ARCHIVED Doughnuts
GlutenFreeManna replied to Dixiebell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I don't even like doughnuts that much and this has me drooling. Thanks for sharing! -
ARCHIVED My Body Is Obviously Insane.
GlutenFreeManna replied to Emilushka's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I understand it does get old making the same bland things over and a over. You could try making extra for some things and freezing them for quick meals. Also a crock pot is a great investment. -
ARCHIVED My Body Is Obviously Insane.
GlutenFreeManna replied to Emilushka's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Lactaid pills don't work for everyone with lactose intolerance. People have different levels of lactose they can tolerate. If your body is very damaged than lactaid may not help. When I first started out i could not even do lactose free cheese, after about 5 or 6 months dairy free I could do yogurt and small amounts of lactose free cheese. Also I have... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Bisquick
GlutenFreeManna replied to BethM55's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not tried to make gluten-free Bisquick biscuits, but I have noticed that many gluten-free baking recipes in general do not do well when you increase or decrease the number of servings. I think it has something to do with gluten free recipes depending more on the weight of the flours rather than the volume. If you can't get Pamela's, you might try... -
ARCHIVED What's Up With This?
GlutenFreeManna replied to nananana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your experiences are really common. I never had stomach problems prior to going gluten free. I had other symptoms, but not the typical digestive ones. Now the smallest crumb and I have bad stomach pain and D for days in addition to all my other symptoms. It sounds like you have a gluten intolerance. Welcome to the board! -
ARCHIVED Invited To A Pampered Chef Party
GlutenFreeManna replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your honest answer. This is what I am leaning towards. While I know the person hosting it's not like she's my best friend and I might only know one or two other women there. The point of this type of "party" is really the food and sales. -
ARCHIVED Invited To A Pampered Chef Party
GlutenFreeManna replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you mean to eat at the party or just eat before I get there? I don't want to be too weird, but I guess there's no way around that.... -
ARCHIVED Feeding "normal" People
GlutenFreeManna replied to K8ling's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Glad to help. I actually found that blog before I suspected gluten as a problem for me. I love how she never made a big deal out of the glutne free thing--the blog isn't a "gluten free blog" even though everything she makes is gluten free. I enjoyed some of the recipes long before I was gluten free and most don't require weird gltuen free ingredients,... -
ARCHIVED New Here, And Have A Weird Question. (long Post, Sorry!)

The original post is from 2007. Just wanted to make sure people know that that person may not post here anymore. -
ARCHIVED Invited To A Pampered Chef Party
GlutenFreeManna posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, this is a bit ironic since I just gave advice in another thread about how to go to parties and decline food. However I have been invited to a Pampered Chef party and I'm not sure how to handle it. I have been to one before and everything they had was gluteny. The problem is, I know the woman hosting it, but I don't know the sales rep. I'm also not... -
ARCHIVED Dining As A Gluten Free Guest
GlutenFreeManna replied to Rowena's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If it's a dinner I explain to the host that I need to bring my own food (and why) and I bring enough for everyone. I usually do a mixed greens salad with great toppings like nuts, dried cranberries, goat cheese, apples or pears. Sometimes I'll take a grilled chopped chicken breast to put on my own salad so it's more like a meal for me. And I'll have a... -
ARCHIVED Feeding "normal" People
GlutenFreeManna replied to K8ling's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you seen the crockpot blog? Open Original Shared Link I think almost everything she makes seems "normal" and it's all gluten free. I make "normal" stuff all the time like soup, stew, salad, tacos, stirfry, grilled meat and steamed veggies, etc. There's tons of food that is just naturally gltuen free (or easy to leave out the gluten without noticing... -
Just be sure to ask enough questions about the preparation and the ingredients. If you can at least find a place with ingredients lists and/or an allergy menu that would be helpful. One place I know to avoid is I-HOP--they put flour in their eggs. Other places may do this as well or cook eggs on the same skillet used for pancakes or french toast. I would...

ARCHIVED Baking For Someone With Celiac Disease
GlutenFreeManna replied to clazzics's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You are really very sweet to want to make something gluten free for your friend. I have to be honest, however, I would not eat anything any of my friends made for me, even if they used all gluten free ingredients. Not because I don't trust them, but because this type of baking takes a lot of practice and requires so many precautions. Unless they had been... -
ARCHIVED Baking For Someone With Celiac Disease
GlutenFreeManna replied to clazzics's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are you baking for a family member (like a child) or are you baking for a friend? If you are making something for an adult that has been diagnosed for a while it would be best to ask them for tips. Many celiacs have more than one food intolerance--I'm guessing you are also trying to cut out dairy for them? Some of us also have problems with soy so that... -
ARCHIVED Pumpkin Recipes (And Stuffing?)
GlutenFreeManna replied to India's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
How about this for stuffing: Open Original Shared Link It does have onions, but I think you could leave them out or use leeks instead if you can tolerate leeks. -
ARCHIVED Pumpkin Recipes (And Stuffing?)
GlutenFreeManna replied to India's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have not tried this recipe, but it sounds very good: Open Original Shared Link Oops, I just saw that you are corn free, so a corn bread stuffing won't work -
ARCHIVED Gluten Eating Nightmare
GlutenFreeManna replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My recurring dream is that I get to be on Survivor and the only food they keep giving us for the reward challenges is things like cookies and pizza and burgers. And I have to go climb trees trying to get coconuts or bananas to survive while all my tribemates eat their reward. Then they have a challenge that requires EATING and the stuff we have to eat is... -
ARCHIVED Ww Pumpkin Muffins Question
GlutenFreeManna replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Just to update: I made the gluten-free Betty Crocker yellow cake mix and used pumpkin puree in place of the butter and water. They turned out good, but not very pumpkin tasting. Next time I think I will leave out the vanilla and add some pumpkin pie spice. They were a good cupcake though and at least it cuts the fat/dairy by not using butter. -
I'm not sure if this is directed at my comments but but I AM 100% clear on your question. The answer depends on how sensitive you are and how careful you are about washing your hands. I was trying to explain that to the other person asking questions. I don't think the gluten can be absorbed through your skin. Gluten is not a drug, it's the protein in...

My glutening symptoms can take up to 72 hours to appear, so yes it could have been cc from Unos. However, I didn't know Kix cereal was safe--what are the ingredients? Have you started using any new personal products like a new shampoo? Make sure vitamins and everything else are gluten free. Also depending on your symptoms it may not be a glutening. The...

All I know is some people here claim they do not have to worry about lotions, shampoos, soaps, etc. because it has to be digested or go directly in the blood to create antibodies. But for every person saying that there are several claiming the opposite experience, that they get sick from using personal hygiene products with gluten in them. Then some people...

Raven has the best advice. Unfortunately you will have to pay and then spread the word to everyone you know NOT to visit this jerk's practice. I tried to fight a charge once for a pregnancy test I didn't authorize. I went in because I had a fever and was throwing up. The PA asked if I could be pregnant and I said that was impossible because I was not...
