  1. This is interesting - I was looking around on the web to find out about the ingredients in zofran odt and found this, that describes all forms of the drug. Wonder why they say the tablet form is gluten free in both strengths but don't make a distinction with the orally discintegrating version? Open Original Shared Link Stephanie
  2. I think the others are fine. I have had the omega and the chocolate chip ones many times (two cases and several singles) and been totally fine. I think they are great! I am thinking about making my own, sort of, because they don't sell them locally, I have to drive 180 miles round trip to get them.... Great for hypoglycemics, too! Stephanie
  3. Wow, good to have the fresh experience. I asked my mom about having my husband in there with questions but she said the room isn't big, there won't be room for him. I'm hoping he can still get in somehow and ask some questions because I'll want to know something. Sort of feel like a control freak now, but I don't know if I could handle not knowing the results...

  5. Wow, we are ALL over this topic... wonder if anyone else will read? I hope it's a myth but people have posted here who have gotten sick from wheat grass supplements so I'm guessing it's not a myth... but there are several other flavors of bars they have that it's not much of a big deal. I just avoid green supplements as a blanket rule now. ...
  6. Wow, I'm getting "reamed" - you don't start drinking the stuff until 5:10 pm???? I need to call and doublecheck on this, I'm going to be starving. And I don't go in until 8:45 the next morning. I was told grape, apple and cranberry juice were ok, because they don't have sediment. But that doesn't make sense if red and purple jello are out. Oh...
  7. Gina - yep, more NorCal than you, though... 90 miles north of Sacramento. The seed IS the grain. So any amount of seed left around could contaminate. I would be interested to see what the Stanford Celiac clinic says... this is a big debate. Stephanie
  8. Oh, and one more thing, they also market all their products as being soy-free but then as I listed before, the chocolate chip version has soy lecithin in it... Stephanie
  9. From the online version of Trader Joe's Gluten Free Product List: Open Original Shared Link Stephanie
  10. This is of course up for debate but I would not risk my health on eating wheat or barley grass supplements. I think you'll find a lot of strong opinion on this both ways. Think of alfalfa sprouts - there's always some trace seed in that stuff. You can't sprout something and grow it without a chance of something of the seed being left behind. To the extent...
  11. I have been eating these for the last couple of years and love them! My favorite is the one with the chocolate chips, which they nicely explain are GOOD FOR YOU! One word of caution - they all say gluten free but some have greens in them, including barley and wheat, so avoid those. Also, the chocolate chip one says free of soy, but then lists soy lecithin...
  12. I wanted to point out these are CLASSIC hypoglycemia symptoms. Just testing your blood sugar once won't tell you much. I used to get like this all the time, then started chaning my diet. The proof was in the pudding when I got my own tester for blood sugar (Freestyle) and did two days of testing my sugar every 15 mins and kept track of what I ate, time of...
  13. My mom told me this weekend when she had her colonoscopy, they gave her the first does of whatever, and she said that she involuntarily said, "Mmmmmmm, that's like a good martini." The doc said, "Want another?" and she said, "Yessssssssssssssss......." and fell asleep before she could finish the "yes". Cracked me up. Also, my dad said he was going...
  14. OK, to bring this back to the original subject, if someone is nodding, like they get it, but I don't think they really do, I explain, it's like a peanut allergy. You know how some kids can't even be in a cafeteria with someone eating a peanut butter sandwich? Well, I can be in the cafeteria, but if even one crumb from that sandwich ends up in my food, I'll...
  15. Tiffany - so we'll be going under the same day. OK, I'll definitely let you know! I'm pretty excited about it, I love this kind of stuff. I wish I could be coherent for it so I could see my insides, but know better... Up to four hours before the procedure you can still have something to drink??? Sheesh, I was told nothing after midnight, not even...
  16. I've gotten the decaf, in the green can, and no problem. Richard (lovgrov) usually posts that he's not run into any coffee that has gluten. The only one's I would really suspect are flavored or instant. I have read that some decaf using chemical process can possibly contain gluten, so I stuck with water process for a while, but gave up that after a while...
  17. I'm having one done on Thursday, along with a colonoscopy at the same time. What scares me (more like fills me with dread) is the prep day - I am hypoglycemic and I am supposed to not eat the whole day before, starting at 7am. I sure don't plan on doing anything that takes any energy because I will be fried. Blech... From everyone's review of it though...
  18. My doctor said avoiding gluten was the way to go. I asked what about testing and he said stick with the diet for 6 months, try gluten, if it makes me sick, I have my answer. I went to a gastro the other day for the first time and he had no problems accepting I have gluten intolerance - without any testing. Celiac is not the only result of gluten intolerance...
  19. Also Spectrum sells a palm oil shortening. I think Earth Balance has one, too... Stephanie
  20. Thanks for all the info and experiences! The nearest appointment was Dec 13, but they looked on the books and saw a cancellation for next Thursday and I said, go for it! I have been having a lot of stomach problems lately, for the past three days I have been having waves of spasms or cramps in my stomach area. I don't know if it's small intesine or large...
  21. On tortillas - I think I read in the pamphlet from Chebe that there is a recipe for tortillas, too. Can't remember what you do... Stephanie
  22. His comment about motility is that in some people their intestinal motility is just that their colon misfires and doesn't transport the "goods" effectively. Sort of like just being uncoordinated. I told him how I've taken anti-spasmodics and they don't seem to do much of anything but make my head ache. Suggested going to an allergist after this if the scopes...
  23. I saw my GI today. He was nice and listened pretty well to my ongoing symptoms that have not cleared up from eliminating gluten and some other foods, basically a lot of IBS symptoms. He said yes, sounds like IBS (ha, really, can't they come up with anything else???) but basically that it is a motility issue. Did a little exam and found some blood in my stool...
  24. I have to ask, where do you work? We had an insurance meeting yesterday at work, my company pays $130 a month for a 30-39 year old employee's insurance (such as mine). Since I decided to buy up to the marginally better plan offered, I will be paying the difference, which is $19 a month, so my better plan is officially $149 a month. Over $1,000??? Cadillac...
  25. I've been to several pharmacies and none of them knew easily if a drug had gluten in it. Several have been very helpful and dug up the info sheet and we've inspected it together, and some have called, as well. The doctor part doesn't impress me, hardly any of the doctors I've been to know diddly about gluten, it seems. Stephanie
