  1. is it possible you are getting cc'd enough to be going through withdrawal again? i know that when i first went gluten free, i went through it, i had heart palpitations also night sweats. and i cc'd myself months later with things that i made and froze early on before i got 'better' at fixing food for myself. i didn't think i could be that sensitive in...
  2. i/we still bake (crusty 'regular' bread, frozen pizzas, etc) for the gluten-eaters and sometimes it recommends placing the (whatever) directly onto the oven rack. so if i am using the rack below it, i will cover it. <in case any stuck on gluten bakes off and drops into what is baking below it) or JUST USE THE TOP RACK! (@ my HUSBAND!!) for the life...
  3. doc: so, what's the problem? me: same one as usual... (looks at chart, looks up at me) doc: well, it's because you have IBS - see? (shoves chart in my face where it is written in big letters "IBS") me: yeah. you guys keep saying that. what exactly *is* IBS? doc: it means 'Irritable Bowel Syndrome' me: so, how do i get rid of it? doc (shrugs...
  4. true dat. fish and shellfish used to make me flare up - also ibuprofen but i can't remember why...
  5. i had been very sick for a very long time, so the people who know me take it seriously. one of my friends who was my 'recipe/foodie buddy' from church made me stuffed grape leaves when i was first diagnosed and told me there was no gluten in it. when i opened the container it had lemon sauce on it. I ALMOST DIDN'T CALL HER and ask her what was in the sauce...
  6. i'm so very sorry for your loss - just lost my best friend's husband in december it sure sucks. (nothing to do with gluten, he had a massive heart attack) we were really close - now my husband has to walk their daughter down the aisle when she gets married..... we were pregnant at the same time, too. the shock of losing someone so suddenly just blows...
  7. YEH!! what kind? did you make them? i got rid of my waffle-maker (it was too tempting to keep around ) i need a new one now you're just going crazy (and i really want chicken and waffles now) and we are having: chicken <no waffles> with wild mushroom & balsamic cream sauce orzo for the gluten eaters, gluten-free noodles...
  8. Little vent-My Mom is another story. She tries to be helpful, except I've asked if she cannot loudly proclaim in the grocery store, "Do you see any of your gluten foods?" I bite my tongue because I want to say, yes I see PLENTY of gluten foods, but I need gluten-free. Do you think next time we're near the diet coke, I should loudly exclaim, "Do you see...
  9. one less, because of you i blame the gluten-free fad diet. everybody wants to jump on that wagon. hopefully, the people who need to ask the questions will ask them. i wish people understood this better if you gluten me i lose 14 days. four. teen. days.
  10. you are a brave soul lolz do you eat at the same ones every time? like they know you and understand about cc? i am skittish about eating out, but that is just me. plenty of people on here eat out with no problems but they are not notme haha - seriously, if i felt like i was getting glutened i would look there. sometimes people aren't as careful as...
  11. everybody is different - i felt better almost immediately, but i felt like 8 wks was noticeable. i started gaining weight again. i was overjoyed to have 'cheeks!' again, like when i smiled i could see my cheeks. i was like a skeleton, though. at nearly 3 years gluten-free, i feel like i am still healing. all the time i am having little milestones (carrying...
  12. hi heather - are you currently eating a gluten-free diet? many of us were (mis)diagnosed with alot of those things you listed. most of my symptoms that were thought to be caused by something else actually cleared up by eliminating gluten.
  13. LOLZ i hear ya! although people come to my house and my cabinets are lousy with them - jars, jars jars! especially now, while the garden is not producing yet i have jars-in-waiting haha i really need to organize them/store them better but life is fast and furious - i can always find something better to do
  14. my doc did additional testing when i was tested for celiac to rule out a bunch of other things that could have similar symptoms. i would make sure it's not something else that might need to be treated differently. good luck and if gluten free is your answer, we're all here to cheer you on. no cheating lolz
  15. yayyyyy!! i want champagne too!!! made gyros from buffalo bison meat and bacon, ate them on premade udi's pizza crust - yumzz last night we 'lobster boiled' (with corn and potatoes) as celebration - only have the oldest and her hubs and adorable grand daughter once a year due to the USAF - so we splurged (or so it started out) i actually ended up...
  16. just lie. screw it. unless there is a chance that you could magically make everybody behave nicely, you might as well stick to your original plan and save yourself the aggrevation. can you tell i have some family members i must deal with this way? lolz - they even catch me lying and i just laugh and laugh
  17. from a healing point of view, yes, i have had a myriad of problems clear up since going gluten free - migraines, body aches, joint pain, skin, hair and nail problems, etc. - even problems i didn't know could be related to celiac like vertigo. also, not so nervous all the time.
  18. maybe you can find one good restaurant and order a bunch of similar food as the street food. i do it when i go to a carnival, for example, i bring a couple of slices of gluten-free pizza with me so when everybody else is eating their (cheesesteak, sausage sandwiches and pizza, etc) i can eat mine, too. lolz i'm surprised i haven't got food poisoning from...
  19. i would not do it. in fact, my doc advised me not to because my response to the diet was so evidently positive. she did the scope without me having to do a challenge. i think a challenge would have had terrible consequences because i was already in bad shape. in retrospect, i am pretty glad i didn't let gluten steal one more minute from my life. i got...
  20. GOOD NESS, love2! that was extreme! LOLOLZ
  21. i gotta say it: i kind of teared up a little - you guys really understand what it's like to not be able to do anything (or have the energy, ambition or courage) that requires effort. i am seriously not feeling like i was hit by a truck! it's amazing was a little tired of doing things yesterday but all in all i was active most of the whole three days...
  22. yes, dek, my blood test was negative and i was diagnosed via endoscopy. i had already been gluten-free before testing and my doc said, being as i was so malnourished, not to eat gluten. she could actually see the damage when she did the scope.
  23. i would guess that you are getting cross-contaminated somewhere. have you replaced your cooking utensils that could have residual gluten trapped in them like wooden spoons and cutting boards? have you switched your personal care (shampoo, conditioner, etc) to gluten free brands? are you kissing the significant other after they have had gluten? there...
  24. lolz - what sort of man does Single Lonely Can't Hold a Relationship hoda prefer? WHO CARES. who the crap is taking dating advice from this self-centered biatch, anyway? blah, blah, whatever.............. that's my thoughts on hoda. and i expect nbc to continue it's downhill spiral, especially since they are now owned by comcast <the biggest...
  25. since i have been gluten free, my hair isn't as gray as it used to be. at all. and it doesn't break and split as easily. i have been able to grow it (lengthwise) longer than i have been able to since i was a teenager. i think it's because my healed intestines are able to absorb the nutrients that i wasn't getting before. i can go 6-8 wks without coloring...
