    ARCHIVED Children Tested?

My pediatrician thought it might be a good idea to blood test every year or 2 even if negative and no symptoms. I just took the Chicago fact sheet to make sure we get the right ones taken.
  2. Just to clarify for a stray reader who may not know this: Not all gluten beer has wheat - most don't. What they all have, if not gluten-free, is barley. Which of course, is a no-no.
  3. When you do something, you do it thoroughly and well. That's a good trait to have.
  4. Magpie, you have a way with words.
  5. Lemonade cake has a nice flavor, but was a little dry. The choc chip cookies are wonderful. they heat them up and my gluten eating cookie freaks love them.
  6. I love Waldo pizza. They get their dough from Olivia's Oven, a local gluten-free baker. I love going there because they have 4 or 5 gluten-free beers and they act like they have heard of gluten-free before.
  7. Nah...that wasn't it. None of my phlat tire stories are witty or insightful (just boring). Maybe that's why the computer wouldn't let me type?
  8. What about some foil to line pans so you can use them at the hostels? Or a small backpacking skillet or pan? or a backpacking coffee pot which is really just a taller pan to boil things in?
  9. Forgot what I was going to comment about. I'm sure it was witty and insightful. Just had a fight with this computer. It wouldn't let me type.

    ARCHIVED Suspicious

Maybe FIL said something. Maybe she realized she might not see the grandbaby if she doesn't shape up. Maybe she just had fun going to Whole Foods and wants to try the stuff (similiar to my hub). If other family members think she is not a witch, then maybe, she's not. Maybe, she is just confused. I'm 20 years older than you and can say that for some my...
  11. Glad you had fun! Maybe you could check on a condo in Oprah's building.I'm sure they would be just as economical as that brownstone. Lets' see: Could probably get the brownstone for $2 mil. Figuring 25 psillies that would be about $80,000 each. Hmmmm... Jess - check my math?
  12. Congratulations! Once your mom sees that you are doing well with this pregnancy, she will come around. I'm assuming you don't expect her to be your daycare or help financially. Just normal Grandma stuff.
  13. HyVee is a grocery across the Midwest - Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, etc. They have a gluten-free section in the stores and have a big list of every HyVee brand product that is gluten-free.
  14. Most food is gluten-free. Meat, veggies, fruit, etc. Lots of things I made before are gluten-free. I didn't add flour to chili or grilled chicken for example. I had to switch chili seasonings or use gluten-free pasta in a dish. One trick is- don't eat gluten-free replacements for at least a month. For example, You forget what "real" pasta tastes...
  15. Bards has a website. Maybe it will tell you where it is sold. We get it here in Kansas City.
  16. I couldn't drive that far. It would be about 9 hours from KC. Have fun!
  17. Are you still going to Chicago? I tried to meet you all there but it didn't work out, schedule wise. Had to get the new AC/heat put in and today was when they could do it. Kid has friend in from out of town.
  18. University of Chicago Celiac Center has fact sheets that are easy to read. They have one about testing relatives. When I told my parents, I joked and said "Well, we don't know anyone else with stomach issues, do we?" My mom , who constantly cancels things due to diarhea, said "no, we don't". "I don't have any stomach issues." I'm not going to fight...

  21. Jason, Would you take this new job if you had no food problems? If yes, are your food problems enough reason not to take the job? They could be, you have to decide. My opinion is that if you want the job, just start over with explaining. Who knows, maybe this group will be easier to explain to. Maybe, somebody in this group already knows about Celiacs...
  22. Spain or Netherlands? Will not miss those swarms of bees. They give me a headache. Do enjoy the jersey swapping.
