  1. It's funny how we're all different. The fiber from all the whole fruit and veggies and coconut flour bread is doing wonders for my digestion. My stomach wasn't in that bad shape though. I'm looking for neuro and autoimmunity benefits.
  2. Swinging between hypo-hyper is typical for early Hashi's. It's no fun at all! This site has TONS of info about thyroid. Here is the diet page. Skip the tofu (it's bad for you anyway) and go light on raw cruciferous veggies. Open Original Shared Link I've been trying a diet that's supposed to heal leaky gut and help autoimmunity but I don't feel...
  3. TTG antibodies can show up in Crohn's and microscopic colitis as well as celiac. Anti-DGP can be negative. Have your doctors ruled those out? Some people require a super-strict diet to recover from celiac. If there is still gluten in your kitchen, you're eating a lot of processed foods, or you're eating out a lot you may be getting too much gluten to...
  4. Thanks IrishHeart. I remembered to mention milk but totally forgot eggs! Kathryn, I have Hashimoto's too. What are you trying as far as diet for thyroid? I haven't had any luck so far feeling better since the last big thyroid slide.
  5. Yes, it can. Gfpirate has given you some bad advice. You need to keep eating gluten until you have your celiac testing done. The celiac tests all rely on finding the antibodies and damage that gluten causes. If you go gluten-free right now you will never get a firm diagnosis. Celiac is an autoimmune disease and it puts you at risk for further autoimmunity...
  6. With the amount of pain you're experiencing, it sounds like at least the CAT scan is a good idea. Hopefully you won't have to move forward with anything more invasive. A lot of us do have other food intolerance and soy and other grains are high on the list. You haven't been gluten-free very long. If the CAT scan is negative you might talk to your doctor...
  7. Grain fed meat is safe, and milk where the cows are fed wheat is also safe. You don't bleed orange juice when you drink it - it is broken down in your stomach and the components make your muscle, blood, and bone. Same with animals.
  8. That ferritin is kinda weird with everything else looking good. Makes me wonder if it was a lab error.
  9. I'm happy to help, though I'm as bewildered as you are. I don't see a total IgA. The reason I'm asking is that a celiac panel is run with IgG in people who are IgA deficient. IgA deficiency is a risk factor for celiac disease and we do see it in a fair amount of people on the board. In folks with normal total IgA, the IgG antibodies are less specific,...
  10. Folks who are sensitive to mold and mildew can have trouble with black pepper because it tends to have mold and fungus on it from the sun drying.
  11. Yes, plus remember there is some variation between measurements. That quick disappearance of antibodies in some people is why it's so hard to catch celiac once someone goes gluten-free. Others struggle to get rid of the TTG with a super-strict diet so be glad yours are going down fast!
  12. Tell him to bugger off and save yourself another month of illness and autoimmune damage. One positive test and the rest negative could conceivably be a lab error, but not high positives on the full celiac panel! If he suspects a lab error and wants to retest you, what is the point of waiting a month? Stupid doctors... You almost certainly have celiac...
  13. Some of us know just fine off hand. She doesn't need to go buy a book! TTG is an antibody against tissue transglutaminase, an enzyme involved in tissue repair. It is autoimmune and while the most common cause of anti-TTG is celiac, it can appear in rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease as well. (There may be...
  14. I'm not juicing. I prefer my fruit and veggies whole because they're more filling and the fiber really helps my GI system function smoothly. It's also too easy for me to drink a bunch of sugar if I let myself have fruit juice. Even homemade can be quite sweet. As far as the dehydrator, it's dry where I live so I can dry seeds and nuts overnight on...
  15. I got it, but Google Translate is probably cheating. Rick you're learning how fast this board can get rolling with something fun.
  16. If the biopsy is done and blood has been drawn, there is no reason for him to continue eating gluten. Just cross your fingers that something stupid doesn't happen like the lab losing his sample.
  17. The GAPS books look to be selling for about the new price used. Any chance you could buy the book, read it, and resell? Read these, and follow as many links as you can to get an idea of what GAPS is. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Also read everything you can on its "parent" diet, the Specific Carbohydrate...
  18. I'm doing GAPS. I am not using anything unusual other than a crockpot for simmering broth. I would not be comfortable sleeping or leaving the house with the gas range turned on and it takes all day (or overnight) to get good broth. My food processor was handy for shredding carrots and cabbage to start my veggie ferments but you can use a knife and board...
  19. Warrior princess! I love it. I did glutenologist fast - needs more thought. Or perhaps frequent changing. I'd clearly better get to work to flipover to 4,000. I could use some good luck!
  20. Custom title? I hadn't figured that out. This is going to be fun!
  21. I use a wooden spoon with a comfortable handle and stir hard. Gluten-free doughs usually aren't stiff enough to knead but as RiceGuy mentions you can always stick your hand in the bowl and mash/squish until it's mixed.
  22. Poor exercise tolerance and hair loss are classic hypothyroid symptoms. It's possible you were hypothyroid before you went gluten-free and the diet helped for a time. Make sure your Dr. reads your TSH on the new reference range. It should be between 0.5-2.5.
  23. Any healthy diet is fruit and vegetables, lots of them. For cardiovascular health, she has to control fats. No trans-fat whatsoever. This means NOTHING cooked at high temps with vegetable oil because the vegetable oils convert to trans fat at high heat. No chips of any kind. (The labels lie - they manipulate portion size to get the trans fat to look...
  24. Sorry, but on the bright side you'll feel a lot better once you've lost all the antibodies and healed.
  25. Wild. I had no idea dogs could get celiac. So, dogs can get celiac and they are a creature that really shouldn't eat grains in the first place. Does that extend to humans? Are we not really supposed to be eating grains?
