    ARCHIVED Children Tested?

Go to the University of Chicago Celiac Center website. There are fact sheets. One talks about testing children of a Celiac and what tests to get. I printed it and took it to my pediatrician.
  2. Calumet baking powder should be gluten-free. Its made by Kraft and they will list any gluten (& my can doesn't mention any allergens). Its the one with the dark red can with the Native American picture on it.
  3. Right hand dominant butcan use my left hand for many things and left footed. Most right handed people are right footed.
  4. We have: Tightwad, Peculiar & Nevada ( pronounced Na vay duh) Tightwad does a big bank business as people want checks that say " Bank of Tightwad".
  5. We use Newmans Own because you can understand every ingredient. Unfortunately, they clearly list soybean oil. One less for you to check.
  6. I just had the same issue with Neutrogena when I asked about the sunscreen. They wouldn't answer the email. Said I had to call. I assume they don't want any health claims in writing. Maybe just a CYA because they have good products that appear to be gluten free.
  7. I'm impressed she could spell it!
  8. The shredded cheese I have says potato starch. I always get Kraft which will list any gluten containing ingredients. I would like to know what shredded cheese you have seen with "gluten" and what frozen foods would have gluten dusted on them.
  9. A while back we talked about this forum adding another topic category "Celiac Singles Dating service". I suppose you could try to steer a date to something not food related like bowling or the zoo. Or you could bring a picnic when the weather is nice. I'm glad this is not an issue for me.
  10. Just got back from our July 4 fireworks on the 5th. I smell like smoke, my van is covered in ash, ears are ringing & blinded by the bright fireworks. It was a great show! Boys shot of their fireworks, too. Fingers and other body parts intact.
  11. ...and he might not be if he continues on this way!
  12. That sounds like fun. We are about to go have our fifth of July. The boys work at a fireworks stand until about1:30am. The owner then has a picnic, with a big mowed lot to shoot fireworks on. Then at dark there is a professional display. It's great!
  13. I'm glad you two are OK. I'm really glad you are able to go to Chicago.
  14. It's something to bring up with your GYN. I took birth control pills. The week you take only sugar & is your period is when I would get the migraines. I switched to a pill with a low dose of estrogen during that week. Just for a thought but it could be a migraine with nothing to do with gluten. There are a few bad things that have nothing to...
  15. I still miss being spontaneous and eating at any place at any time. But the food doesn't bother me otherwise. Some of it is that I have found substitutes that I really like. Hub made glutenfull pancakes today. They made the house smell wonderful but I didn't want any. I've actually discovered things to eat that I didn't know about. We like the rice...
  16. Soon you will be embarrassing him, just by your existence.
  17. If you are getting your endoscopy, you probably should continue eating gluten until then. Look around on this site. Just read every new post each day and that will give you lots of ideas to start with. The biggest issue for me has been that you have to really plan your food. You can't just grab something any place to eat.
  18. Have tried the "hard" ciders? I'm in the states but I know you have them too. They are sweet and appley.
  19. It sounds like a migraine. I know that these can possibly be caused by gluten but maybe it was something else. Low estrogen levels during a point in my cycle gave me migraines. We know that because we gave me a little estrogen & they went away. Also, bright sun, especially reflecting off water or snow seems to trigger them in me. Fluorescent lights...
  20. Are you doing the floor and the backsplash? You will do really well. The hardest part is getting the base, especially a floor, smooth and flat. The tile part is easy, especially with a mathematical mind. Put up pics for us!
  21. I'm just starting the baking, too. What worried me is that your family is so uncooperative. If you need to keep the special stuff separate, maybe you can take your ingredients and pans and keep them in a box in your room. I would get a plastic bin with a tight lid to keep bugs out. Also, you might want to get your own baking soda, powder, PB, etc. They...
  22. Oh Em! I am so sorry about the doggy.
  23. Sorry to hear about Bagheera. I'm sure he'll find a good home.
