  1. Wow! That's a lot of things to avoid. For the butter, how about Earth Balance...they have a soy-free version. I don't know what it's made of. And as a milk substitute, some people use Vance's Dari-Free (I have no idea what the ingredients are though). Might be worth checking it out.
  2. First of all, welcome! The problem with Rice Krispies, as well as a lot of other cereals, is that they contain malt, which is derived from barley. Hope you recover quickly but I think it really depends on the person and how severe their reactions are. Rice Krispies has just come out with a new gluten-free Rice Krispies made from brown rice...the boxes...
  3. I have Annalise Roberts' cookbook but bought it mainly for the bread recipes. Neither Flour Mix A or B call for brown rice flour. I especially like the Multigrain Sandwich Bread. I did grind some brown rice flour in a coffee mill but honestly can't remember what I made with it or if it worked. But then if I baked tons of cakes and pies every day...
  4. I am very grateful that a company like General Mills has come out with so many items that are gluten-free. And like GlutenFreeManna, I never was a Hamburger Helper fan before so it's not like I'm missing anything.
  5. Tonight I'm having a leftover salmon pattie, sweet potato fries and broccoli. Plus Pumpkin-Chocolate Chip Cookies I had a box of BC gluten-free chocolate chip cookie mix that I wanted to use before it expires. I goofed in reading the directions so mine has a stick of butter, not 1/4 cup that the recipe calls for. Maybe that's why they taste so...
  6. If you bake your own bread from scratch, I'm sure you could substitute arrowroot for the cornstarch.
  7. Have you bought the gluten-free Hamburger Helper? I found it rather distasteful and I'm all one for a quick meal. That holds true for a lots of gluten-free foods.
  8. But processed food is processed food. Somehow being the gourmet cook that you are, I think you'll always make your own.
  9. I haven't used it for biscuits since it would make way too many for me and I think they're really better fresh from the oven. Is there any way you can cut the recipe down to a smaller size to test it? I know, 3 eggs are a bit difficult to divide but it can be done and probably a PIA. I have a box of cookie mix sitting out but after reading reviews...
  10. Anything to make life easier!!! And cookies seem to release better when baked on parchment paper.
  11. Sorry to hear that your daughter has problems and that you are in such a dilemma. And 12 is such a hard age. I can't even begin to imagine having to wear a corset. Isn't it possible to get room air conditioners so your house is more comfortable? They now even have stand-alone units that don't need to be put in a window. I know that may be a costly...
  12. My rule of thumb is that if I can get it clean, I keep it. If not...out it goes. I have richly rewarded myself with a bunch of new kitchen equipment as I figure I deserve it. And I didn't replace everything at once...just the things I use all the time. Heck, I'm still on a buying spree. LOL It's kind of fun to replace 50-year old stuff. I...
  13. Welcome, Sara! You might want to google the forum for bread machines (check the upper right hand corner of your screen for the search button). There have been quite a few threads about bread machines. Personally I bought KitchenAid stand mixer instead thinking it would be more versatile. But there are others here who love their bread machines.
  14. How totally clever! My mouth is watering.
  15. I'll have to add some Parmesan to the crust, which I haven't tried yet. All-in-all, I thought the pizza was pretty good. And sometimes I add more Italian seasonings after I've prebaked the crust. Since I already made it once and liked it, I need to double the recipe and stash a prebaked crust in the freezer.
  16. The recipe calls for oregano and garlic. And I also saut
  17. Today I made pancakes using gluten-free Bisquick and also had sausage patties. Actually it was kinda late to be called breakfast but it worked.
  18. Yes, there is something wrong with you!
  19. Did you heat the Mission corn tortillas for a bit (wrapped in a damp paper towel)? That does help them roll. I used this recipe for pizza last weekend from Jules Shepard and thought it was pretty good. Open Original Shared Link Cute video, too. I do have her flour but you can make your own mix. I googled and found this for nearly normal flour, which...
  20. Can you slice them into 3 parts and use the middle part for toast? I used to do that when I bought Kinnikinnick English muffins.
  21. You're welcome. Let us know what Kellogg's says. With the heat wave this past week, do you think that could have caused problems for you instead of the particular products you tried? Just a thought.
  22. Thanks for the suggestions! I made one of Jules Shepard's recipes and the sides collapsed. Determined, I tried again the same day, cut the liquid and added 1/4 cup flaxseed meal. I am always diddling around with recipes. And then some work right out of the book like Annalise Roberts' recipes that I've tried...but then she uses more whole grain flours...
  23. More info here: The Gluten-Free Rice Krispies are being made in a separate production facility that has been making gluten-free products for close to a decade. Every batch of product is tested for gluten, as is the production line. Open Original Shared Link
  24. I have old teeth! And have had a lot of dental work. I need to be really careful eating them.
