Yes they do! MSG in the crunchy cheetos! Darn it! Oh well, at least they were gluten free. And I think I just ate my last cheeto...waaaaaaa -
ARCHIVED Duhring Disease - Can You Give Me Some Tips?
eatmeat4good replied to gunny7's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Your Duhring's Disease is Celiac Disease. Duhring discovered the skin disease in the 1800"s but he didn't know it was related to gluten. Later the connection was made. People with Duhring Disease must be gluten free for life. If you don't stay strictly gluten free, your mild rash can turn into something much more severe. It is very hard to heal. The antibodies... -

Uh Oh!! Don't you dare tell me I can't have Chocolate! Yes, hell yes I have a problem with Chocolate! I LOVE IT!!! I only eat Dove Chocolates. Both Dark and Milk. Is that a problem for you? My last time I got CC'd...I had eaten Palmer's Chocolate covered peanuts. No gluten ingredients-cool. the label said Made in a facility that also processes... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free For 2 Weeks And Feel Great - Do I Need To Get Tested?
eatmeat4good replied to benj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just want you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post! I am thrilled for you! You will find yourself aging backwards now...and oh gosh is that fun! I have been gluten free one year. I have had a weight problem all my life. I've eaten more food in the last year than I did in the last 5 years. I weigh 115 now when at my sickest with Celiac... -

ARCHIVED Dermatologist - Dh Biopsy Strategy?
eatmeat4good replied to Metoo's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'd be absolutely certain I had a dermatologist who was willing to perform a biopsy before I ingested any gluten at all. You know how awful it is and how long the reaction lasts and how hard it is to heal. Sooo unless you have a written agreement for a biopsy...don't hurt yourself for nothing. I saw 3 Chiefs of Dermatology at different hospitals and none... -
ARCHIVED I'm 98% Convinced...should I Bother With Testing?
eatmeat4good replied to rarmama's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you want to be tested, quickly call the Dr and get it scheduled for a full Celiac panel. You might get away with it. It might still be negative but at least you tried. I considered testing for about 24 hours...then decided to heck with it...I gotta feel better NOW. I don't regret my decision. Later was diagnosed due to the healing in my DH on being gluten... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Changing?
eatmeat4good replied to GlutenFreeAustinite's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you want to continue exploring this with someone else...get a new allergist or nutritionist or naturopathic helper. She isn't helping you. You probably are doing your own research successfully by eliminating and observing reactions. For what it's worth, I believe you are Celiac even if she doesn't. Do you? If you do, then stay gluten free and be really... -
You could still be right. I have both salicylate sensitivity and Celiac. Bout a year ago I did some heavy research and found that salicylate sensitivity occurs in about 1/100 and Celiac in 1/130 people. If that is true then it stands to reason that a bunch of Celiacs are also salicylate sensitive. You might also be reacting to nightshades though...

ARCHIVED Unresponsive Dh To Gluten Free Diet?
eatmeat4good replied to CNV2855's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have DH and have been trying to heal it for a year and 4 months. Getting there. But I have to restrict iodine. For that follow the Thyca.com low iodine diet. Iodine keeps the antibodies active. Also, I swear my DH reacts to salicylates so I follow a low salicylate diet too. Salicylate sensitive people react to benzoates which are in a lot of foods... -
ARCHIVED Should Mental Recovery Take This Long?
eatmeat4good replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If he is a good Dr. he won't hate you. He should understand that you are miserable and trying to feel better and making the best decisions you can for yourself. The thyroid is tricky and they have a hard time regulating meds anyway, so don't apologize, just tell him you were miserable and you suspected the meds and now you think you would like to take them... -

ARCHIVED Should Mental Recovery Take This Long?
eatmeat4good replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I saw an endocrinologist for the Hashimoto's. He said he didn't want to medicate for that very reason, anxiety would be the result if one didn't really need the Levothyroxine. He didn't want me to feel worse. I wanted to take a thyroid med because I had more depression than anxiety but they wouldn't let me. I guess we wait until the thyroid burns itself out... -

eatmeat4good replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Skylark makes good points yes, do be sure you are taking vitamins too. And that they are gluten free. I have Hashimoto's too, but my levels always test normal for now. I'm not on medication at this point. Probably will be someday. -

Cook everything in tin foil. That is your best option for now. I got an electric skillet and cook everything in that. You can make rice in the microwave with a plastic container like those glad disposable containers. I know some people are worried about PCB's and plastic in the microwave...if you are one of those then use glass. Um...I don't worry about that... -
ARCHIVED Should Mental Recovery Take This Long?
eatmeat4good replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ok, your reactions can vary and it can go like this. Your body is relieved that the huge gluten load is gone when you go gluten free and stop ingesting large amounts of wheat. So it stops reacting and you start feeling well. Then your body starts reacting to smaller and smaller amounts of gluten because it doesn't ever want to have to deal with gluten again... -
ARCHIVED Should Mental Recovery Take This Long?
eatmeat4good replied to bbdailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think you are constantly getting glutened and you don't really know yet how it feels to not be glutened. Flour is easily airborne and can hang in the air...some say for hours...some say for 2 days. If you walk into the kitchen and breathe...you can get sick from the wheat being inhaled hitting the nasal passages and ultimately making its way to your stomach... -

eatmeat4good replied to luciddream928's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So sorry you are almost out of sick days. I know it sucks to get glutened and you can feel really out of it. I have found people are not very knowledgeable about gluten. They don't even know what gluten is but they still say it isn't in the dish or product. One way to protect yourself is to read the ingredients list yourself. I know that doesn't help you... -
ARCHIVED The Hardest Part About Celiac For Me Is...
eatmeat4good replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
...For me the hardest part is knowing there are thousands or hundreds of thousands of depressed women sitting on their couch watching their body deteriorate after having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and told it won't get any better and they are wondering what the hell happened to their lives just like I was for 7 long years. I often think of the depression... -

I was severely debilitated by brain fog, depression and anxiety. I knew being gluten free was helping but it seemed awfully slow and I had recurrent anxiety. Traces of gluten bring back depression and anxiety so severely that I wondered if it could really be from gluten or if I was essentially losing my mind. You have to be extremely careful about cross contamination... -
Well, I have run out of tomato paste....and I just make it without tomato paste. It's still yummy. Really! And when I suspected nightshades I decreased the tomato part and then eliminated it. I love the dish even without tomato paste. Another thing I do is put whole peeled garlic cloves in there without crushing or anything. They turn soft like roasted...

I was completely sick because I didn't know I was intolerant/sensitive/allergic to aspirin. I didn't have a huge reaction just chronically deteriorating health. Aspirin can interfere with your metabolism and add that to being an undiagnosed Celiac already dealing with malabsorption issues and I was an absolute mess. I was taking Ibuprofen for migraine headaches...

ARCHIVED Why Do I Now Get Sick From Gluten When I Didn't Before Going Gluten Free
eatmeat4good replied to JulieAC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
People who do not have Celiac/Gluten Intolerance can go on and off of gluten as many times as they like with no reaction. However, those of us with Celiac/Gluten Intolerance will have reactions ranging from mild to severe with some reactions so mild that they are imperceptible. However, damage is still being done to your intestines if you are Celiac. If you... -
I went back and forth on whether it was dairy or egg bothering me too...for several months in fact. In the end..it was both. Ugh... no egg, no dairy for me....and then soy started bothering me.
