  1. This looks yummy. But I don't know how to measure in grams (I'm assuming that's what the "g" stands for?) Why are some measurements in grams and others in tablespoons and cups? I thought T and cups weren't metric? Anyway... I wish we could have a conversion thing for those of us who can barely cook anyway, without throwing in the wrinkle of metric.

  4. You mentioned the peanut butter so I'm wondering if you've tried the all-natural peanut butter? Just nuts. That's it. Most stores like Whole Foods and lots of grocery stores have a grinder somewhere in the store and they have peanut butter right there that's been ground, or you can do your own peanuts. I'm pretty sure you can also buy pb already-packaged...

  6. Yah, I hear you. Mine was bottled bbq sauce. I was so careful -- we had steak (with just some salt and pepper), baked potato, and corn on the cob. No gluten anywhere in sight. So why didn't I think to read the bottle of bbq sauce? Who knows... my only excuse was that I'd only been at this diet for a few weeks. oy.. Hope you feel better soon.

  9. I just had my new stove delivered last week. And I have a box of this Gluten-free cake mix sitting right on my counter! woot! I could never bake in my old oven because the temp settings didn't work properly. Can't wait to try some cupcakes! Now, if I could only find Gluten-free bisquick I'd be in heaven.

  13. Where did you find it? In a regular store? I can only get Udi's at Whole Foods so if I could find a good bread at my regular store that would be great! I really don't like going into Whole Foods because I'm am totally incapable of just going in for one thing and coming back out again. lol...   14. I don't know the ingredients of the crust because I can't remember the name of the company that he told me. I thought it was great! Not quite the same as regular gluten crust but definitely I'd buy it again. And it was NOT $20! oy... I just went to the website and the one I ordered was $12.00. Still pricey but definitely worth it once in awhile.

I went back all the way to the last page of this forum and just browsed my way forward. lol... I've also browsed in the "people with kids" forum (or whatever it's called) and got TONS of good ideas there for snacks, and things like that. And don't forget...
  18. I mean, I know what it is -- it's eating in order to pinpoint something that's causing a reaction. But is there "the" elimination diet? i.e., week one, eat just this and this and that. Week two, eat just these things. etc. Or is it basically just eat plainly and gradually introduce things that you think are bothering you? I'm going to go Google it now...

  21. Good idea. I'll do that next time I'm in my regular grocery store. I think I'll even ask Whole Foods if they can carry the Katz breads. They already have a pretty good selection, but variety is a good thing. (and my regular store doesn't carry any kind of gluten-free bread so Udi's there would be great.)
  22. When you're at the doctor also ask about dramamine for little ones. We would not have survived my daughter's childhood without it.
  23. I can't speak to particular brands, but I will say that I just had a CT scan. I had to drink three bottles (gag) of something optimistically called "banana smoothie". I'm positive it was gluten-free because I had no gluten symptoms. My general "yuck" feeling was definitely only from drinking three bottles of it. At least they were pretty small bottles...
  24. Yes! I did request the free sample from Katz! Can't wait till it gets here. I agree, I'm so thankful for Udi's. The other night I served spaghetti and garlic bread to my family. I cooked Tinkyada pasta for myself, and toasted two slices of udi's with butter and garlic powder and had some yummy garlic bread.
  25. I'll second (third, fourth, gazillionth?) that Udi's bread. I'm gluten only, but am going to start today with avoiding lactose also. Just from milk and icecream. Not sure I have a "typical" menu, but I might eat this: Breakfast: cereal (will be using Lactaid milk for awhile), or eggs, or a cheese wrap (corn tortilla). Sometimes just coffee...
