  1. Hi blondebombshell, I'm not sure I understand your situation completely. Have you been faithfully gluten free since August or have you been testing gluten sometimes? It seems your symptoms are less when you don't injest egg/gluten so you have figured out some of the causes. Also, you went gluten free for 4 months then had an endoscope (if I'm...
  2. Hi Susan, Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts are safe. If you like cracking your own, Diamond of California sells mixed nuts in the shell. I like them because they are not roasted and I eat less when I have to shell them. It's too easy to grab handfuls of Planters because they are already shelled, plus the salt can be too much.
  3. I've read that some Celiacs will continue to have malabsorption problems depending on the severity of their villi damage when they were first diagnosed. Milk and soy can also cause villi damage along with some other infections and ailments, which would cause malabsorption to continue. Parasites can also cause malabsorption and anemia (hookworms especially...
  4. Hi, When I'm out for the day I use Hormel Healthy Choice turkey and soy cheese on rice crackers. If you can pack a small carry around cooler with you, you will have lots of choices. Fruit, salad, spam, Planters mixed nuts, peanut butter and jelly, soy joy bars or gluten free bars, rice chex made into a snack mix w/ nuts raisins, chocolate chips...
  5. I agree with some others here that it is early for him in the gluten free journey. I remember my stomach was still bloated for 2 - 3 months and I felt pretty lousy and foggy for at least 1 month. My vision even became really blurred for 2 full weeks. Sticking to foods that are not processed and keeping away from milk entirely for a while might be a...
  6. Hello Online Makeup Friends! I went to the site and my cart is EMPTY! I guess it was full for so long without an order - they emptied it! I couldn't tell you what was in it, but it took a long time to get everything I wanted in it! I guess I'll have to start over. I don't like this special at all. I'll have to try the pressed powder some time, but I...
  7. False negative blood tests aren't really uncommon, but something isn't right if he is getting worse on the gluten free diet. Is he still drinking milk? Lactose intolerance can cause many of the same symptoms. I also found this: Villus atrophy Atrophy of the intestinal villi, the typical finding in coeliac disease. Coeliac disease or gluten enteropathy...
  8. Hi Lisa, LOL, good thing you had it for that wild ride. I can't even stand being a passenger in a car being driven normally! Unfortunately I'm not close to Canada. I will look online for it though. Maybe there is a US equivalent?
  9. Hey hightop girl, Just curious - what is an anti-autoimmune diet eliminate, or should I say consist of? Yep, I think it's the NorthEast syndrome! You should get your levels checked. I never would have suspected a D deficiency. Next month they are checking so many more vitamins/minerals. Hopefully my iron and D will improve! ...
  10. I can't do bus trips without feeling ill. Is there anything I can take that will not totally knock me out and is gluten free? Thanks!
  11. Your so right! I grabbed a bunch of granola bars out of the gluten free section of the health food store and didn't realize one had oats until I took my 2nd bite and felt it just didn't seem right. Sure enough the package said "Oats". It's a mistake I only made once.
  12. Hi Laura, I just wanted to add that I'm having similar problems. I've only been gluten free for 8 months, but my energy level is horrible. I eat really well, no sugar, low carbs - about 90% whole grain products, no dairy, no caffeine, (I cheat with chocolate sometimes) a lot of fresh fruits and veggies and meats, and very little processed food. Recently...
  13. My appointment is set for the 26th - 2 weeks from today. Hopefully this will be a positive experience and step in the right direction.
  14. Hi Julie, I think I would either call the person and ask them, or just use a brand that is definately casein free depending on the situation. I think being as careful as you possibly can is your best bet.
  15. Glad you have great Doctors Kassandra. It amazes me when they will work together like that. I would love to be able to set up that kind of support. Actually, my PC just might be willing to work with the ND. She is very open-minded, just not Celiac literate (like many traditional MD's) Smart idea to buy them at thier office first, then buy more online...
  16. That is encouraging okgrace! I asked her if she wanted copies of my tests/bloodwork and she said she wants everything! Do you have to buy the supplements they supply? Or can you get them at a local health store or order online (which can be cheapest). I still can't believe her rates. All other ND rates I've seen are far higher!
  17. Hello, I am so excited to have found a PHD in my area who is an ND and an RN! She charges $45.00 for the first 1 1/2 hour visit and $28.00 for all visits after that. Isn't that really reasonable - like cheap for an ND? How do your visits go? What do they want to know? Just curious what I should expect from seeing her. And what I need to be...
  18. Oh, great idea! I think I might do the yogurt. I went dairy free for a while, but want to challenge it anyway...so that might be a good start! I will check out mercola.com. Thanks! I'm looking for good USP certified supplements. Thank you, I will surely check them for gluten free. I am eating better than I have ever before. Lots of raw veggies...
  19. Hi, I'm sorry I can't comment on the blood results, but I have just been diagnosed with low serum, ferritin. I've read through tons of information that says if your serum ferritin is low you can lose hair. Your TIBC, UIBC, Iron serum, and iron saturation can all be in normal range. Have you had any bloodwork for vitamins/minerals lately?
  20. That sounds interesting. Easy to use and highly absorable. Good luck with it! My B12 is actually on the upper middle of the scale. I am supplementing because it can't hurt, but I don't think it's a real problem.
  21. I'm doing the candida diet and the casien free diet along with gluten free now. I think it's helping with weight, but I also quit caffeine and all coffee and that has made the biggest difference! Wow- your dropping pounds like crazy. Good for you! I think the cravings will go away in a few to a week. It seemed to take me about 5 or 6 days.
  22. Oh Liz, I am not liking the liquid Carlsons or the Floravital! One tastes like liquid tin and the other feels like it sticks in my throat for an hour! So I'll be checking around for good capsules/pills. Stopthethyroidmadness.com is a agreat resourceful site. I honestly think the vitamins are probably my only problem right now. Once I get those...
  23. twinsmom, How did you 2nd opinion go?
  24. Judy! So glad your new ENT is very good! Unbelievable that the other Doctors couldn't figure out it was ear wax causing your problems. Stick with his guy - he sounds awesome. My mom recently bought me a Sinus Rinse bottle caused NeilMed from Walmart. It's supposed to be as good or better than the Neti Pot. I haven't tried it yet, but plan on it soon. ...
