  1. Do you have a small fridge? If so, get a small electric fry pan...and buy meat...hamburgers, steak, chicken breast...all can be quickly and easily done in an electric skillet. Salad greens if you tolerate raw veggies. You need protein...and canned meats are not good enough...they are full of preservatives. If that is all you have access to it can do in a...
  2. I'm right there with you. I used to think Oh I can do this! I would eat in restaurants...but after a few attempts failed...I decided it's just not worth it..ugh! Maybe there are certain products that are always safe for super-sensitives...and we will find them! Wouldn't that be nice? Should start a list of things that never make anybody ill...ever...
  3. I've been scared to try chex. I'm afraid I am that sensitive too. But I can't say for sure...because I just don't test things very often. Kettle Brand Kettle chips don't bother me. Do they bother you? I eat those and Rudy's bread and that is about it...except for some chocolate.
  4. You should only cook gluten or non-gluten in them to be safe. I have read that cast iron is safe if you re-season it by burning it off in the oven at the highest temp...gluten is incinerated by that. I wouldn't dare use it and wash it and use it for gluten free. But that is just my opinion.
  5. I loved their chocolate until I read wheat on the ingredients. Wow! Why? So sad. Wish they would change that.
  6. That is exactly what happened to me. After I gave up gluten I found that I reacted terribly to all preservatives. Especially MSG, food coloring and Benzoates...it is awful. Knocks out almost everything but meat, veg and fruit.
  7. God Girl! Hot Links, Saurkraut and Gluten Free Beer... I think you have your answer! I'm hurting just reading it.
  8. I don't know about the medication. But yes for sure gluten traces can cause behaviour problems. You might have to check out the school situation very carefully. and if you are a gluten eating home...maybe have everyone go gluten free for her sake if you can possibly swing it. She may also be dairy intolerant...but then that wouldn't make the...
  9. She is tripping...telling you no to the Celiac tests and then telling you your symptoms are a result of wheat. You should tell her that you can't tell a person is gluten intolerant OR Celiac from the outside. Duh... Yeah, I went the rounds with Dr.'s too. I have Hashimoto's but I have no experience with the meds...my TSH still runs normal...but I have...
  10. Unfortunately that is probably typical of most dermatologists. The Registrar knows more about what DH can look like than the consultants or the Dermatologists do. It is very common to be told it is not DH. But then to have the gluten free diet clear it up. I lived with the damn rash scarring my face and 3 chiefs of Dermatology told me it is neurotic excoriation...
  11. Have you had your thyroid checked? I'm thinking specifically for Hashimoto's? It might be a good idea.
  12. A lot of people didn't get relief for many weeks...and sometimes many months. While it would be nice if it was instant relief for everyone, that is not always the case. ARe you eating dairy? It can have the same effect as gluten for some people. The villi that produce the enzyme to digest dairy are often absent or damaged in Celiacs. I didn't want to...
  13. I would be so thrilled if you post a picture of it if indeed you do decide to get that tattoo!!! My son will be thrilled too! I might even get us both tattooed if you come up with a pretty one! Hahahaha You made my day!
  14. I have no idea why a Dr. would not suspect Celiac with your symptoms. Every single one of them is on the list of Celiac symptoms. I had the left sided pain and nausea and vomiting too. It took a while...but I did heal. Even if you don't test positive for it, and many don't, you should still try strictly gluten free. It makes me sick to know how many women...
  15. God, what a nightmare you have been through. Yes, you could still have Celiac with normal appearing villi. Just like you can have Hashimoto's with a normal appearing T4. Since you don't test positive for Celiac, all you can do is go gluten free and I mean strictly so. If you are sensitive to gluten, then you will be miserable with any consumption of it...
  16. All the recipes in Elana's Pantry are made with coconut or almond flour and she prefers the Agave sweetener. Her site might be perfect for you.

  18. A Phoenix rising up from a pile of wheat...this is what my son suggested when the question of a symbolic tattoo for Celiacs came up about a year ago. I thought it was perfect.
  19. I can't eat processed meat due to the preservatives. Are you sure it's gluten? I get sick from both. Gluten is way worse, but preservatives make me feel lousy too and cause D and stomach pain. Hormel has preservative free lunch meat. That is what I eat...but not very often. I haven't gotten sick from it....yet.
  20. Yes, it is probably withdrawal. It can last for several weeks. It is very uncomfortable, but once your body adjusts things will start getting better. There will be good days and bad days and you may think you were glutenend even if you weren't because your body is detoxing. You are absolutely right about that. My stomach was rumbling and gurgling and I decided...
  21. I have a gluten free kitchen because it is just me and my son and he has to be gluten free too. But I shake and tremble at the thought of a shared kitchen. My sister wants me to come for Thanksgiving but I tremble at the thought of trying to eat gluten free in someone else's kitchen...even though she says she will cook gluten free...I don't think I could...
  22. Open Original Shared Link Check out Dr. Bernsteins site. Whether or not your Diabetes is type 1 or 2, he has had success treating both with diet. Sorry you are feeling lousy and tired. I hated feeling so fatigued I could not live my life. I will also mention that some people are sensitive to all grains and the Paleo lifestyle can resolve lingering...
  23. You could check out Vegiac.com....it is a site for Vegetarian Celiacs..you might find good info there. Being a meat eater, I didn't stick around there very long, but it looks like it might be good for those who are vegetarian and celiac.
  24. One year gluten free and DH sores still healing. The last 4 leasions are very minimal. I kept interfering with the healing by eating salty foods like chips and iodine containing foods like eggs and dairy...causing them to welt and the healing process had to start all over again. So much better at healing without those Gluten AND Iodine. Trace gluten is awful...
  25. you will find that you are very welcome here. And yours is a very well-written descriiption of what it is like to live with long-term undiagnosed Celiac/Gluten Intolerance. Don't get stressed about not being tested. Many people don't test positive and yet find that they absolutely must eat gluten free. I decided i didn't care if it was called Celiac or Gluten...
