake it in foil? Open Original Shared Link Topping the cooked fish with some chopped room temp or slightly warm pineapple or fruit salsa is good if you don't like the taste of fish. -
ARCHIVED Pickled Onions
kareng replied to mbrookes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have no idea! Can you find some to check? Most pickled stuff isn't pickled with malt vinegar. It isn't usually used for pickling. -
ARCHIVED Help With Dutch Oven?
kareng replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Ok. I have seen those a few ( or more) years back. Lol. What Peter said about the sudden temperature change. They are glass. Glass isn't porous. They will clean up well And the price is right. They may heat up a bit faster than regular pans so I would start on lower stovetop temps. -
ARCHIVED So Mad That Drug Companies Do Not Put Allergies Down
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well.... We know there is no gluten in them! Not that putting gluten on a wound would give you a Celiac reaction...... Open Original Shared Link Looks like regular Neosporin wouldn't have any soy, either. Inactive Ingredients: Cocoa butter, cottonseed oil, olive oil, sodium pyruvate, vitamin E, white petrolatum - See more at: Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED Help With Dutch Oven?

I am not sure what you mean by a "glass" pot? They are glass baking dishes but they will break on the stovetop. -
ARCHIVED Help With Dutch Oven?

I would return it. Usually a good washing or 2 will take care of the coating or dirt. Certainly washing and cooking something should have fixed it. -
ARCHIVED So Mad That Drug Companies Do Not Put Allergies Down
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Did you eat the Neosporin? I am confused. Or are you saying it was the chili? Or do you get a topical reaction to something? You could have a contact allergy but that would be things like hives or itching. -

ARCHIVED Do You Risk Eating Meat That Says "shared Equipment"?
kareng replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
First - common sense would say that a company isn't sending plain chicken, if that is what we are talking about, down the breading machine. That would be an extra step/expense. Second, I do know something about meat packing/poultry processing. Its gross, but maybe you, the reader, could look into it if you have questions- there are videos you could watch... -
That still might be like the Chebe breadsticks - they are tapioca flour and cheese and whatever seasonings. You might not be able to use the cookie press as they are sticky but you could roll them out thin and cut?

ARCHIVED To Fry Or Not To Fry, That Is The Question ? Turkey, That Is.
kareng replied to GFinDC's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Just a word of advice - no matter how bad the weather is - don't fry a turkey just inside the doors of your walk out basement. Someone here did that and burned down a $2 million house. We like to get a smoked turkey from a local place. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Cutter: Digestive Aid?
kareng replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link Do supplements like GlutenEase (or Gluten Cutter, Digest Gluten Plus, Glutenase) offer protection against accidentally eating gluten? We put no validity in these supplements. In fact, they may offer a false sense of protection when they provide no protection at all. -
Are you talking about dough rolled up with cheese into a skinny stick and them baked? If so, I think Chebe breadstick or pizza or foccacia mix would work well. Its pretty sticky, so I roll it out on a piece of plastic wrap under it and one on top. Parchment doesn't work as well for me.

There's no medical/ scientific evidence that it works. But, if you think it made you feel better, great! -
ARCHIVED I Officialy Hate My Gluten Free Bakery
kareng replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yeah....GeeEff, you got problems! I got problems! We all got somethang! It is very hard to find a soy free cooking spray but there is one available to bakeries and restaurants. I don't remember the name. if they want to know, I could probably find out. It's more expensive. They could also hand grease pans and baking sheets ( takes a lot of time and mess... -
ARCHIVED Do You Risk Eating Meat That Says "shared Equipment"?
kareng replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
But plain chicken would not need to go through the breading machines. I think that may even have to be in a separate facility from the raw meat processing plant. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed Ncgs - Can't Stop Bingeing On Gluten!
kareng replied to ellelit's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You need to bring your food with you. By saying that you will not eat all day and then seeing and smelling the food, you are setting yourself up to fail. You will have to decide you want to take care of yourself. Maybe some counseling would help you figure out why you want to hurt yourself? -
ARCHIVED Go Picnics At Target
kareng replied to africanqueen99's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't use them much but they are handy for traveling. I will take a few in my suitcase and then in my pack for skiing or hiking. Times. like travelling, when you can't really make a sandwich or other food. Good for emergency running out the door times. I like a "snack" lunch - so these are fun for me. -
ARCHIVED Great A Cold, Just What I Need

ARCHIVED Do You Risk Eating Meat That Says "shared Equipment"?
kareng replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't understand this at all. How can raw meat be on"shared equipment"? There are laws about that. And realistically, what would they run on a chicken cutting and packaging machine besides chicken? They can't make crackers on it. Did they explain? -
Well.... Maybe this isn't a gluten issue? If you are eating at home and super careful.... Maybe it's something else? Maybe another food issue or maybe another health issue? I don't see how you could be sure it's gluten sneaking in especially since you are so careful.

ARCHIVED What Do You Eat For A Light Breakfast That Is Safe And Doesn't Give You Runs Of Any Kind?
kareng replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I bet what you are eating for breakfast isn't really the reason for the pooping. It just stimulates your system. Eating anything & being upright and moving starts your GI system moving. It takes hours for food to get from your mouth to the other end ( or a couple of days even). This is probably how your system works right now. You might try adding... -
