ARCHIVED When Did The D And C Get Better For You?
kareng replied to answerseeker's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It could take months. Not meant to be discouraging, just truthful. Its more than just healing. You made need to build up the good germs in your system. You are eating differently, so you may be getting more fiber or less fiber. As you heal, it can change. This week you may need extra fiber but 2 months from now you might not or vice a versa. Its... -
ARCHIVED Well I'm Officially A Mess
kareng replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah...lots of people with asthma vomit or get upset stomach/intestines when they have an attack. Anxiety can cause BOTH SOB and digestive issues. But I think this was said by various people over various threads to Renegade. The whole thing is getting stranger. -

Huh? What cyst? Obviously you weren't having SOB when you saw the doc. Abdominal muscles? Giving us misleading info about what you are eating? Can't take off to go to the doctor but you actually did? I'm so confused. -

But you are so sick....what else do you have to do? Really, from what you are saying, I'm not sure why they haven't sent you home from work. You couldn't possibly be able to do a job right now. -

Now it looks like he has eaten more than just a few peanuts. Its hard to get the real picture of what is going on here. Said he wasn't eating anything but tea, said he couldn't breathe at all... Not sure there is much any of us can do for you right now. Didn't you say you live in Canada? There might be a long wait but they don't charge for medical... -
Here is something I posted previously: I don't have separate dishes, plates, spoons, forks, etc. I do have separate pans because we wanted new ones anyway. We have separate colander for gluten pasta. A separate cutting board for gluten bread. A separate toaster. I have new gluten-free cooking utensils like stirring spoons. I have new "Tupperware" stuff...

ARCHIVED Been gluten-free For A Year Now But...
kareng replied to GFRae's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Throat tightening sounds more like an allergy and can get dangerous as you are exposed to the allergen. -

I think it was suggested that you try something that is easy to digest - like a baked sweet potato or regular potato. Stomach cramping, etc is very common when you haven't really eaten any food for many days, as you claim. Maybe try some gluten-free chicken or beef broth? Then cook some small shreds of carrot or sweet potato in the broth? Really small... -
Obviously, you would want to read the ingredients on a flavored or "vitamin" water. I haven't seen any of those with wheat or any type of gluten - but I guess one could turn up. Some random person's blog or assertion on a forum about something that doesn't make sense - likely isn't true. Please use some common sense! Most Celiacs live in the world...

ARCHIVED Colander Idea...
kareng replied to RaeDawnMarie721's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Can you fill each hole with the foil to cover the bits that are stuck in the little holes? I doubt it. Maybe you could just get a fold flat one that you could hide in your underwear drawer? Or can move? Living with people who don't care about your health has to be rough. Worse that the people who are supposed to love you don't. -
Great! Glad you are feeling good! At my house, its become the standard answer to " I have a headache" " a pain" etc to drink more water. But it often helps. Apple, orange or grape juice are good choices if you might be a bit dehydrated and they also have potassium.

ARCHIVED I Always Have A Hard Time..
kareng replied to w8in4dave's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I have found that if my Internet is slow that happens. I'm afraid this site isn't very forgiving of slower than warp speed Internet. -
And because some of us can turn any thread into " chat".
-
Oh! It was a joke.....maybe? But it wasn't clear that it was and so it may have led one poster to think there is wheat in water and be worried needlessly.

I think we all said something like that last week when he? She? Couldn't breathe and thought he wouldn't live thru the weekend. -
If that is true, I think you need to tell us the brand! I can't imagine plain water could have wheat added. Why? It wouldn't be clear any longer! It wouldn't taste clear and fresh like bottled water is supposed to taste. Please, everyone! Lets use a little common sense here!

My kids are the ones that want the cheese!
-
I don't know. I'm not tasting it. It seems to be Ok in the cooler so far.
-
Was just in the Osceola cheese factory store! Those people will put most anything in cheese and then smoke it! We got a cheese with blueberries in it, a smoked Swiss, a ghost pepper cheese and something else got snuck in there I didn't see. Ghost pepper is supposed to be the hottest pepper around.

Why did a doc test you for Celiac? What symptoms or other illness caused you to be tested? -
ARCHIVED Well I'm Officially A Mess
kareng replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think many of us have suggested, in your other topics, that gluten may not be the culprit or the only one. I believe you said you were going to consult a doctor? Especially about the shortness of breath - as previously you weren't sure you would live much longer because of it. -
ARCHIVED Otc Relief From Gluten Symptoms
kareng replied to L8discovery's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I see you changed this. The original didn't mention " accidentally". What reliable literature do you have that these " digest " gluten? More importantly to Celiacs - where is the medical info that says that " digesting " gluten is our issue? Or that digesting gluten will stop the antibodies from being formed? Gluten is digested in the small intestine... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Results
kareng replied to mojabimami's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It looks like one test result. And the other stuff looks like a list. Maybe a wish list? Being sarcastic....but get back with them and insist on a copy of ALL tests done with the results and reference ranges. There are no positive results in that list. -
ARCHIVED Hard Disk Crash Last Night
kareng replied to Scott Adams's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Whoa! I said I was taking a few days of for a little vacation in the Ozarks! I'm sorry, Server, you can't come, too! It's just my family..... Some people are having trouble signing in/pulling up the c. Com site. This happened the last time. It had something to do with something or other....anyways...they need to delete their history/cookies and...
