  3. You're not doing anything wrong. Real food is expensive compared to processed junk. Is there a membership club like Sam's or Costco in your area? You can save a lot of money buying groceries in bulk there. You might also see if there is any sort of vegetable co-op or community sponsored agriculture to get your seasonal veggies for less money.

  5. No, having only one celiac test is not accurate at all and TTG-IgA is lacking in sensitivity. It only picks up maybe 80% of people with celiac disease. Most of the research articles I've read lately suggest DGP-IgG along with the TTG-IgA. If you're positive on either you are very likely celiac.

  12. Lotta claims, no science, no real explanation of what the product is. I wouldn't waste my money. The enzyme preparation that might be worth getting is Biocare Glutenzyme. It has the gluten protease from barley that Alvine is investigating. Problem is, you will probably have to order the product internationally because of the Alvine patents.

  14. I had the same thought about low total IgA and negative TTG. The DGP-IgA is something like 85% specific, meaning you have about an 85% chance of having a positive biopsy. It's just not 98% like DGP-IgG or EMA so you don't know for sure what's going on from the bloodwork.

  17. I'm confused too. Sometimes people have only DGP-IgA and no damage on biopsy. I haven't seen any studies to explain it. In celiac, gluten gets processed by TTG to make DGP.   18. Good point! Hyperthyroidism definitely causes irritation and sleeplessness. If it's longstanding it's more likely Graves' than Hashi's. Hashi's will make you swing between hyper- and hypo.

  22. Gosh, you're not getting very good care. That's nothing new though. Did your doctor take celiac biopsies on the EGD and do you happen to know which test came back negative? You just have so many gluten intolerant or celiac symptoms I'd hate to see you go without a proper workup.
