  1. I had to convert that to litres - its about 4.5 - and I used to drink that much each day. Not all at once but between say 6am and 9pm. I tend to drink sips of water all the time. I'm ok if I kept it around that much at the most, but I find if I have more than that I get even thirstier and it gets out of hand and I start to feel really spacey. My doctor...
  2. I am a crumb person :-( I took a weekend to go gluten free. Pigged out on Friday night and Saturday, spent Sunday de-glutening the kitchen and giving stuff I wasn't going to eat up in time and cookware I didn't trust away to friends; then I ate my final gluten-y meals Sunday night and finished off the kitchen. Monday morning I drank my final favourite...

    ARCHIVED Go Ask Connie

I hated vacuuming until I got a roomba. My, but it's fun sitting on the sofa watching it do all the work. And on sunday nights when I'm folding laundry and it's vacuuming, I feel like the house cleaning is a joint effort. And yes, I'm aware I sound a little too fond of an applicance, LOL. Hope you feel better, I'm glad you have such a lovely doctor.
  4. Thank you so much, that's great to have so many options. I will check them out. I think my friend is around that area too. She mentioned The Issac's and I thought their menu looked like it had a lot of safe options. I am looking at Carlos' menu now - yum! Thank you!
  5. I've been taking Nystatin for about 6 weeks now. I think it's great. I felt maybe a little off the first couple of days, but barely noticeable, no side affects since then. Brain fog is much better and my interest in sugar dramatically reduced, to the extent that even if I give myself the choice to get something for dessert, I'm still not interested. Previously...
  6. I can relate to the stumbling! I've always found it hard not to walk into things, like I bump into people walking next to me or I clip the edge of the door frame as I walk through into a room - I sort of tip towards things; I always thought I was clumsy. I had particular problems with walking down a corridor with people walking towards me, it makes me feel...
  7. Thank you for your replies. Richard, that's great you live in Roanoke, thanks for getting back to me. Lynchburg should be ok - there's an Outback Steakhouse. But it'd be great to go somewhere else as well another night.
  8. I live in Roanoke and can help you but cannot reply right now. Nudge me either on the topic or by private mail and I'll help.

  9. I'll be staying with a friend in Roanoke in October and one night we'll be in Lynchburg. There seem to be a few places to chose from in both places but I'd love to hear any recommendations and good / bad experiences. Oops, spelled Lynchburg wrong and I can't edit the subject line. Sorry!
  10. I think there is a connection between gluten consumption and thirst / peeing a lot. I used to be thirsty all the time. It was crazy. People at work tease me because when I went away for 3 weeks they barely had to change the water cooler bottles. I do not have diabetes - I've been tested a million times. I do have insulin resistance but my doctor said it...
  11. Sorry, I missed this before. I take 2 tablets in the morning and 2 at night. They are 500,000 I.U. per tablet. The brand is Nilstat and it says "nystatin tablets" (I'm in australia) so I think nystatin is the drug and not the brand - if the generic said that it was nystatin tablets it should be fine. They seem to be working really well. I've lost interest...
  12. I thought the same - and I was always aware of my stomach (not just because it's pudgy!). Now it's just another part of my body, it's not announcing discomfort 24 hours a day. I have that book on my shelf, I guess I should read it One thing I have in my favour (I think) is that I'm in australia, corn isn't such a big crop here and manufacturers...
  13. Oh no! I am so sorry you had such a reaction but I guess good you got the diagnosis. There's something wrong though about how we all take consolation in such things - would be so much nicer to find out faster. Thanks for this, interesting about the lectins. I think I need to experiment with fresh corn because it seems so far like my problem...
  14. I have begun to wonder about my reactions to corn. One of the funniest and most amazing things about going gluten free for me was discovering it wasn't normal to have a stomach ache after ever meal (who knew? I thought that was how you knew you were full ) I guess of the refined carbs I've been eating corn has become a lot bigger part of my diet....
  15. That's wonderful - I'm so glad you had a lovely time!
  16. Usually two hours later, but I start feeling very tired within about 20 minutes. Stomach ache which sends me running to the bathroom than D. Then more extreme tiredness. The worst time was cc through cooking oil and I fell asleep on the sofa that evening for about 3 hours (which was crazy, my sofa is short) and then slept another 12 hours...
  17. 1) My result was 2. I haven't seen the hard copy so I'm not sure of the range but he said it should be a minimum of 50 and 70 was optimal. So 2 was terrible. 2) He put me on 3 x 1000 IU per day. 3) I don't know yet, haven't been re-tested. He said it takes a long time, a few months at least. I live in Australia so even if I'm not lying in the...
  18. I don't think I'm getting progressively more sensitive, but I'm definately very sensitive now. I can't believe I used to eat that stuff all the time. I'm glad though because the stomach ache and D stops me from ever chancing it. I came really close to getting noodles from the chinese take away the other night but knowing the cross contamination would destroy...
  19. I vote try the diet. You might feel amazingly better. I do and I don't test positive either. You have to be strict though. It gets much easier. However, as better as I feel now, there were other things wrong with me that might be problems for you. The fatigue and muscle aches could be Vitamin D. I knew nothing about it being an issue but when my specialist...
  20. Thank you both, and for the links too! Very interesting reading. There are so many pieces to this puzzle. I fit very solidly in to the Northern European category... I'm of english and irish background. Given my symptoms, I was quite surprised I didn't share the gene. Maybe it'll be clearer after a few more decades of research. I'm only 33 - who knows what...
  21. I've never tried peanut butter. I love the pistachio one and key lime pie. Not so keen on the cherry one. It's overwhelming at first but things definitely will get better for you. Good luck!
  22. I went through pretty thorough testing and do not have the genes commonly associated with celiac, so I feel pretty confident that I'm 'just' non-celiac gluten intolerant. I think most of the symptoms that I've had resolve - the bloating, the headaches/brain fog, fatigue etc, are symptoms that I think a lot of people who don't think they have a problem with...
  23. I think somehow I got glutened by my little sister this morning. Not sure how though. I got her a regular pizza last night but we were careful with that but she must have touched something with her gluteny fingers that I've since touched. Or maybe we both used the glass in the bathroom sink. I have no idea. I'm going to have to be more careful.
  24. About the peeing, I've always been thirsty all the time and naturally have to pee a lot too. Some days I felt like all I did was walk to the water cooler or the bathroom. I don't have diabetes and no doctor has every found a reason for my constant thirst. But it resolved when I went gluten free.
