  1. I have been meaning to voice my envy - it seems like my endometriosis, if that is what it is, has only gotten worse since going gluten-free... Or maybe I'm just that much more aware of my body now. At any rate, it hasn't lessened... Stephanie
  2. I use Source Naturals. It tastes fine and is small. Stephanie
  3. I have not been able to get either of my parents tested for antibodies, but a family friend, who is 74, was interested enough to look into her own health (history of food problems and losing weight/appetite). She had scopes and tests and aparantly doesn't have gluten intolerance (at least not Celiac) but they did as a result find an ulcer, so she's being...
  4. Thanks, Rachel! The spinning question mark was making me queasy but I didn't have anything else at work to put up. Now I've been home spending a lot of time with my cat, I had to put him up there. Stephanie PS he just walked in as I was typing this and I got embarassed. Uh, ok, need to start spending time with PEOPLE!
  5. Thanks! I have a few days off and have been spending a lot of time with Benny (my cat) and I'm gonig to miss him like you wouldn't believe when I go back to work next week. I don't know if he'll miss me but we have been spending some quality time lying around together. I love cats to the nth degree. Stephanie
  6. I get angry when I have gluten. I also get really frustrated, drop stuff, knock into stuff, get weepy, etc. It is a rollercoaster. However, knock on wood, I haven't had any gluten accidents in quite a while and am finally feeling pretty good about it. I think it's been at least two months. It does get better! Stephanie
  7. I don't have kids but that is what I used to go through myself before I cut out refined sugars and started eating more protein. I learned a few years ago I am hypoglycemic. There is a long-standing joke in my family about my brother, me or my dad - when we start getting cranky, give us a peanut butter sandwich! Then we are fine. It is night and day with us...

    ARCHIVED Giardia?

My mom had it. She was really sick and she never gets sick. She got it while we were in Europe. She was teaching at the time and said she'd be in class and have to leave the room and lie on the bathroom floor, she'd feel so bad. Some of the symptoms you listed she had. Definitely look into it. She took meds for about a month to get over it, not fun, but...
  9. Yeah, I am all over Organic Valley these days. I was looking at the organic milk at my Raley's store and they have a house brand for a dollar less than the Organic Valley. But since I wasn't sure where it comes from, I was going to get the OV brand, UNTIL I saw on the side of the carton that the house brand IS from OV. So that is what I have been getting...
  10. I have to admit I was really excited about this stuff at first because I love Annies mac and cheese (back when I could eat it, that is). But this pasta isn't very good, I wasn't that impressed with it. I have only tried one box though, and it was on a day I was not having a good stomach time anyway, so I need to try again. I love Amy's frozen and also...
  11. I seem to have this same problem. Every month at ovulation I feel like I have a bladder infection, but I don't. I also get stabbing pains in my gut and become very constipated. I mean, I still go once or twice a day but it's hard as rocks. Taking psylliam doesn't seem to help but magnesium does. This is becoming more and more regular, especially the stabbing...
  12. I tend to do it sort of like Burdee, though I am not lactose intolerant. For a while I was only drinking goat milk when it came to dairy (meaning not cow milk) but I don't like goat milk on cereal and am not wild about soy, so I would do almond milk with coconut milk mixed in. That is a pretty good combo. Rice milk - meh! I have made my own almond milk...
  13. Thanks for the info! I realize now my mood swings were the result of using that birth control ring. I was manic while it was in, then had two weeks of depressive bouts after I took it out. Then I read on the web about other women having the same experience. It's amazing how REAL it all feels when it's happening, you believe just about anything your doctor...

    ARCHIVED Michelle In Utah?

She hasn't been posting lately but I"ll send her an email and see if she can get back to you. Take care Stephanie
  15. I get sad, too. And not just because I know I had gluten, it's just part of my reaction. I have had reactions last about a week, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. Lots of water is good for you. I have recently discovered when I'm feeling acutely depressed (gluten, hormones, whatever) that if I take 2 Source Naturals sublingual Vitamin B6 tablets and put...
  16. I have taken some ideas from this diet and gone with them, but I don't follow it. I am type A and am supposed to eat a lot more carbs and a lot less meat than I do. But I am also hypoglycemic (reactive) and I cannot handle that kind of load. I have found that if I go for more than 3 days without meat (but eat lots of eggs, cheese, other protein sources) I...
  17. A+ also. Only A+ I ever got! I followed the ER4YT diet for a while and that helped me figure out gluten. Though I was a huge fan of the spelt bread recipe in the ER4YT recipe book I had... Stephanie
  18. I'm very sorry to hear your news, Yvonne. I have a younger brother, I can't imagine losing him. I hope you continue to get support here, I think it's a good thing you reached out with this. Take care and I will be thinking of you. Stephanie
  19. Yeah, I got a green one a couple of weeks back because I was at SF's DeYoung Museum on opening day and they gave them away for that event - bright green. I think it's neat but they are everywhere, the color isn't much to do with it anymore. I haven't gotten an Angelic Groove bracelet but I did get the keyring and it's beautiful. Stephanie
  20. Dogear - I think what you're saying is wise. I don't see a line between diets because I believe as you do, that perhaps people get on board certain fad diets because in truth they feel better avoiding something they might not realize effects them poorly. I only ended up on a gluten free diet because I first started a hypoglycemic diet, which was basically...
  21. This is astonishing because I am so impressed a 4th grader wanted fruit instead of Lucky Charms. I think hell just froze over. Stephanie
  22. Yeah, I see Annie's and Amy's get mixed up a lot... in fact I had to go check in my kitchen! Stephanie
  23. Here are a few things I'm responding to: I *think* Pamela's does make one cookie with oats, but I could be wrong. And Felidae answered the question from Lizzy about potatoes - I am intolerant to nightshades. Also, for a mac and cheese recipe without wheat, I cube up or shred cheddar cheese and put in a sauce pan. I put one tsp of sweet rice flour in...
  24. Marie - I can understand your upset with fad dieters: These people in the health food store are the ones you should be expressing your upset with, though. I don't know of anyone on this forum who is using gluten free as a fad diet, to lose weight, or whatever. Everyone on here is following for health reasons. Dogear's message initially...
  25. Yvonne - I just used my breadmachine the other day for the first time in over 9 months. I had only gotten it a year before then, because I was going wheat free and making spelt bread, etc a lot. Then I went gluten free and attempted to make a few doorstops , doing things like babysitting the breadmachine so I could take the paddle out after the first knead...
