It's possible you messed up celiac tests by being mostly gluten-free. I've read the high IgA can happen in celiac disease but it's far from diagnostic. You would have to go back to full gluten for a couple months to get an accurate test. That's not a silly question at all. Gluten is the only food known to directly cause autoimmunity. I don't think blood sugar has much to do with candida. How could it? The candida is in the intestines, not the blood. All the stuff I've read on Candida says that it is able use any kind of sugar or starch you eat pretty effectively. Hi and welcome. When you had your endoscopy and your doctor saw inflammation, do you know if she did a biopsy? It would be good if you get those results along with the blood work. Gluten sensitivity is diagnosed by trying the diet for a couple months. If you feel better you can challenge by eating some gluten again. You know for sure if the symptoms... -

Did you even bother to read the abstract??? As the abstract states, they were looking at anti-EMA IgA as the measure of celiac and tested genes and antibodies at the same time in a single blood draw. I think you misunderstood me. Nystatin is a fairly toxic drug and while it's supposed to be poorly absorbed, allergies and side effects are still possible. Herxheimer symptoms are not very specific and many of the symptoms overlap Nystatin toxicity reactions. TTG is an autoimmune antibody that is usually caused by celiac, but it's not 100% specific by itself. With both DQ2.5 and positive TTG he definitely needs to be off gluten. No, for some celiacs like Roda the problem is the oat itself. There are studies where celiacs eating pure oats with no gluten CC had antibodies and villous atrophy. -

Your question has already been answered with a 10,000 person genetic study. There are a few biopsy-confirmed celiacs without the genes. The risk of having celiac disease without DQ2 or DQ8 in the study was 0.16%, meaning it's unusual but absolutely not impossible. Open Original Shared Link -

I think I'm still having reactions to foods. The one problem with GAPS is that the skin patch test is a joke. I tried it with some plain yogurt and had no skin problems. When I ate the yogurt I had a really bad mental reaction.

I'd suggest eliminating oats for now. There is not only a CC issue, but some folks with celiac are sensitive to them because they're so closely related to wheat and barley. You can always try certified gluten-free oats like Bob's Red Mill after you're feeling better. -
