  1. Welcome to the Forum! I, personally, do not use anything that says "may contain" wheat. If there's any trace wheat in there, chances are, I'm going to suffer the consequences and I cannot take that risk. I've been sick long enough. I think of that as a "no-no" Certainly, you should NEVER use anything that says "contains wheat". That's a HUGE...
  2. P--don't you have a sals issue? Aren't peppermints high in sals? and don't sals cause stomach pain and D? Maybe that's why? just thinking out loud with you.
  3. Now, see.... the perfect de-pooing technique might make for riveting blog reading, Jess. Have fun!!
  4. um, I have found some other things under there, but never a half a cabbage. Relating your chicken escapades ARE blogging, in a sense You are, in fact, writing about something, right?
  5. good one! No, sweetie--a funny thought--is a "wellness " symptom!!
  6. Her recipes are very adaptive, but it may be impossible if someone cannot do buttermilk --or a combo gluten-free flour mix (which may involve almond flour) as you need something to sub for the thickening agent that is x-gum. You can do without corn starch or potato starch, but then it gets tough. Hopefully, Bartful can wade through and see what...
  7. I can help you get around the corn and potato starch, (plenty of subs for those) but honey, there is NO gluten-free bread recipe I know of that does not have xanthan or guar gum, except a good Paleo bread recipe with almond and coconut flours. Do you want that? just wondering...how do you know you have a problem specifically with X-gum??...
  8. I thought about creating a blog myself once, (lord knows I can find enough words) ... but I realized....really? who would give a sh*t about what I had to say on a day-to-day basis? Granted, I am witty and clever and could throw out a few recipes or a wise nugget about "dealing with life" from a middle-aged woman's perspective ... or maybe even some...
  9. Want my bread recipe? seriously? It's good.
  10. BTW, ....Gluten elephant?  good one, Dani.
  11. Not to be confused with Gluten Head which is what I call what happens when we suddenly cannot recall what the hell we were doing just minutes ago if we get into some gluten. Or recall a simple word. And then cry about it like a baby for seemingly no apparent reason... If you get neuro stuff, too, and find yourself anxious and sleepless, then it becomes...
  12. You are not a moron. That said, sorry you are not feeling well. But it is NOT because of gluten in the Blue Diamond almonds, I assure you. I eat them regularly, and if there were any gluten in them, I would be having trouble typing this message to you because my brain function would be impaired and I would be in the bathroom, doubled over in pain, ...
  13. So true, Gee Eff, so true!!
  14. And nothing screams "come to papa" better than fresh minty breath I told someone recently when my Irishman gave up his beloved Guiness for me, well, that's true love, baby! Makes me tear up just a 'lil bit.
  15. Prickly and dcns65- I wanted a saltine for my soup, too and the closest thing I found to use is Yehuda gluten-free Matzo crackers. I broke them up in my tomato soup and let them soak a bit and the taste was darn close. Just a thought!
  16. I guess I should have added....these gals live with GEs, but they have very strict "brushing, flossing and rinsing" rules? Gives new meaning to the phrase "kiss of death" when we're involved, yes?
  17. You mean like a sledge-hammer to the head? Oh boy, this sentence just begs for so many fun responses, but I'm gonna give you a pass this one time, Gee Eff, because you're a nice guy. Dani, hon, as Raven says, never, ever apologize for venting. I am sorry you had a booger day, but in the end, this is all a learning curve. Now he knows. I...
  18. First of all guys, you can have beer and BBQ, it just has to be gluten-free. Welcome to the Forum! Your raise a lot of questions. Let's see if I can help a little and other members can chime in. This is an amazing group of knowledgeable and supportive people. Your symptoms sure sound gluten-related and negative test results do not automatically...
  19. He can use the same amount of crumbs as he always has, just use gluten-free bread to make the crumbs. Some companies sell gluten-free breadcrumbs, but why pay for those? I keep the heels of our homemade bread in the freezer. Take one out, thaw and run it through a mini- chopper or food processor and season with herbs, if you like (thyme, oregano, garlic...
  20. If modified food starch is made from WHEAT, it will be listed as an ingredient. Here is a helpful list: Open Original Shared Link
  21. Heard this one today. A tough old cowboy from South Texas counseled his grandson that if he wanted to live a long life, the secret was to sprinkle a pinch of gun powder on his oatmeal every morning. The grandson did this religiously to the age of 103 when he died. He left behind 14 children 30 grandchildren 45 great-grandchildren...
  22. sometimes, the universe just rights itself, doesn't it??
  23. That is pretty much what I do as well. The "shared lines" disclosure is much appreciated and I use it as a guide for myself. I know others do not worry so much about it, and that works for them, but I was very ill for so long and I handle my recovery with extra vigilance. When I do use packaged G F foods, I choose dedicated facilities. Again, that's...
  24. Sunny and 80. Looks like we'll be using the grill then. Chicken, cole slaw and grilled asparagus (which was hardier than the green beans, so they were used first .) Might make hubs some chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting--as he has toiled long and hard all week building the front porch. If I can't swing a hammer with him right now,...
