  1. You don't need a new stove but you do need a separate toaster oven and I would recommend getting a few new pots and pans just for you. You don't need to wear any sort of mask when cleaning out gluten products! lol You won't get glutened by touching someone unless you're supersensitive and they just ate a wheat sandwich or something. even then only your...
  2. You're not the only one. Hang in there!!! I had a similar experience and for me it took medicine to help me out but I don't suggest that for others unless you're already under a dr.'s care who advises it. Mine did and for a long time I refused. I tried every natural anti-anxiety/depression cure out there. My anxiety attacks would mainly include feeling...
  3. I'm so happy you got some answers:) Pretty much what I thought; if you have positive blood work you at least have an intolerance. Annie's mac n cheese is the BEST.
  4. No problem...there are so many other posters here who are more knowledgeable about the science than I am; however, I think a gluten-free diet can't hurt you since you've already had a biopsy. Normally the only reason NOT to try gluten-free is if you have an upcoming biopsy; then being gluten-free can give you a false negative. But if you were consuming gluten...
  5. I have a few friends who are bipolar and one who is also schizophrenic. He sounds like he could suffer from either of these disorders. Do NOT take him off meds! Whoever said meds don't cure anything, you are right; they only help with symptoms. BUT that is no reason to tell someone not to take them! We don't have a cure for these diseases and if a patient...
  6. cool thanks!!!
  7. Hi Jessica, I can't tell you too much about the tests, but I can tell you that my situation was almost exactly like your own. I only had one high test and the others were normal plus a negative biospy. But, some of the people on the board have said to me that if any of my blood levels were high, I at the very least have gluten intolerance. According to what...
  8. Does anyone know off the top of their head?
  9. Tootsie Pops are gluten free... as for other candies, here are juat a few that I eat! Junior mints Reese's PB cups M&M's Snickers York Peppermint Patties Hershey's Kisses Andes Mints Almond Joy Cadbury Eggs Caramello Starburst Tootsie Rolls Sour Patch Kids Those are just a few!!
  10. I agree with a lot of what you said, Rachel. My doctor doesn't deny leaky gut or systematic candida infection exists, he just says that if you truly have them you would be so ill that you would not be able to function normally and that you would more than likely be hospitalized. He was saying that if toxins really were leaking into your bloodstream that weren...
  11. Ummm, my doctor isn't a moron. He was voted the top GI specialist in Phoenix 2 years running. He's amazing. He does NOT believe in candida overgrowth in the intestines, nor does my general practitioner. That is a subject not all experts agree on. There are a lot of people that try to sell you on stuff so you can buy their products. I'm not saying these...

    ARCHIVED Migraines

I have terrible migraines. Usually Relpax takes care of it. But I'm starting to get them more frequently, and longer ( last week it was 6 miserable days). My doctor gave me a prescription yesterday for blood pressure meds because he says they work to prevent migraines. He says I'm taking too much Relpax and I have to take this other medicine and try a different...
  13. I'm a teacher, too. I take the gifts I can't eat and give them as gifts to kids and other teachers. Most of them are wrapped so nicely, no one would ever know! and a lot of times it's just standard candy anyhow, so no one will ask if you made it yourself!!
  14. I buy Kinnikinnick gluten-free English muffins or bagels and make cold cut sandwiches. Boarshead lunch meats are gluten-free. Or I eat a bagel with peanut butter, gluten-free of course. Or I bring a piece of chicken with rice and veggies from home Congrats on the new job!!!!!

    ARCHIVED Rubio's

Okay....for months now Rubio's Mexican Restaurant has told me their steak and chicken tacos with corn tortillas have no wheat/gluten/flour whatsoever and that I can have them. I've been eating there periodically and have never gotten sick. I went in this weekend and they have new allergy info. posted that says their steak and chicken contain wheat. I asked...
  16. Yeah, I went through a phase where I thought I had absolutely every disorder related to the gut! colitis, diverticulitis, cancer, leaky gut, candida, crohns disease, you name it. But since these doctors did not know each other and both said the exact same thing I believe them. I also thought once I had a "systematic" yeast infection where it was all over...
  17. Oddly enough, as sick as I was, I never suffered from depression before going gluten-free. Once I started gluten-free, the depression got bad. I'm not sure why but I now take anti-depressants and they help keep me functioning. Something changed in my body for the worse after going gluten-free. My stomach aches got better, but I got depressed, dizzy, anxiety...
  18. This is what 2 doctors told me and I have no idea if it's true because I don't know much about Leaky Gut, but I did ask my drs about it when I was searching for clues to what was wrong with me. They both said that if I had leaky gut I would be hospitalized and there is no way I'd be walking around, even sick as I am. They both said it is so bad if you have...
  19. I'm with the others. I never eat at someone else's house, period. I bring my own food or I don't eat. It's just not worth it.
  20. The bag I have in front of my says nothing about that...hmmmm
  21. Does anyone eat these? According to the bag the ingredients look OK but I was just wondering
  22. NAU? Is that Northern Arizona University? I live in Gilbert, a suburb of Phoenix. I know a LOT of great gluten-free places in Arizona if you need them...just write back!
  23. First of all, you absolutely need to see a GI doctor. Second, if you really want a true diagnosis, you must eat gluten. It is worth having the diagnosis because not knowing means going 100% gluten free and inconviencing yourself needlessly. It is easy to remove wheat, but not to change your shampoos, lotions, soaps, make-up, laundry detergent, stop eating...
  24. I think you need two or three separate pots and pans. I would NEVER use a pot that had cooked regular pasta-it sticks all over and gets in the cracks. Since my hubby is not gluten-free I bought a set of 3 pans for about $20 at Target, and a large pot and a strainer for my gluten-free pasta. silverware and plates are fine.
  25. HI there, It is hard at first but once you learn everything it will become the norm for you, just like anything else. For some people it takes awhile to get better, so hang in there. Make sure you check all of your shampoos, make-up, lotions, laundry detergent, etc to make sure you are getting all gluten out of your diet. Also you might want to buy ...
