  1. In my fourteen years of being gluten-free, I have never encountered any coloring, artificial or otherwise, that had gluten. Don't believe everything you read just because it is on the internet.
  2. Sprite Zero has no gluten-containing ingredients. There is no reasonable concern about cross-contamination. None of The Coca-Cola Company's carbonated beverages contain gluten. So it is very likely zero parts per million. But, if there were twenty parts per million in a 12 ounce can, it would be 0.00024 ounces. As Bartful said, zero is less than twenty.
  3. These genes are not generally recognized in North America. Perhaps this is why there are people here who test "negative" on genetics, but have celiac disease nonetheless.

    ARCHIVED Alcohol

When wooden kegs are used for aging, regardless of the means of putting them together, they are thoroughly rinsed out with boiling water before the wine is put in them. This just isn't an issue.
  5. 20 ppm is 0.002%, two one-thousandths of a per cent.
  6. We use regular PAM all the time. No worries. It is not labeled gluten-free--like many mainstream products--because they don't want a legal liability issue if one of their suppliers makes a booboo and they didn't test.
  7. To the original label question, there is no regulation in the US requiring the disclosure of shared facilities or shared equipment.
  8. The posts reflect the time zone in your user settings. If you have not set one, or are not logged in, the default is California time, since the board is based in Santa Rosa, CA. A quote will show the time zone of the member who quoted the post. I post in Eastern time, but if somebody in Chicago quotes me, the time in the quote will be Central time.
  9. Yes. You can lead the horse to water, but they have to want to drink.
  10. Kraft has stated that the label on any Kraft product will correspond to the actual content of the package on which the label appears. This is good news, since it removes any doubt that the ingredients on the product you have might differ from those in the some list the customer service rep may have. The legal definition of the ingredient, "vinegar," has been...
  11. Open Original Shared Link has several locations in and around Toronto. They are celiac-aware. They have steaks (of course), seafood, ribs and chicken. We enjoy eating there.
  12. Anaphylaxis is an allergic reaction, not celiac disease or gluten intolerance.
  13. This is already the case, and has been for years. The new law may help, because now there is a legal definition of "gluten-free," whereas in the past, it meant whatever the plaintiff's lawyer could convince a jury it meant.
  14. This thread is eight years old. Information in it is probably out of date. I would not depend on anything in this topic.
  15. HavaneseMom, when you eat melons or pineapples, do you eat the exterior? I think most people don't. If it is a part you cut off and discard, I would not be concerned if it had not been washed.
  16. "We can only guarantee" -- we only test those ones, and so will not make a statement that would potentially make us liable for an error by a supplier. This is a standard CYA legal disclaimer, and should not be taken to mean that there is actually any gluten in the product.
  17. In my 14 years gluten-free, I have never encountered a case where MFS was wheat. As Karen said, if it was wheat, it would have to say so in the USA. The same is true in Canada. It is usually corn or tapioca, BTW.
  18. Acetaminophen has been my go-to pain reliever for over a decade. If it was a problem for folks with celiac disease, I would know it by now. You may have an issue with acetaminophen that has nothing to do with celiac disease.
  19. Actually, if you bring the grill to 600F or higher, and hold it there for 30 minutes, it will destroy the proteins on the grill. But if you have anything on the grill while you do that, it will no longer be edible. The clean cycle of a self-cleaning oven will do the same thing, burning off any gluten. FWIW.
  20. Just a comment. Any app that scans the product is not reading the ingredients, just the product code. It is then relying upon a product list somewhere, which, like any list, may not have the same currency date as the product you are holding. The list may be out of date, or the product may have been on the shelf a while, and be older than the list. Now, if...
  21. At store level, the oils are not flavored, but do have preservatives. At the manufacturing facility, there is a flavor added to the oil. If you read the ingredients that you yourself posted, you will see that the second ingredient is the "vegetable oil" at the plant, which is then broken down in a parenthesized sublist. The wheat derivative is within the...
  22. The question of gluten in the Mcfries is the most debated issue of this board over the past eight years. There is a wheat-derived ingredient in the beef flavor added to the oil in which they are partially fried before being frozen. The oil using for the final frying does not contain anything but oil. The final product does not contain any detectable gluten...
  23. Yes, to be sold legally in Canada, it must conform to Canadian label rules.
  24. To the original question, we use Bob's Red Mill all purpose gluten-free flour for this.
  25. Glucose syrup is a highly refined sugar, and is gluten-free regardless of what the source was. In the US and Canada, if wheat is the source, that must be disclosed on the label.
