  1. There are some posts on here about geographic tongue...in the archives. Do a search...It's pretty interesting. Don't worry about testing, you already got your results. That is just my opinion. I would suspect there will be no way for you to return to eating gluten say two years down the road. You will likely have reactions the rest of your life...but the...
  2. Yeah, I second the NutsOnline people. I have ordered many times and never get sick from their gluten free stuff or their nuts and nut flours.
  3. It does, but you have GOT to get every last trace of gluten out of your diet. It is very hard to do and sometimes you won't know where it came from, but you will KNOW when it happens because that type of anxiety is very specific to gluten ingestion. Examine everything again, you might be getting cross- contamination or trace gluten.
  4. I gave up the bread after a month of gluten free. I really needed it in the beginning, but now I don't. I just eat things without labels. Meats, veggies, fruits, nuts. That took the grocery bill down a LOT. Now a gluten free baked good is a once a month treat. A pasta dish every other week. I do however eat chocolate in the form of Snickers on shopping...
  5. I am still shocked at how very ill I become with just trace gluten....it is awful...like having the flu. Yes, it is very common.
  6. I use Dawn for everything...dishes...bath and body...hair..laundry....I love the stuff. Stain remover too. Um...if he is allegic to it...I don't think it is gluten...it would have gotten me.
  7. My son always fell asleep after eating pizza. Or in the afternoons at school after eating his sandwich. Never figured out why until he was 16. He no longer falls asleep except at bedtime. Gluten can act exactly like an opiate...and put you out. I fell asleep after eating too later in my undiagnosed state. They said it was depression or fibromyalgia...it wasn...
  8. There was a woman who wrote on here that she was diagnosed with MS and was on the Montel Williams show to talk about the diagnosis. Years later she found out what she really had was Celiac...all her symptoms resolved and now she works to spread the word to others with MS that they may need to be tested for Celiac or go gluten free to see if it may be the...
  9. M&M's are safe. Plain and Peanut. Not the crispy ones or the Pretzel things...they have gluten. Hershey's is supposed to be safe, but I've read of people having reactions...something about manufacturing processes have changed. However, I eat them and do not notice a problem. Snickers are safe. Reeses are safe...but read the label...some contain wheat...
  10. Mine started on one side then radiated throughout my head lasting 12 to 24 hours. Horrible. Directly related to gluten.
  11. Good for you and your daughter! I just cringe when I read of someone embarking on the 3 month gluten challenge only to find out they test negative but feel sick as a dog on gluten. I feel relieved for you! Congratulations on saving your own life.
  12. I loved that movie. Of course I don't remember the line about wheat. But that is very precocious of them wasn't it? I wanna live there...a society without wheat. Can we get a Celiac Utopia started?
  13. Can you just stay gluten free and let the testing thing go?
  14. Thanks for posting this! I have a few friends I keep telling about carbs and cholesterol or gluten and cholesterol, but they just keep eating grains and taking Lipitor! I needed this evidence-Thank you!
  15. I got a disc shaped sore on my outer calf that lasted a year and a half. They treated it as fungus since it looked like ringworm. It never went away with the medicine though. It had raised edges and itched like crazy at night. After 2 years it went away. Then I got tiny pinpoint itchy blister bumps between my fingers every so often. They would itch, break...
  16. I had severe muscle wasting before diagnosis. If it is happening after you have been gluten free for a couple of years I would have the Dr. look for possible causes. Make sure you take your vitamins and that you are consuming enough protein...and that you aren't getting gluten of course. I hope will post what you find out.
  17. You can lead a celiac to gluten free food but you cannot make her eat that way. I'm sick as a dog and mentally ill with cross contamination. I would never cheat. Gluten seriously disturbed my cognitive and mental ability. I had impaired perceptions and couldn't do basic problem solving like drawing connections between cause and effect. Maybe gluten is...
  18. Yes, I had this exact same issue. All carbs seemed to make me very ill. So I ate mostly meat and healed. Now 8 months in, I can eat potato and rice in small amounts with no problem at all. I thought I was totally carb intolerant, but seems my metabolism is improving to the extent that I will be able to eat them normally eventually. Vegetables also were impossible...
  19. I went through the Snickers and Coke in the evenings Phase. I just decided it was OK with me for a while...and it was OK. Later when I felt better, I made a rule that I have to eat a whole bag of frozen vegetables (or equivalent) and 3 servings of meat per day in order to "earn" my Snickers. Think I was not eating enough food and this way, I was mainly...
  20. My stomach hurt really bad the first few months I was healing. I attributed it to growing baby villi. The mental picture helped...I knew it was healing but the rumbling and pain were crazy. I was only eating meat and produce at the time so it wasn't glutening (I get other symptoms with that. I just wanted you to know that yes, the healing process is up...
  21. That is a very good description of how my DH started several years before it became the full blown blistery rash.
  22. My youngest (15) to this day loves "cold corn". Frozen corn - still frozen.
  23. When I first went gluten free I had no appetite at all. I found it difficult to eat one meal a day. Then suddenly at 8 months gluten free, I am ravenously hungry. I eat 3 meals for the first time in my life. Plus snacks. I crave butter and put it on everything. Food tastes better than it ever has in my life. I'm healing and you must be too...isn't it fun...
  24. I buy mine at NutsOnline.com. I get their Almond flour too. They also have Cashew flour which I am going to try next. They grind it very fine...lovely stuff.
