  1. There is a list around somewhere of companies that will always clearly label wheat, rye or barley (Malt) in the ingredients. If you don't see it, the products are safe. These are 2 big companies that will always reveal all gluten ingredients. I found knowing this very helpful when first shopping - Kraft & Con-Agra They make products that...
  2. The fact is that even something like carrots and ranch dip at someone else's house is risky. They may have rinsed the carrots in the pasta colander, for example. I just eat first or bring my own food. If I bring a dish to share, I bring a separate portion for me. Its hard sometimes to get the first serving. I also tell people "My doctor told me..." ...
  3. Looks like my subjects were having a Royal good time whilst I was re-watching the Cars movie in anticipation of seeing Cars2.
  4. I don't have a bread maker, but you might want to use the google in the top right corner & read some slightly older posts, too.
  5. So true! Unfortunately, if she were to visit me, she would put wheat stalks on her head.
  6. Of course they are on thier way to your house to sit in the ho tub & drink copious amounts of wine!
  7. Would you like to tell us his name & where to find him? If not, that's OK.
  8. Thanks for the heads up on that. I didn't know they made gluteny ones too. The gluten-free ones make the best pumpkin pie crust! I don't think you set yourself back 2 months, maybe 2 weeks, Once you are healed, even if you feel bad, the intestines should heal quickly. The doc may not know or may even be saying that to scare you so you don't cheat every...
  9. Isn't that a shame? How did you find out? Just curious! The rest of us might have just gone along assuming they were still OK.
  10. They seperate the oats because some people with Celiac cannot eat oats. It effects them the same way as gluten. That is why we are told not to eat gluten-free oats until we have healed. That's why some people have said that maybe you are having problems with the granola because of the oats. The test for gluten can not say 0. They have to look for gluten...
  11. We prefer the Throwback Dew! My MIL was a mess. Fishing is the way to get rich!
  12. They also require gatorade & Mt Dew. I will have them talk endlessly about servos & regulators, fireworks & violent vidoe games. Then they can hit each other & burp! I will tell them under no circumstances to help with the cooking, warming up, serving or cleaning up of the foodstuffs. Perhaps they can spill blue gatorade on MIL's lovely...
  13. You have a lot of helpers. WE can drink & supervise! For donuts & OJ & BBQ chicken for lunch, my boys will help, too! Shouldn't you be packing? Are you on here avoiding what you should be doing? (Of course I'm not doing that!)
  14. Why don't you email UDi's and ask them?
  15. 9 am is champagne & OJ time! IF I lived close, I would so be there! I helped SIL move. I can't carry anything heavy, so I took care of the delicate things & bossed the men around. "That's clothes! Don't leave that in the middle of the kitchen!"
  16. Just keep drinking! That is how I handle my evil FIL. Course I haven't seen him in 1 1/2 years so I must have another excuse for my wine! I think I will use your ILs. Maybe you can handle them like I do FIL if he ever comes back. I mostly ignore him. Only speak what is neccessary like "The one in the red dish is spicy" One of the SIL & I...
  17. When you've regained your sanity, you can tell us all about it! On second thought.....sanity isn't really required to post here.
  18. No more open ended invitations to these people. Next time, set a date for them to come. I guess sometimes rude people only understand rudeness back. Or maybe you're not rude, you're assertive. Give them some jobs. Like MIL - here are 2 boxes that need to go in the linen closet. Who really cares how she arranges that. We like our kitchens...
  19. Southern manners do not say to go to someone's house uninvited. They requested time off from work without even asking to visit? There is a reason your hub hasn't seen them in 2 years. Do what Jess suggested. Have you hub tell them to bring sleeping bags &that everything, including the extra towels, cooking equipment, etc is packed. He also needs...
  20. Have 2 jellies, butter tubs, PB, etc. Put some bright colored tape on the gluten-free one & put your name on it. Anyone who misses hot pick tape with Jen on it is just inconsiderate or mean. Probably shouldn't be in your house.
  21. You & especially thier child, Hub, must put your foot down. You are not able to have guests, you are moving. You would love to have them in 2 weeks, 1 month... when you are settled and able to enjoy a visit. Everything is packed. You have plenty of helpers. I have a feeling MIL will set up your kitchen, etc. Honestly, they can't come just...
  22. Sounds like they just gave you the results of the other tests, twice. Write down what you want to say when they call or you call for the results. Ask if they can send them to you, or email, or you can pick up a copy - whatever works for you. Write this down so you don't forget. Get a Copy even if they are positive. Ask them to read you the name...
  23. Sounds like my mom. Can't come to Thanksgiving dinner because she was up all night with diarrhea. Can't eat lots of different things without stomach distress. But she doesn't have any symptoms. Can't imagine where I might have gotten it from. Dad with gas & bloating all the time. They won't tell their doctor about my Celiac. Even if they did, I...
  24. Depends on the pans. If they are scratched or porous, they could have gluten stuck in the cracks. Colanders that you use to drain pasta seem really hard to clean. The sticky gluteny pasta bits stick in the holes and are really hard to get out. You found cheese that says gluten-free on it? All cheese should be gluten-free unless it's a specialty thing...
  25. She has some other posts about GAPS curing autoimmune diseases, cancer & tooth cavities. I hope some idiot less knowledgable parent doesn't decide she/ he has cured their kid's diabetes or leukemia. I think she has completely mis-interpreted the book & the diet plan.
