Joni63 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Way to go Aleshia and Kat! Your progress is great! I'm trying to eat a lot less calories for now. I was told to limit my exercising until I can get my iron back up. So...I quit karate for now. I did jog Monday - I'm so afriad to stop completely. It's bummed me out but at least I know why I would feel so lousy after a couple days of really good... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Is Beating Me Down...
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, your right. They do know. I did ask them to pick up after themslves today and last night and they were actually pretty good about it. It's my fault for being too lenient most of the time. It's hard to have to 'keep after them' to do something and sometimes easier to do the task myself. Does that make sense? Thank you! It is a lot... -

ARCHIVED Celiac Is Beating Me Down...
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Andrea, I did have a 2nd Cealic panel at 6 months and all of my numbers came out negative. 2 were elevated prior to my diagnosis so I was pretty happy that I was able to get them down in the negative range so quickly. I have had a few accidental glutenings and mistakes along the way, but the numbers were all negative. I just went to see a Naturopathic... -

Hey online makeup friends, I'm really impressed with the new site and products! Just wondering if anyone can load the 'custom kits' page yet? I was looking around on the web last night and found a neat makeup tip for dark circles. Haven't tried it yet, but I want to eventually. Hot Tip of the Day: Use black mascara for the upper lids and... -
ARCHIVED Could I Have Undiagnosed Celiac And Gain Weight?
Joni63 replied to Britt-ME's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you felt better when you were gluten free before, it can't hurt to try the diet again. Also, if you were tested while you were gluten free the tests would have been negative after 2 years. I was only gluten free for 6 months when my bloodwork all came back negative and it was clearly positive the first time. -
ARCHIVED Could I Have Undiagnosed Celiac And Gain Weight?
Joni63 replied to Britt-ME's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Britt, Before being diagnosed with Celiac I was steadily gaining weight. I always had this nagging feeling in my stomach and felt I needed to eat. I also had hypogycemia symptoms and would get what seemed like low blood sugar if I didn't eat every 2 - 3 hours. Since going gluten free the hypoclycemia and steady weight gain is much better. I still... -
ARCHIVED I'm Hungry For Cereal
Joni63 replied to kimis's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just bought a box of Rice Chex. The thing I noticed about them is that they are enriched with vitamins/minerals. I've been eating Perky's but they are not enriched and do not provide any extra vitamins/minerals, only protein and fiber. I haven't tried them yet, but will be tomorrow morning! -

Wow! It's nice, but I can't get everything to work. I like what I see though! I definately have to have Bubble Tea eye color and probably Plane View! And it looks like Soccer Practice is a nice lip color. The custom kits won't load for me so I can't check them out yet. The pictures are very nice and I think from a first glance that the color swatches... -

ARCHIVED Still Having Major Hair Loss And Zero Energy...
Joni63 replied to LisaN's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi LisaN, Many things can cause hair loss and low energy. Thyroid, you would need the full panel including free T3 and free T4, iron deficiencies - specifically serum ferritin level. I would also have your doctor check other vitamin levels like all B's, D, E, A, K, magnesium and your iron levels (including serum ferritin). I'm dealing with this right... -

If your talking about the regular celiac panel markers I believe it's almost certain she has celiac if they show up positive, especially the first one listed below. Are you talking about T-transglutaminase IgA, antigliadin Abs IgG, and antigliadin abs IgA, T-transglutaminase IgG, and Endomysial Antibody IgA??? Are these the tests that were taken?

Ear Problems Associated With Celiac

Did you have your specialist visit yet twinsmom? Wondering how you made out? -
I've always had constipation too. I find now on the gluten-free diet if I eat too many carbs/proteins and not enough veggies and fruits, it shows up quickly as constipation. I don't believe some people just have bathroom issues unless there is a problem. Something must not be right! Do you eat lots of fruits/veggies and drink lots of water? I don't...

ARCHIVED Alopecia, Sjogrens And Gluten Intolerance
Joni63 replied to healthygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi healthygirl, I recently found out I am serum ferritin deficient and have been reading a lot about iron deficiencies. Alopecia is related to serum ferritin. It is not part of the routine CBC and must be ordered as a separate test. Do a search for them together and you will find plenty of information! -

Hi CuriousOne, I completely understand what your talking about and I know I'm extra sensitive to things like light and caffeine. I also know that if I take naps during the day I WILL NOT sleep right at night, no matter how small of a nap it is. That's really tough for me because I'm fighting iron and D deficiencies and I'm tired all the time. Have you... -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Scared About The Biopsy?
Joni63 replied to Darcie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Darcie, I think most people have an experience with it that's better than they thought, I know mine was. I had a colonoscopy/endo same time and was nervous before. Before the nurse put the IV in she told me that most people wake up feeling like they have slept better than they had in years. That was definately my experience. I went home and had a...
