  1. I was up very early this morning and I had time to read the new entries on the entire board.... and just have to say, Shroom.........this response made my morning and will likely keep me grinning for the rest of the day. Inkwells and nibs...no, I did not use them, but the hole was still there in the desk for it and I recall asking Sr. Marie Claire...
  2. There are very few among us who would argue with that suggestion, Kelleybean! Happy Christmas to you, hon!
  3. oh, whew, for a second there, I thought you considered me a picky eater.... If you read the sentence, I said I refused to be thought of a picky eater (because they are pains in the buttocks). and I refuse to be thought of as THAT. i.e. a picky eater. if you consider me a pain in the buttocks, well, I guess I'll take that as a compliment?...
  4. oh really ....well, two thoughts were expressed , so which is it: I am a picky eater or giant pain in the buttocks? go ahead....say it.
  5. Oh no,no no.!!! ..."Picky eaters" are just giant pains in the buttocks. I refuse to be thought of as THAT! I eat anything! and honestly, I never go to malls, I swear, so my "cracked behavior" -- must just be "me"..
  6. Red Sumac trees ring our property and they are very pretty and the birds eat the berries like mad. They are not to be confused with the spice that comes from the Mediterranean plant, of course. The spice sumac is "lemony", isn't it Karen? I am sure my Armenian grandmother used it all the time, but I have never tried it myself. Maybe I should get...
  7. I remember when my friend (a graduate of the Culinary Institute in Florida) was surprised I had saffron threads and juniper berries (she didn't) I felt so proud that day--like Karen says: "a real chef" No one I know has sumac in their cupboards. Not even the professional chefs I know. except.........you, Lovey. Man, I want to just walk through...

    ARCHIVED Bison

Whenever we are feeling at our lowest, always, always something (or someone) comes our way and renews our faith in humanity. I always believe in the goodness of people, even when terrible things happen. Good always triumphs evil. I am delighted for you, Barty! Enjoy, honey--you deserve it. You are always so sweet and kind to others. And because...
  10. I confess I am not the grocery shopper in the house. I am one of those fortunate few whose hubs does not mind doing it. It was one of the many reasons why I married him. He actually goes to 3 different places to get what I want/need for cooking/baking. I also rely heavily on good old Amaz...prime for shipping the bulk stuff. So, what recipe are...
  11. alas, we have none of those here in my area, but they are building a ShopRite and we are getting a WF ... in 2014..whoohoo!
  12. LOVE 2...that's awesome, hon........Thanks! That is handy!! ....I have not seen them in a smaller size carton (maybe online--I'll check), but if I open a 32 oz. carton and know I will not be using it all, I freeze 8 oz. measured out in baggies.. I hate wasting it.
  13. I can't stop laughing....whoo boy... ok, seriously. Patti, I tried this recipe a few times and it is very good. If you do not have apple juice or cider, OJ would probably work. (last time, I had neither and used white wine and chicken broth and it was good too..) Got bacon? (of course you do, what am I thinking?) anyway, I am sure LOVEY will come...
  14. man, you're quick....no brain frogs here.
  15. ..uh huh, I see....well, if that's what you wanna call it., sweetie ....(must be a Canadian expression...)
  16. Enjoy that slurping and those chickadees, Gramma! the thought of so many at this time of year... sounds yummy I am sure they are warm...LOVE2TRAVEL keeps them fed and toasty, no doubt. They are not shoveling, apparently as she says the snow is up to her arse, so....no one can go anywhere .....she's got them doing SOMETHING...
  17. you're adorable. Dinner tonight: Bison meatloaf with appropriate C and S (still thinking that one through) Smashed potatoes sauteed swiss chard no "encore" Tiramisu left....I gave it to Elaine, the wonderufl PT/MT who takes care of me. She said indignantly/jokingly "Hey, this piece is awfully small...." I blamed the hubs....
  18. now, THAT is creative adaptation. and if you want more suggestions for NYC safe restaurants, I have a list someone sent me. Shoot me a PM.
  19. hmm....The sage advice? the witty banter? the racy naughtiness? the "shenanigans and hooliganism" ? (I just like saying those words... )
  20. no, I was kidding the Capt. about asking this question and inspiring more pages of responses. I was just joshing him. But I see that dieticians get "mixed reviews" from the troops. From what I hear, I think our friends in Canada, the UK and NZ and Aus have better luck with helpful dieticians than those who are called "nutritionists" in the US...
  21. Nope, just pine needles until July been there done that. ....Replying to yourself is part of the "gluten free lifestyle" one order of hash browns......coming up! and there it is.....better late than never. Hi Notme! okayl I have mastered the quadruple reply (thanks, guys for the tutorial) and now, it is time for...
  22. I was just kidding with you, Cap!
  23. well, for Addy it seems to be ......at this moment in her "life style" . The problem with rigid definitions is "application" ..."Gluten free" was NOT established early in my childhood (I did not even know what that was) so it could not have had a significant impact on my basic character or my behavior or maybe I would have had a different...
  24. Yes, of course. Without a question, there can be no answer, grasshopper. He asked, we answered.
