  1. Thanks for the feedback. They didn't do any antibody testing, just the genetic testing. For the most part I am okay with the responce...but, he was kind odd...claiming to be feeling like an expert in celiac, so I guess I was a little nervous. (not in a "I've had training and I am an expert" kind of way, but, in a "see I guessed right again" kind of way...
  2. I agree...it just sounds "cold" to me... I like warm & fuzzy..
  3. I like Udi's, and if you go to their web site, there is a $1.00 coupon. I really like the Schar's rolls I have gotten, but have yet to find their bread in the store. I found a recipe for Bob's Red Mill bread on one of their label's (not the bread mix, but a flour) that has been my favorite by far (it included powdered milk). I tried Namaste's bread mix...
  4. I have the lightly sweetened iced coffee and haven't had any issues. The ingrediants are only sugar and microground arabic coffee. Seems safe to me!
  5. (I haven't found a Yoplait that isnt gluten free yet, and they say it right on the package) I think snack items too, like Kind bars (Some prefer Lara...but I can't get enough of the Kind) I love Van's Free waffles and gluten free granola (Udi's). I agree, keep all the gluten free together. I hate when organic is mixed with gluten-free, too. It...
  6. I just bought cases of Kind bars. It worked out to $1.25 a bar (and I LOVE them) I saw their Food Should Taste Good chips were something like $.90 a bag, but I didn't order them as they were the olive, which I can't stand. My last purchase as pasta...ratidore in bulk, and Ancient Harvest Quinoa and Corn spagetti by the case.
  7. I need some feedback from all of you informed, experience people. I was disgnosed about 3 months ago. I had been having pain I believed to be my gallbladder. I had an ultrasound and then HIDA scan, but both were inconclusive for my gallbladder. So, I was sent to the GI Dr. He did an endoscopy and colonscopy, including biopsies to rule out anything going...
  8. I am SOOO sorry for your loss. I don't have any advice related to your questions, but I just wanted tell you how sorry I am. I have a couple close friends who have lost babies...I know how difficult it can be. (((HUGS)))
  9. Hold 'em tight and never let him go!!!!
  10. Here is the response I got: Thank you for writing us regarding Unilever . Common ingredients that may contain gluten are rye, wheat, oats and barley, and noodles and pasta prepared with any of the previously mentioned grains. HVP, TVP, flavorings, are likely to contribute gluten as well, however, if they contain any gluten, the source would always...
  11. I decided to contact Unilever. Here is what I sent: "I have been diagnosed with celiac disease. I need to avoid products with wheat, barley and rye, including any derivatives of these. I am wondering if your label will identify if any of these ingredients are used in your products. For example, if Barley Malt is used, will it be labeled as "barley malt...
  12. I just tried Bob's Mighty Tastey Hot Cereal. LOVE IT. It is more like cream of wheat or grits than oatmeal, but it's good. I know I saw Rice Cereal (hot/cooked) I would think that would be better for a child with food issues, unless one of the issues is rice
  13. I haven't heard of Joan's but I have tried Glutino which was hard and dense. Loved the Udi's, but it is more like a bread (I have decided to try them as a hamburger bun! ) I just bought Kinnikinik (Sp???) but haven't tried them yet. I do like their hamburger buns...need to be nuked for a few minutes for it to be the best, though. I have had Schar's rolls...
  14. Alright....I happen to have Bacardi Strawberry Daiquiri in my freezer. The ingredients are High fructose corn syrup, sugar, water, strawberries, lime and lemon pulp, concentrated lime juice, natural flavors, citric acid, potassium citrate, red #40 and Green #3. I tried to look on their website, but I got no where (couldn't search anything) I have an...
  15. My DS took Accutane, but had better acne relief from going gluten-free! He hasn't been tested, but we think it's likely he is celiac as well. He went gluten-free before my dx, and doesn't think it's worth having to go back on gluten.
  16. I was at Walmart and asked the other day...they didn't know their products are labled! Now I know. I left and spent my money at a different store!
  17. My first attempt after going gluten-free was with King Arthur's. After that I tried Bob's Red Mill. I much preferred King Arthur's. I now am a flour junkie and have lots...
  18. I would say if I can do it...anyone can!!
  19. I went to Amazon and was able to "look" at the books. I put together a whole wish list as well. (I did double check that I had Annalise's book there on my list!) I just picked up The gluten-free gourmet makes dessert! Can't wait to try the recipies. She also has some mixes that she calls for, but it looks like you can figure it out pretty quick. (I...
  20. It seems to me....when looking through gluten-free cook books yesterday....I saw a recipie for canneloni. I checked the book I bought, and it's not in there....maybe try googling a gluten-free recipie.
  21. One of my "symptoms" which resolved after going gluten-free (despite not know it was due to celiac) was poor word retrieval. I feel I have a pretty prolific vocabulary, so when I couldn't find the simple words I was trying to say, I was frustrated. That has resoved in the 3 months or so that I have been gluten-free. Gotta wonder!
  22. My first holiday gluten-free as well (I feel like I am in an step meeting or something ) I am hosting Thanksgiving. Everything will be gluten-free except the rolls and maybe a pie or two my sister will bring. (I think they all should be tested anyway, so gluten-free won't hurt them a bit!) I already warned them there will be no stuffing (unless I decide...

I had called Papa Johns when I was helping my sister move. They were very UNhelpful in trying to determine if anything on their menu is gluten-free. I was trying to see if even their wing would be okay as many are. NOT a good experience. (My local pub uses The gluten-free Pantry's french bread/pizza crust and they do a YUMMY job with it!!!
  24. Look for Chex cereals. They say in big letters right on the front box which are gluten free...and they are the "normal" price. I know lots around here have talked about finding alternatives, so I am certain they are not safe. I have noticed in the last 3 months (since going gluten-free) there are many "normal" products which specifically state gluten free...
  25. I did a similar crust for a dish. I needed a top crust, so I rolled it out on wax paper with plastic wrap on top. I was able to peel off the plastic wrap and use the wax paper to hold the crust together to get it to the top of the pie. I had to use the same technique you used with the bottom crust so I was a little nervous if I would be able to make it...
