  1. Did you order a sample, K? It kind of reminds me of Expandex: Open Original Shared Link
  2. eeyup!! In Noo Yawk, they say "You sound like yer from Bahston" In Bahston, they say "oh no--now you have a Noo Yawk accent". I spend a few weeks in Ireland --and I come home with a brogue.
  3. oh boy, have you got that right, brother
  4. Honestly, when I had mine out it was 1985 but as I recall, I was so sick, jaundiced and feeling so lousy for so long that YES! I felt better.
  5. Beebs, here is some interesting research on oats. Some people react to Avenin in oats. "There may exist a sub-set of celiacs who also have avenin-reactive mucosal T-cells, avenin being the oat counterpart to wheat's gliadin". You can read more here: https://www.celiac.com/articles/840/1/Oats-Intolerance-in-Celiac-Disease/Page1.html Also: Open...
  6. ?? I'm sorry, but can you explain what that means, please.
  7. Hops are not sedative, according to my chemist hubs who has been brewing beer for 35 years. Secondly, I would not drink that. I read their statement (and how "their gluten intolerant friends" eagerly tested it and "took one for the team"--that probably means none of them are celiacs) but it did not satisfy me. Seems unlikely their process...
  8. Most celiacs tolerate oats. I read wait 2 years before trying them. (everyone has a theory) When it is described as a "gluten reaction", it means you may have digestive issues. It will not give you any neuro issues. Nothing I have read indicates that will happen, if that is your worry. And it certainly will not cause a gluten autoimmune response...
  9. actually, when I first came on here, I read some of the beginning, some of the middle and... gave up. That's a lot of chatter!!!
  10. We have a PUR filter. No problems. I am just curious, but what makes you think there is gluten in a water filter? I have never heard of this before. (But when it comes to gluten, I am never surprised by what I learn.)
  11. Yeah, I have to think it's a giant red flag to them. and who needs that hassle for a few dollars in return ???
  12. Well, I AM silly, granted---but to be a psilly...well.... That's special. Jumping in on this thread is like coming into the middle of a movie. or..like my improv class back in college. I have no clue what's going on, don't know who all the main characters are, no idea what happened in the first hour and there's no script to follow.
  13. oh, I think you can find 'em pretty easily these days. My neighbor "Carlotta" in Bahston had size 12 platform sandals. Now, that "girl" could dance.
  14. oh, but That's because your state population has more "sophisticated" taste than the rest of the NE states. (nothing says tasteful like urine orange, yes?) I bet 1/3 of the houses in VT, NH, Maine, Mass and RI are white..... with green shutters. If you get drunk in Lexington, Mass. for example and try to find your house, you can't. (not that I have...
  15. Be careful. You could be audited. You need to have HUGE medical expenses in addition to the gluten free groceries for this to work. Your medical deductions have to equal 7.5% of your income before you can deduct the first dollar. I have not heard of any celiac who has done this successfully. I have heard of two being audited the first year they tried....
  16. Non-alcoholic Fatty liver is often associated with celiac disease. Here are some articles: https://www.celiac.com/articles/21501/1/Celiac-Disease-and-Liver-Disorders/Page1.html Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link FWIW, I had gall bladder disease when I was 22 and it was removed at 25 when I could no longer stand the pain, nausea...
  17. okay, but warn him--- those fishnet tights are a bugger (I know--years of dance classes)
  18. O M G That's him... but gasp! sadly, that is not me. I have very dark hair ...why that Two-timing sonuva.... and why is that girl doing that weird yoga pose on the beach? ...yeesh....that's gonna give her some strange (and painful) sunburn lines, doncha think?
  19. I never drink soda but I had a Virgil's root beer while on vacation and oh boy--did that taste great. Gluten free. No HFCS...(but pure cane sugar) I bounced off walls for an hour or so from the sugar buzz
  20. I have never, ever seen wheat in canned tuna. Soybean oil maybe.
  21. true dat, girl, true dat....
  22. see, I KNEW Jess would find what I mean--and bring me the visual! It happens every time. How cool is that? I describe it and she finds it and makes it appear!!... She found those happy dancing animals that time and the confetti.... hey! let's try this. I wish I could find that sexy mocha skinned cabana boy I saw that time in St. John's who runs...
