EXACTLY. I am feeling a little grouchy about this too...

They are not going to leave any negative comments! That would affect sales. I just read what you posted Sylvia and all the other comments and there are more glowing kuddos and "thank you's" than any reasonable posts from celiacs like us. One celiac even said "I do not have reactions to a little CC, so I can eat this"...wtf?? even Celiacs do not get...

ARCHIVED Don't Know Much......new
IrishHeart replied to vella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In answer to your question, yes Graves and alopecia areata are autoimmune diseases. Hypoglycemia can be a symptom of gluten intolerance and resolves on a gluten-free diet. Here is a list of AI diseases. Open Original Shared Link Maybe some information in this thread for Newbies will help you out? For some people, it takes a lot longer... -
Gluten sucks the life out of me and messes with my brain, too. I am like you--I get the overwhelming sadness (and insomnia and anxiety and brain fog, racing in my heart and mind and a sensation like I am on LSD)if I am hit. I used to describe it as "someone pulling down the shade" on me. Totally opposite my personality to be that sad and moody and feeling...

ARCHIVED Non-Specific White Matter On Mri? Anyone Else Have This?
IrishHeart replied to Cara in Boston's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
They know I am a gourmet cook. They have experienced my dazzling creations. But actually adopting the diet themselves? um, I am afraid hell will hold hockey games before my family members step away from the donuts, bread-coated fried foods and subway sammies. Not. Going. To. Happen. I cannot keep saying things because they get mad at me. ... -

IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi M! It was pretty darn good. I used to do it in the oven, but Sylvia reminded me recently to break out the slow cooker I had in the closet. While I have your attention -- I made the cheesy bread rolls with the CHEBE mix you suggested--- and they were GREAT!!! Hubs loved them with our burgers. Thanks so much, hon! I cannot have corn or... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Glutton: Don't take advice from Miley Cyrus - Florida Times-Union
IrishHeart replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
Upon rereading it, J-- I do see what you are saying. I thought he sounded negative. You're right; maybe he is still mourning those foods. I also thought he suggested a gluten free diet was only for those with a "medical condition" and many people on here can't seem to get any doctor to agree their symptoms ARE a "medical necessity" and so, they remain... -

I wish MY sister with her diabetes, hypothyroidism, high BP, etc. would listen to this little sister who loves her deeply and knows she is a celiac, too. sigh.... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Glutton: Don't take advice from Miley Cyrus - Florida Times-Union
IrishHeart replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
I am sorry the author finds the diet "quite depressing at times" and I have no kind comments regarding "Miley and Kim" (because really? who gives a rat's butt what they are doing?) but more importantly, what's wrong with trying a gluten-free diet if you have serious symptoms? There are no adverse health effects (and maybe some positive benefits)... -

As you are still awaiting DX and you still have gluten in your system, it is difficult to say what "got you" or if you are still just inflamed. Yes, grills that handle pancakes are a tough surface for CC. I know how hard it is to wait. When is your testing to be done? -
If your sibling, parent, or child has celiac disease, you have roughly a 5 percent chance of developing the condition. That's miniscule. Since my cousin's grandchild has been worked up for Tourette's and we have a prevalence of gluten intolerance in the family, with me being the first Dxed Celiac, I have looked into the connection between the two to...

LOVETOTRAVEL told me she is gone away and so, I feel like we have to carry on making something special once and a while in her honor. Last night was pretty blah, so today, I have osso bucco (veal shanks in wine, stock, tomatoes, onions, veggies and herbs) going in the slow cooker and I will add Saffron risotto to it and some roasted asparagus. I have one... -
ARCHIVED First Real Gutening - Ugh!
IrishHeart replied to Jetamio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Stop eating packaged/preserved foods if you want to avoid MSG. Asian packaged foods, soups, gravies, etc.--that sort of thing?--have a lot of MSG in them. I look at MSG, HFCS (high fructose corn syrup), preservatives and soy the same way I look at gluten. I avoid them. I read labels as carefully for those as I do for gluten. My eyes are well-trained... -
ARCHIVED First Real Gutening - Ugh!
IrishHeart replied to Jetamio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry you got hit. Same advice from me: water, water, water and double up on the probiotics for a week and just take it easy. I see you are also MSG intolerant. Me, too. Could it have been that, hon?? That gives me nausea and a vicious migraine and "swelling" in my face, eyes, throat and hands. Just a thought. Feel better soon! -
well, I have been known to use that one myself

ARCHIVED Non-Specific White Matter On Mri? Anyone Else Have This?
IrishHeart replied to Cara in Boston's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have used this very sentence on here, Chill! "My GI tract was in flames and raw--from my mouth to my rectum." Even water hurt going down. But, it was "just GERD" the GI's snippy NP told me as I cried, a shaking bag of bones sitting in front of her....and she gave me a bag of Aciphex to take home. Oh, and a script for anti-depressants. Both went... -

scalded, burned tongue, mouth, throat, my whole GI tract. In flames. It was misery. (no doctor knew what that was either and some suggested I take anti-depressants) It's a symptom !!! and I had it all for 3 years(check Recognizing Celiac Disease by Cleo Libonati) It's gone now. -
amen, sister! and yaay! I am so glad to have some company in my "rant fest"!! thanks for posting, even after a long day.

ARCHIVED Can I Touch Hay ?
IrishHeart replied to georgie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I do not think you need to stop your Fall festivities. Hay is mowed grass, alfalfa, clover and sometimes herbs and legumes. Yes, sometimes wheat or oat may be included in fodder for cattle. The difference between hay bales and straw bales derives from what they are made of. Hay bales are comprised primarily of grasses. These grasses still have... -

ARCHIVED Non-Specific White Matter On Mri? Anyone Else Have This?
IrishHeart replied to Cara in Boston's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have your brother read this post, please Cara. One of the many symptoms I developed was severe muscle, tissue and tendon pain, loss of muscle mass and weakness. I could not sit, stand, lay down or walk without agony. It even hurt to lay my cheek against the pillow or wear clothing. To prevent total atrophy, I forced myself to keep moving for ... -
ARCHIVED Need To Vent...husband Doesn't Get It!
IrishHeart replied to beachbirdie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
small percentage???? Let's do some math. The world's population is approx. 7 billion people as of today. 1% is 70 million. The current population of the US is approx. 313 million people. 1% is 3.1 million people. Your husband thinks 3.1 million people is a "small group of people"?
