  1. I'm days away from my one year of being gluten-free. I have learned a lot here in the past year, thank you all! My daughter just announced she wants to go gluten-free to help me. I have not had my children tested yet. Their doctor thought we should wait for signs, I disagree. Both of my children may already have signs. My daughter has headaches and mood swings...
  2. My dentist had no clue when I asked if it was gluten-free. The last time I had my teeth cleaned, I brought my own toothpaste and they mixed it with pure pumice.
  3. Were they peanuts out of a bin? Those can get CC. I did eat Planters nuts and trusted them. I was eating a lot of almonds etc this past summer. I was still having a lot of side cramping and tummy bloat. I was allergy tested and found out I'm allergic to peanuts, tomato, almonds, and some melons. My reactions to these food were all gut related. It took me...
  4. So, I want to tell off a co worker who has no compassion and has said neg. things about Celiac! She was like "Lays chips are gluten-free"! why aren;'t you eating them everyday! Well because that's junk food!!! Almost lost my religion! She acted like I should be so happy I can eat plain lays chips!! URGHJ!

  5. When I went gluten-free at first I did not realize how much I was cross contaminating myself. I went to a gluten-free deititain that helped a lot. I kept a food diary and slowly learned what bothered me. You have to understand your digestive system is shot. You won't digest normal, sugar gets digested late and causes issues too. Hang in there, it took me...
  6. Two quick things I like gluten-free camping. Baked potato with any gluten-free thing you can thing ofon top bacon, veggies, herbs, butter, chili etc. Also fresh bananas grilled! Pull open one end only, split banana alittle add marshmellows and chocolate chips. Pull that end up wrap in foil and grill! Dish to share? What types of cooking methods will you...
  7. How about meatballs with your ground meat? You can spice them up several ways! Eat with the veggies grilled?? Can you eat quinoa? that would go good with a stir fry. Glutenfreegoddess has several tastey recipes for quinoa. I often pound my chicken breast thin and stuff them with herbs and veggies I like. I lay the chicken out put the herbs and veggies on...
  8. Chicken baked in parchment paper (my new fav way to bake) THANKS! With fresh basil, fresh lemon thyme, lemon juice and veggies. Fruit salad with strawberries, blackberries, grapes and fresh pineapple.
  9. NateJ and everyone, HUGS! I'm like Wow too! To have someone see you sick and be so insensitive to it. I'm a single mom so all I have to worry about is my kids. They are almost gluten-free. I only cook gluten-free and limit the snacks etc they have. Gluten filled snacks are kept away from my kitchen in zip lock bags. They may have some frozen dinners, but...
  10. All corn and corn products bother me. I am corn free and if I slip up, I pay for it! I am mostly a whole foods diet, but sometimes feel deprived. I did eat corn chips or another grain once a month. Corn is the worst for me. After I ate my last corn chips, I decided it wasn't worth the pain and bloat the next day.
  11. Another fuzzy headache : ( On the upside, I had an almost pain free day this past week!

  12. I do, but only because of the corn ingredient. I bloat and cramp some after eating them. No glutened feeling, just tummy troubles.Same with starbrust, gluten-free jelly beans, hard candy and peeps. All gluten-free, but all have high fructose corn syrup. It took me awhile to figure it out.
  13. I was told to replace my colander strainer, toaster, cutting boards and anything wooden. I'm a single mom, so I replaced what I used the most first. Slowly I have replaced pots, pan and dishes for me. They aren't the high quality I once had, but they get the job done. I was in so much pain for so long, I was willing to try everything.
  14. Even though my blood levels were very positive for Celiac, my DR wanted the Endo to DX me Celiac. I put it off for a month because of work. Looking back, I would never do that again! I wished my DR would have educated me more on gluten and what it was actually doing to my body. I'm glad I had the Endo to see how bad my damage is. There are several here that...

Did you any symptoms of celiac disease before getting the diagnosis? I'm sorry you are still feeling pain. I have been gluten-free for two-three weeks now and still feeling tired, depressed at times, headaches and fat; on the good side (LOL), they are slowly dissipating with time. The weight is slowly coming off. I hope you do get better.

I had some slight symptoms for years. Reflux, migraines, tummy problems. I started having diarrhea and more fatty stools, I lost a lot of weight, and then in Nov 08 I started having intense abdominal pain. It spread to side pain, so bad I ended up in the ER. I also had abdominal distention plus what I know know to be brain fog. I went through 7 months of doctors and many meds and testing to it to come down to a blood test and endo. I knew it was gastro related because every time I would eat t...

  18. Could you get the number and call them yourself? That may help you have more or know the ingredients.
  19. I drink a few brands of white wines, and have not had a problem.
  20. That is so awesome, truly a blessing!
  21. Thanks to all the replies!I have enjoyed reading how you feel about this. I don't feel it defines me as a person, however, it is a part of who I am. I went through many emotions when I was first DX. I'm past those now and focus on the positive things in my life. I've been through several things in life and feel this another one, learn and live! Perhaps it...
  22. Thank you all for your wonderful replies!!!!
  23. Thank you so much, you assume correctly. I am going into my 12 month gluten-free. I know most people don't want to hear about me being Celiac, so I don't talk much about it. Most think I'm crazy when it comes to CC issues. Thanks for the reply, I agree with you.
  24. So, I haven't eaten out in over four months because I got sick the last time. I'm afraid of it really. However, it was my birthday this week and I wanted to try to go to a resturant that has done good by me twice. There is a chef and gluten-free menu. This makes me feel safer somehow?? Anyway, was planning on going there with my kids for lunch today and do...
  25. Tonight I'm trying something new! fish in parchment paper with some fresh herbs(dill and chives) and lemon. I added some veggies on top of the fish, it's baking now. I also did one with a chicken breast, lemon thyme, basil and veggies for lunch tomorrow. Throw in a side salad and a bowl of strawberries.
